Also ordered the baked salmon ("Laks" in norwegian) and finger potatoes which was a nice sized portion, had perfect seasoning and again cooked the correct amount. I would try one of their pizzas next time. A fresh pour of the pilsner on tap was the perfect temperature. They also had a nice locally made and bottled apple cider. Very friendly folks too! Asked about some advice in returning my rental car in Voss followed by a quick run to the train station and the owner called up his friend who works at Hertz in Voss who was willing to allow me to just drop my car next to the train station. I felt better to drop it at the Hertz location at 8am and he offered to run me over to catch my train at 9. Folks in Norway are amazingly kind! Tasty and Friendly, I'd be back here and recommend you give them a shot! Note their hours are pretty limited during the week. I think they closed at 6pm. but weekend hours were longer. Your food options are very limited in Ulvik (other than the hotel restaurants) so plan ahead.

If you go to Hemsedal this is a must visit. I was there on a Saturday night and it was one of the…read morecraziest parties I have been to in a while! Stavkroa is one of the most famous afterskis in the world and definitely I can say it is totally worth the 3 hours of queuing! Yes you heard it right! 3 hours being in a queue, but I would have done it again if needed! On the plus side the queue was in another bar so while waiting one could dance, go to the toilet or drink beer. And the music was good! So to avoid that, the smart option is to buy tickets before going there. Then you can enter very easily. However if you want to get in for free there is a price to pay. The queue is very long and you need to get a bit rude and push people, otherwise you will never get in! When you are close to getting in you just get pushed and squeezed between everyone. But again, it's worth it. There are several floors of bars. The very downstairs is like a pub, not crowded and very calm. The queue floor is the one you arrive to which is quite large and has good danceable music. The actual club though is not comparable to the other floors. People dance on tables, there are professional women dancers on the top, the music is perfect for a crazy dancing night, the people are happy and wear their ski cool outfits and beer is been thrown on everyone when the night gets older. So tips: buy tickets before hand. Put your jacket and anything you can get rid of from your outfit to the garderobe. It's crazy warm in the club and quite dirty/sweaty after a point so no need to look fancy. Take your best moves and enjoy!

This review is long overdue. We spent two nights in Eidfjord in September at a lovely AirBnB. Our…read morehost recommended this restaurant (only one of a handful in the town) so we checked it out on our first night, but it was closed. The note said they would be open the next day, so we called and made a reservation. When we got there on Saturday night, we were the only ones there at first. The restaurant used to be a house, and now the first floor is the restaurant/bar area, with a few boarding rooms upstairs. The week we were there was the last week they would be open until the spring, since it was the end of the tourist season. The server/owner was very welcoming and friendly. She told us she and her father own the place, and they renovated it a few years ago. The inside is beautiful, and really cozy and comfortable. There are a few dining tables in the back room, along with a lounge area next to the bar up front. There was no written menu--the owner just told us the two options they had for the night (a salmon dish and reindeer) as well as a soup and dessert. They also had two local wines and some local beer. The meal was delicious, and so peaceful. We sat next to the window, which overlooks the fjord. We could see the sun setting while we were eating. After we finished our meal, we were going to just go back to the AirBnB, but the server convinced us to stick around at the bar. There were two or three other people there, who were clearly locals who come in a lot. We had a few drinks at the bar before we called it a night. Overall this was a lovely experience, and I highly recommend it if you find yourself in this sleepy cruise town.

The person who served us the best Gin&Tonic I've ever drunk told us a lot about Eidfjord and Norway in general. After a while they even surprised us with free popcorn. Very sweet!
