We left and walked down the strip and came back. We considered not going in but saw a group of people that were handicapped walking in and did not want them to stand there waiting like we did. My husband closed the door loudly because we could still see him sleeping, and the worker jumped up after he closed the door. First of all thanks for giving my daughter a free donut, she loved it! There's almost too many donuts here to choose from, the selection is crazy and probably around 100 different donuts! I ordered a blueberry and a bunch of Fall themed donuts that sounded good and they were all amazing. Everything is cake and everything is made to order right in-front of you. Duck is really unique for a donut shop, I've never seen anything like it. They also have a lot of interesting coffee/donut combos. The shop was really nice and accommodating. This is the filthiest restaurant I have ever been in. If the food handling practices are at all a reflection of the overall cleanliness of the restaurant I would strongly advise against eating here. We didn't get donuts. We walked about because we were so grossed out but how dirty the restaurant was. Floors with dirt and leaves everywhere... no way this accumulated in one morning... the floors clearly hadn't been cleaned in ages. Counters and tables had smears of food and frosting all over them. It was apparent that they were quite busy. I ordered ahead and joined the group that was waiting on donuts. When online orders are ready, they are apparently taken to the back, while orders for in-store are handed directly to the customer. This was not obvious to anyone, so I ended up waiting beyond when my order was ready. Also, the workers are busy, so you generally feel bad about having to interrupt them. me and my friends have been coming to this place the last 3 years and yes even tho i return each time, everyone should expect a very long wait or if anything for them to forget your order. each time i come they forget something that we ordered and we wait 30-40 mins all for donuts. the food and doughnuts are great but for what it costs and the time its completely not worth it. let alone it's always 90 degrees in the store and all around not worth it at all. the owner who is an old lady is nice but the owners son is not the best and leaves when there are only two people working. this place is not what it's hyped up to be at all. i believe after this experience this is the last time i come here! read more

We love duck donuts and I think the combos and flavor can't be beat! Like all duck donuts, this little shop makes hot donuts to order and tops them however you would like! We got a combo of traditional and (fall) seasonal and 2 coffees. Everything was absolutely delicious. The counter staff and worker/owner were super nice and accommodating, but they were really behind and it took us a while to receive our donuts- along with others. This is one of those places that if they had one of these at home you would go there all the time but since you are on vacation it's totally cool to go here because it would be irresponsible as a vacationer if you didn't or at least that's how I'm going to justify it. We had our first experience with Duck Donuts on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in Duck of course. What I like about this place is that there's no gimmicks it's straight up fry cakes that you choose your own toppings with. No donut holes, no filled Donuts, no jelly donuts, just fry cakes with toppings. So I happen to choose 3 powdered 3 cinnamon 3 chocolate 3 peanut butter pretty simple. You can tell the kids that were working there were pretty much done with donuts because they're around them all the time. The only downside is from time to order to the time you pick up especially if they're busy runs about 10 minutes but that's okay you can watch them making your Donuts it's pretty cool. 4 dozen donuts runs about 16 bucks which is about $6 higher than Dunkin Donuts however these Donuts are fresh and not frozen so there's that. Believe the hype when it comes to Duck Donuts. Today I had the sweetest lady from my sons school bring my family a dozen assorted donuts from the SC location being the one in Savannah is not open yet. Now I was a bit skeptical being that all the donuts are a cake based dough and the only difference is the frosting and toppings but omg! What an amazing surprise. Fun concept with so many choices! A friend told us about Duck Donuts so we had to try it. We got a 1/2 dozen - each a different flavor. All start with a basic cake donut that is freshly made while you wait. Then you choose your glaze, topping, and/or drizzle. We were so excited to try a bite of each of our choices. Here are my thoughts: -The donuts are tasty, especially when warm! -The donut flavor (which is good) is all you taste if you don't get a strong flavored glaze like blueberry or lemon. - The key lime glaze is very mild and I wish I'd seen graham cracker crumbs as an option. - The store is bright and clean, and the merchandising is cute! -This could be a really fun place to visit, but the staff did not speak to us at all during our experience. Maybe some beach music playing in the background would liven the place up a bit. Overall, it was an ok experience and the donuts were good. Will I make it a point to go back? Maybe. This is a very popular spot for breakfast on the island during the summer - even on the weekdays. We got there on the early side and probably waited in line and for our food for about thirty minutes. The line was much longer by the time we left. The spot is easy to find in a shopping center with ample parking. You order doughnuts at the counter, specifying your toppings and your drizzle. My husband and I each ordered two doughnuts, and the adults had coffee and a latte. Once we ordered, we settled in to wait for the employees to make our doughnuts. The employees make the doughnuts on an assembly line. There were about four young people making doughnuts on the morning we arrived. The restaurant itself is pretty small. There are a few tables inside for enjoying doughnuts, but honestly, it was so crowded with people ordering and waiting on doughnuts that it may have been difficult to sit at one of them. Most people took their doughnuts to go or ate outside on benches or tables that belonged to another restaurant. I enjoyed a glazed doughnut with bacon and salted caramel and a lemon glazed doughnut with coconut and blackberry glaze. Both were excellent. We were looking for a breakfast place on the island, and this one popped up! We stopped in here and fell in love. It's a nice little spot, don't expect to stay inside and eat though, only a few small tables. But there are benches on the shopping strip and the atrium area has some tables and chairs for you to sit at as well. Here everything is custom made to order, so expect to wait. There's no grabbing and going here. You can order a dozen or 2 so don't let that deter you! If you want a few dozen you can totally call ahead an assortment and they do that. You can peruse the menu and pick the type of donut you want, and then the glaze, and/or icing, and then lastly any toppings! I'm really a plain Jane type of donut eater. Give me a good ol glazed donut and I'm a happy girl. And so that's what I got. I also did a chocolate icing with marshmallow drizzle that wasn't overly sweet and delicious as well. You can go as elaborate or boring as you want to with no judgement here! And you can watch them being made right before your eyes as well.
