Colorblast is the worst! I used them 2 times to paint the exterior of 2 of my rental properties and…read morethey seemed to do okay for a fair price. Then I hired them for a pretty big interior job painting my mom's house (who had passed away) including all interior, cabinets, removing popcorn from ceilings and paneling from 1 wall. I don't know where to begin. They took weeks to complete, which they never did. They flooded the floors, including the subfloor under the carpet, which the flooring installer later had to dry out to install the new floors. They was drywall mud and paint slung everywhere over the house and they painted over hinges, outlets, random light switches, alarm sensor, took down the fire alarms wired to the alarm system after removing the popcorn and sealed up the ceiling without replacing them. They didn't cover new doors and casings just installed by a finish carpenter, the doorbell case, or AC controller. They covered up all the AC & heater vents and turned on the heater, not once, but 2 more times after being told not to. They again turned it on with the return open with no filter so all the dust would go into the system with no filter. The walls looked like they were half way painted with primer or just not painted. The owner, Nathan, texted me in the middle of the night with rude messages. He told me that the house was just going to be sold, so why did I care if it was a good job. They left their food and junk all over the house and there was paint residue in the front yard, driveway and down the street. I gave him several chances to fix what he had done. It got to be too much damage. I paid them half of the money promised. I then had to pay another painter the full amount, plus much more for all the damage they had caused. I had to replace all of the outlets and light switches because so many were painted over, there was no recovery. They refused to return the 4 mirrored door railings that they took to remove all the paint they got on them. They are custom doors and I had to pay over $900 to get them replaced. When I tried to discuss it with Nathan's wife, the co-owner, Amanda, she threatened me with a mechanic lien against my property. They caused so much stress and so much damage and additional costs, I strongly advise anyone against using them for anything. The way Amanda treated me after finding out all of this happened, made it even worse. In my opinion, they are dishonest and terrible people from the owners down to the crew. I have so many photos and other workers that were there who can attest to how bad they really were!!!

Easy to understand and appreciate. They expertly tackled a dry rot nightmare on the back of our house - a nightmare which we though had been remedied by another contractor years ago. Turns out that contractor made matter worse. Antone and crew were able to identify the sources of water intrusion - roof, gutter, a rotted window, wood siding, you name it. It took some time chasing down the dry rot, but the end result is that this side of the house looks as good as the time of original construction. The crew was punctual, neat and tidy, coordinated well with other trades, and they were fair in their pricing. All in all, a solid performance. I have referred NS Contractors to a work colleague, and will invites them back to address some fix-it items on the front of the house.

PLEASE READ: I wish I had listened to Craig A., Senior…read moreProject Manager at Realty Builders (not a salesman -- a true professional), when I was planning my kitchen and bathroom remodel. I spoke with six GCs. Most were cheaper -- roughly $20k less for the kitchen, $10k less for the bathroom. At the time, it looked like savings. It wasn't. Craig A. explained the importance of: * Proper wall blocking for cabinets and hood venting * Replacing old copper hot and cold lines while walls were open * Installing flooring correctly wall-to-wall under cabinets * Pulling permits for inspections and proper workmanship Others focused on cost. Permits weren't necessary, they said. Now that the remodel is "finished," the shortcuts are painfully clear: hood vent vibrations, leaking copper lines, uneven cabinets. To fix it, cabinets, drywall, flooring, and some finishes must be removed and replaced, and some items can't even be reused. The fix is now $43,538 -- far more than the $30k I thought I was saving. Craig wasn't trying to sell me extras. He was protecting my investment. If you meet him, you'll see he's genuine, professional, and honest. I was too focused on the upfront price to appreciate the value of his advice. Lesson learned: a remodel can look beautiful on the surface, but what matters most is what's behind the walls. Cutting corners isn't savings -- it's deferred expense. I'm actually kicking myself because I took everyone off Angie's List and considered only the other lower bids. Craig was a referral from a close friend who told me upfront, "They may be a little more expensive, but you'll be happy in the long run." They were right. I hope others can learn from my experience. When we're ready for our backyard deck, we'll be calling Craig A. and Realty Builders.

We needed a room painted quickly, to accommodate our busy schedule. I found John right here on Yelp. Unlike a couple of his colleagues, who were rude and dismissive on the phone (and one of whom has yet to call me back, a week later), John answered the phone promptly (on a Sunday!), addressed all of my questions, asked all of the right ones, and waited patiently while I consulted with my wife on his quote. He came the very next day, and completed the job in less than a day and a half. John provided expert input in choosing a shade and finish (who knew that white paint is not just white paint, or the secret to choosing the right white?). He showed up equipped with a copy of his license, insurance and bonding papers. Although he had to move some furniture and other items to do the job (and did so single-handedly and without complaint), he was able to get the job done with absolutely no disruption to the household. And it is truly the best paint job I have ever seen. John's business is called East Bay PAINTER, but it turns out that's not all he does. While he was working, I asked whether he happened to know a good handyman who could remove an old decaying wall cabinet and install shelves. John was happy to do the job, came back a couple of days later, and -- once again -- did a fast, efficient, reliable and professional job, even hauling away the old cabinet. Although he does not sell himself cheap (nor should he -- he is a topflight professional artist and craftsman!), John's prices are reasonable and competitive. John, you have certainly not seen the last of me!

I think he may have even saved our marriage! After the Direct TV installer left a mess, we needed it fixed. We hired a handyman off of Craiglist, which I do not recommend. He assured us he could clean up and make the house look like nothing had happened. He lied. When he was done, there were noticeable spots on the house, and we were out $200. I came to Yelp to find a painter to fix the mess this handyman had left behind. Well, I should have come to Yelp in the first place . . . I called John at East Bay Painter and told him our situation. He came by our house in an hour and gave us his assessment of what needed to be done and quoted a price cheaper than the stupid handyman from Craigslist. Within a week from his visit, he got a sample from the house to get the matching paint, painted the messed up area for an amazingly affordable price. I never dreamed that I could afford such a professional and pleasant painter for such a reasonable price! It was a relatively small job, but he treated us with the same level of respect as if we were having him paint the whole house. If you need anything painted, give John a call. I intend to work with him for as long as he paints! Thank you, John the super painter!
