I'm not sure where all of these photos were taken, but they were not taken at the Dublin Dr Pepper museum in Dublin. A tiny little town, a tiny little bottling company and a tiny little soda shop next door is pretty much what Dublin is made of. You buy your tickets in the soda shop for the tour and as it starts you are given a frosty cold, full of slush, Dublin Dr Pepper to enjoy while touring the bottling area. As you walk through the little tour, you are given a complete history of Dublin Dr Pepper bottling. As you leave the bottling area, you walk into an air conditioned room full of memorabilia from the private collection of Bill Kloster. Photos, desk, cash register, clocks, slogans, all there, and history is given while you walk through the various rooms and admire them. Definitely worth the few dollars they charge for admission!!

Yes, another foolish tour by the foolish boys commenced to Waco to see the David Koresh place and the Dublin Dr. Pepper Museum. The museum itself is nice a place to take a quick tour of how they made Dr. Pepper in the beginning. This is a place you can buy genuine Dublin Dr Pepper, still made with the original Imperial Pure Cane Sugar formula. They also bill themselves as the oldest Dr. Pepper plan in the world. Does anyone remember the 10, 2, 4 slogan and commercials. For that matter do you remember the days when soda bottles were 5 cents? We spent about two hours or more looking at all the old stuff including bottles and watching the movie they had. Lots of neat stuff. They also have a souvenir store with all kinds of stuff from glassware, t shirts and Dr. Pepper itself. We bought some. The old doc's soda fountain was my favorite; I ordered a Dr Pepper float and a chicken salad sandwich. It was good. They also have Moon Pies (pronounced Moon Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii), I grew up on moon pies but my buddies had never had one so they were excited to try them, I got a lot of teasing. Oh yes they had two flavors the banana flavor and the standard chocolate flavored ones. So, if you are in Waco with nothing to do go get some old Dr. Pepper soda and browse the museum. Would I go back? Yes, especially for Moon Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiis!

Begin With The History Of Dublin Dr. Pepper. End With A Delicious Soda Float. This is a perfect example of the resilience of people. After bottling the Dr. Pepper soft drink for more than 100 years, a law suit forced drastic change on this company. In spite of this conflict, the company is embracing the change. Dublin Bottling Works now produces 11 original sodas, none of which are close to the dearly departed Dublin Dr. Pepper. The flavors we tried were tasty and refreshing! Start with the staples: Vintage Cola, Texas Root Beer and Tart & Sweet Lemonade. Then try the more unconventional flavors of Sweet Peach, Blueberry Breese, Black Cherry and Cherry Limeade. All of their drinks use granulated pure cane sugar, as opposed to the cheaper alternatives of high fructose cane syrup or newer alternative, liquid cane sugar (which is used in the Imperial Sugar Dr. Pepper currently being marketed). On the guided tour, sample six of these delicious flavors. As you sip the samples, explore the old equipment as the guide explains the bottling process. These machines date back to the early 1900s. Even now, the equipment is fully-functional, operating once a year as part of Dublin Bottling Work's birthday celebrations. After the bottling room, two museum areas showcase years of Dr. Pepper memorabilia. The guide uses the pieces of soft drink history to tell the story of Dublin Dr. Pepper, and the newly-revived Dublin Bottling Works. Our guide cheerfully answered all of our questions. After the tour, do not miss the ice cream floats served in the soda shop. You can choose from six creamy Blue Bell ice cream flavors and all eleven Dublin Bottling Works soft drinks. The shop also sells their sodas in singles, six packs, or by the case. The soda shop and museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 PM, with tours offered every 45 minutes. The guided tour can be purchased for $5.00 per adult. Self-guided tours are also available, but not all areas can be viewed.

Well, I am leaving another review, because there are 3 different businesses associated in the same block. A must see museum, and even if you don't like Dr. Pepper of soft drinks period, you will love it just for the history of the man who started it.

Bottle washing machine - only available to view on the guided tour.

But it is quality cheese, and you get see where it is made. Not being familiar with this shop, we decided, with the help of Matt (I believe he is the head cheese, maker) to put together a sampling of the available cheeses. The ones were picked are: Granbury Gold: 2-4 month aged Gouda style cheese. Granbury Vintage: 6-9 month aged Gouda style cheese. Birdville Reserve: Natural rind Trappist style cheese. Caraway to Heaven: Toasted caraway seeds in a Gouda style cheese. There was not a bad cheese in the bunch and we enjoyed them all, right down to the rind, which IS edible. I added a photo of all available cheese, and the prices. I totally expect to come back, whenever we need to put a cheese plate together. Oh, and as another testament, as we were leaving a group of 4 came in, and they had driven all the way from Dallas after learning of this cheese. And I will say, it is worth the drive. Bottom line: If you like cheese, this place is definitely worth going out of your way for!

If you are a fan of aged cheeses, this is a must visit! We tried the granbury gold (the mildest), award winning birdville reserve, caraway to heaven, granbury limited edition, and drunken monk: they were out of the bottom three. We purchased every one of them! Locally sourced and made...it was perfection! We will definitely be back for more on our next visit to the area!!!
