Make sure to ring the bell on the outside to let the ladies know you're there. This is a boutique vineyard in that they only make a few varieties and sell only that they have enough of. For example they had the most delicious olive oil made on site but because they only had a few bottles made, it wasn't for sale. You can tell this is not a vineyard looking for profit but quality is a must. If their harvest was minimal and not enough, they won't put it out. Another women owned vineyard, the wine is a little hit or miss. The first time I came I loved the wine and bought a bottle, second time not so much. But the experience was so fun! Lots of story telling and laughs. Each tasting is with bread olive oil and their homemade something in this case it was the marmalade. Absolutely great when drinking as much as you do. I would still return because I just love the intimate atmosphere.

On this trip, Miriam poured for us inside their intimate cave and provided a wonderful and informative tasting experience. They only produced a total of 8 barrels this year and they're currently pouring one rosado/rosé (Grenache & Zinfandel) and two mezcla tintas/red blends (Cabernet Sauvignon & Grenache), all of which are excellent. All parts of production are done by hand, from picking, de-stemming, pressing, and even bottling. They do have a de-stemming machine for the large branches/pieces, but all individual grape stems are pulled off by hand. Really remarkable. We always come back to Tres Mujeres and pick up a couple of bottles to tide us over until our next trip to VdG. I highly recommend you put them on your list of wineries to visit. TIP: There are a couple other small wineries on the same road which are also worth visiting, so definitely check them out. It's easy to visit them all in one day.

It was neat to see where they age the cheese and learn about the process. One of the highlights was sitting in the underground cellar which created a real rustic ambience --it was such a cool and unique experience and the staff working there were very friendly. For lunch, we had a portobello mushroom with cheese, a salad with cheese, and a quesadilla. Everything was fresh and tasty! We also tried some craft beers, which were really good, but unfortunately, they weren't for sale. Along with that, we got to taste some locally made wines, and they were also very enjoyable. Overall, this was a fun and unique excursion while visiting Ensenada. If you're there on a cruise, or just visiting, I definitely recommend checking it out!

Like the person who cut the cheese had just cleaned cow excrement and didn't wash their hands. The quesadilla lunch they gave us were small, cold, hard stale. I was offended that they served it. It showed disdain, to be honest. Another thing that hinted at disdain was the habanero salsa served that was so hot, a tiny drop burns your tongue for at least ten minutes. This is coming from someone who eats a lot of hot sauce. The fact that they put it on the table was a practical joke. They wanted someone to be crying in pain so they could laugh at us. The tour was ok, if you are into touring farms. I could have done without it. I was there for cheese and I don't know what awards they were winning for that cheese, but it must've been a participation award. The ice cream flavors I did like, I had violet and honey rosemary, but the ice cream consistency itself left a lot to be desired. Not churned enough. Barely creamy. The excursion was supposed to be easy, physically. It should have been listed as moderate physical activity. They made you walk back and forth (unnecessarily) past stinky cows, to go to different parts of the tour. Sit in a moldy cheese basement for the first tasting with one small glass of a decent red. Then you take your second tasting up the stairs on a tray with beers in a glass. That was an unnecessary hazard. One disabled woman had to be carried up the stairs. The tour guides did not seem to care. We could have toured the cave and had the whole tasting upstairs in the cafe, instead of all that walking, smelling cow excrement while eating ice cream, up and down stairs. Overall, it was a ripoff, an insult to cheese lovers, and a hazard to anyone with physical limitations.

I was thrilled to see an email on Saturday saying we were welcome for the 2nd tasting of the day and then filled with panic as I saw when it was sent, didn't have service and that time was quickly approaching. Thankfully i got wifi, replied that we would love to be there, got a reply saying we were good to go and off we went. I will thank our luck a large amount on the weather as many people cancelled due to pouring rain and flooded roads. The roads are rough, especially in the rain so a larger vehicle or a tour driver would definitely be beneficial but we made it happen. Upon arrival we were greeted with hugs, conversation, drinks and blankets and it honestly felt like we just showed up to the home of a family member. With the weather, it ended up just being the two of us and another couple who drove out for the day and previously was married at the vineyard which made for the most intimate afternoon tasting. My fiancé (oh that's still weird to say haha) is not really a wine drinker and I don't usually drinks reds but we both loved all 3 years of the tasting and the tapas that come with each were so delicious. One of the pairings was a taco with meat that I don't eat so I gave it to him and was more than thankful when Hilda noticed and asked her team to make a potato taco for me to take part. With the impeccable vibes, Carlos decided this was the right time and place and completely unbeknownst to me he had let James and Hilda know about his plan and they assisted in the greatest intimate proposal I could have ever dreamed of, rain and chilly temperatures and all. After our tasting we all spoke around the table like we had known each other for years and it really was the most special day and experience I could have ever asked for. We will definitely be back sooner than later, especially since we both fell in love with not only the humans on site but vineyard good boy Corcho. Thank you both for your hospitality, I honestly can't express it enough.

Having first tried their wine at Finca Altozano, our whole group was amazed by how good their wine was (Godoy) at such a good price point. We knew we had to seek it out on the way back to the states. And we're v glad we did. Although I suppose we should have called first! They seem to operate mostly by appointment and the building is a pretty nondescript warehouse-looking structure on a road full of similar buildings. We got lucky and found an employee tidying up and they graciously called someone who came by to give us a tour and tasting. Though our guide was not the owner (who we're told gives a fantastic tour as well), we had a fabulous time touring their very nice space, asking questions, and learning about the process. And once we got into the tasting itself, we were even more excited! :D They gave us incredibly generous pours (some might say too generous - be careful if you have to drive after!) of some of the best wines we've had throughout Mexico. And for the quality you get, the prices seemed so good that it was hard to imagine how they do it. They should really be proud. Even though we showed up unannounced, they treated us amazingly well and we left feeling like we were leaving good friends. We would love to come back again, and would encourage anyone going through the area who loves good wine to make room for this in their itinerary. P.S. If you need to sit and soak up some of those extra-generous pours afterward, Tacos De Birria right around the corner is legit af.

Since we were the only folks there that day, we had the tasting room all to ourselves. Omar spoke very good English and gave us a history of the winery and a description of the wines it makes. Then we toured the facility to get an in-depth talk of the wine-making process and the materials used. Omar is both knowledgeable and personable. He opened 5 bottles for us to taste, and all were very enjoyable, with varying flavors and complexity. Their bottle prices were very reasonable, so we bought 2 (limit for bringing back to US), and he even gave us one of the opened bottles as a complement to our ensuing lobster dinner in Puerto Nuevo. What wonderful hosts! I highly recommend this winery for an intimate tasting and wine experience in Guadalupe Valley.
