I arrived in here not entirely sure what to expect but presumed I'd see all sorts of contraptions…read morefor back straightening and muscle fixing... guess I was expecting a sort of medieval torture chamber with more plastic bits. So, in I went to be greeted by a row of side-long desks and a series of expectant looking faces clearly wondering why I had walked in... I went so far as to ask "is this a shop?" ... I mean, it looked like one from the outside! One of the girls confirmed that it was indeed and duly sorted me out with the required torture device... but overall it was an odd and slightly awkward experience, not bad and I did get what I went in for, but definitely odd!
After ordering a sissel pillow size medium online, I started using it once it arrived. After 4 or 5…read morenights I stopped using it as my neck pain got considerably worse and I started to have migraines. When I put the pillow back into the box I realised the pillow was a size large. I then contacted the company via their website to explain and ask for a medium pillow. After a couple of weeks I noticed I got no reply so I called the company only to be told I should have checked the pillow upon arrival and I wasn't entitled to a refund or replacement because I didn't contact them within 2 weeks. There were a few emails back and forth. Luke was the guy emailing me, very condescending! I never write bad reviews but I believe I was unfairly treated. I paid big money for a pillow, a product. The company admitted it was their fault that I got the wrong size but apparantly cannot find the complaint I made with 2 weeks, how convenient.
Dublin Spine & Sports Physiotherapy
I've had a re-occurrence of a knee injury that I originally got sorted out last October. But that…read morephysiotherapist is now too far away to visit regularly, so I had to find a new one. Two people recommended the same physio that is a lot closer to home, Joy Teo of the Dublin Spine & Sports Physiotherapy. After three appointments over the course of a month my knee is so much better. Between the exercises prescribed and the ultra-sounding directly to the point of swelling on each visit, there has been a huge improvement. The exercises do take some effort, but are not grueling. I could feel the benefits immediately. She is a positive physiotherapists who I can recommend to anyone who is looking for one.
We all have injuries at one point or another and the big question is who is going to take care of…read moreme properly so that I don't walk away feeling worse...?! I have experienced a repeated 'frozen shoulder' and nerve impingement and was concerned about finding the right 'hands' to put my shoulder in - literally. And, the answer was right in my own hood - thanks to a fellow "Yelper" who gave it a great review! Tara at Dublin Spine & Sport PT Clinic has really taken care of me and my 'injury'. Visits are about 50 euro (cash only) and last between 30-45 minutes. And, better yet, there's no milking the injury - when the PT sees you've made progress, appointments are fewer and far between. They WANT to see you back in good working condition! So, after about five appointments (a huge difference compared to four months of appointments back home) I felt great and only returned to check that all is 'healing' properly. A little therapy goes a long way...
PhysioCare Charlemont Street
I just had a knee op and I was instructed to get the physiotherapy sessions started asap. Four days…read morelater I am off to PhysioCare on Charlemont street. Why here? Location location location. I needed somewhere close to where I live and worked, this PhysioCare is practically halfway between the two. A bit of a gamble, but I am glad I went with it. Met by Eoin, he explained everything that needed to be done and explained everything he was doing when working on my knee. He also went over the exercises he was giving me precisely and I left very confident with the session, with what he told me and the exercises he prescribed. I felt in no way rushed and he even went over the 30 mins allocated to the appointment. In the past with other physio experiences, I have left feeling the appointment was rushed. Or that I left a bit baffled, not knowing what I should have been asking. But on this occasion after the only surgery I have ever had, I left feeling none of that. All the following visits have been in the same vein, positive. Eoin is always positive and he managed to instil confidence back into me when on some visits I thought I wasn't making much progress. And I've made excellent progress. Hurrah! PS 30 min appointments here cost 60 EUR

Sports Physio Ireland
I've had little or no Gym experience when signing up to Sports Physio Ireland for the 6 session…read moreintro offer. It's the best thing I've done no question. I'm into my second month and will be signing up for my third. This Gym suits everyone from beginners to very fit individuals. The lads who lead the sessions create a professional friendly atmosphere. They push you hard but also know when to back off (usually the Monday morning sessions) I joined SPI because of a long term shoulder injury and lower back issues due to all the driving I do. I can report at the end of my second month I'm feeling stronger, the shoulder is feeling great and I genuinely look forward to the early morning sessions twice a week. I would highly recommend this route for those intimidated by joining a Gym or just putting off getting started. The lads will motivate you and the friendly atmosphere will keep you coming back. I couldn't recommend Sports Physio Ireland highly enough.

When I called their office, the receptionist answered, but she was not in the office. She kept me on hold as she attempted to contact the employee who I had an appointment with, but was unable to reach that person. So, I took the long walk home. Sports Physio Ireland has a policy that if you do not show up for an appointment, they charge you anyway. Why do I think there is a snowball's chance in hell that they would pay me for my wasted time (or even give me a free session)? Anyway, this just demonstrates how wildly unprofessional this place is. Better find another physical therapy clinic...this one is likely to stand you up.

They're…read morealways either too smelly or too regimented or too fake or have terrible schedules or not enough choice. Enter the Elbow Room. It's not quuiite five star (purely because the classes don't fit exactly to my schedule, so I'd prefer if there were a few more to choose from), but it's very nearly there. Firstly, it's in a very old building that's been renovated nicely, in that bit of Dublin that's kinda Smithfield, kinda Stoneybatter. There's something about the approach to the building that instills a calm in me already - there's nothing more off-putting than trying to get your zen on in a community hall or office block. The calm continues inside with nice homely decor, and an overriding sense of tranquility (candles and insence are great aren't they!) Then there is the range of classes available. Everything from Vinyasa Flow to Hatha, Ashtanga and Hot Yoga. As I said, it would be great if they had a choice of one of these per day - they are spread out over the week - so this won't be the studio for you if you want to do only one type per day. There is also a free vege lunch if you attend one of the day time classes. The classes that I've been to so far have generally had about 15 people in them, so it's never been too crowded. I've also not had a teacher that I haven't rated highly. This is all after just a few weeks in this spot, so come back for the re-review in a few months time, but for now, I'm zenned up like a *&*%^!
