The lobby is pretty, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The rooms are quiet and provide all the necessities one could need. My husband arrived early from NYC and was able to check in a few hours before I arrived from another country, which we really appreciated. The room itself was nice, with crisp bedding, and it felt clean overall. However, our bathroom trash had not been emptied from the previous guests. It actually made me smirk because everything else was so well done, but it did make me wonder about quality checks. I also found the linoleum floors practical, though I didn't love the echo or hollow sound they create. Carpets feel cozier, but I understand that hard floors are much easier to maintain and disinfect. Overall, I would definitely stay here again in the future. Cheers from NYC.

There is construction going on in one of the restaurants, Eck, and work starts pretty early. That was it. Very minor. Location: A little far away for walking to most of the tourist attractions but only a short bus ride away from everything and the stop is about 75 yards away. Stayed there for a week and really helped make the Berlin vacation memorable and enjoyable. The hotel itself is beautiful. The food was very good (try the schnitzel and the mousse). Beds comfortable and showers powerful. But the staff was what really made it special. Jonny the Concierge is about as friendly and knowledgeable as I've ever seen. When I checked in on Sunday, 8/17, I lost one of my credit cards. The young, shorter woman w/ short hair (didn't get her name) checking me immediately called Visa and efficiently checked me in as well as help resolve my issue. All throughout the week, the front desk people and Jonny made a non-German-speaking, lone traveler like me visiting Berlin for the first time, comfortable and knowledgeable about their great city. Few hotels have had staff top to bottom that was this good and trust me, I travel a lot and am a hotel snob. Don't worry about the distance to the main tourist attractions. A 75 yard walk gets you to the M100 or M29 bus for only 2.60 Euros and gets you there while driving through the other tourist attractions. One piece of trivia, I learned from visiting the Bendlerblock memorial to the July 20, 1944 assassination attempt on Hitler as depicted in the movie "Valkyrie" that some of the guys that were supporting Von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) were hanging out at the lounge of the Esplanade waiting for word to get going. Bendlerblock is only about a ten minute walk from the hotel.

This was one of the more disappointing Marriott stays I've had in recent years…read more While there were a few bright spots--most notably Patrick from the concierge team, who was consistently helpful and professional--the overall experience was plagued by a series of avoidable service failures. During our stay, we encountered issues involving room maintenance, housekeeping, communication, and follow-through. None of the individual problems would have been catastrophic on their own, but the cumulative effect significantly impacted our family's experience. Traveling internationally with young children requires a hotel to be reliable, and unfortunately that consistency was lacking throughout our stay. One particularly frustrating issue involved a family bicycle tour arranged through the hotel. We were not informed until approximately 30 minutes before departure that the meeting location was off-site and required additional transportation. With two young children, that simply wasn't enough notice to reasonably participate. Despite the circumstances, we later found ourselves disputing charges related to the excursion. To the hotel's credit, management eventually acknowledged many of the service shortcomings and offered compensation. However, much of the response felt reactive rather than proactive, with issues often requiring multiple follow-ups before being addressed. The property itself is well located and has potential, but based on our experience, the execution fell far short of what I expect from a premium Marriott-branded hotel. I sincerely hope management focuses on improving communication and guest recovery processes, because the staff members who genuinely care are being let down by inconsistent operations.

I'm a globalist and they weren't able to give me a suite upgrade, but they gave me a bigger room and a $30 food voucher, which was appreciated. I found my room door incredibly hard to open! I actually thought that the key didn't work, but once I leaned all of my body weight into the door, it opened! I would say my room was a little loud outside the mall one of the weekend nights. I discovered on the second day that when housekeeping came in, they were opening the windows (which I didn't like because I had them closed), so maybe that's why it was so noisy and I didn't even realize it was open. I went to the spa and was a little annoyed that I couldn't use my iPad to read because it had a camera. I totally get the rule, but I did not see that anywhere on the website. Had I known, I would've planned ahead and brought something else to read. It is a coed spa and you don't need to wear swimwear in the sauna or steam room. Apparently to one guy that meant he also didn't have to wear a towel! It is a nice pool and hot tub area with nice views and an outdoor terrace. They do allow kids most of the day and it was pretty noisy when the kids were there. The next day I went at nine in the morning and it was very quiet with no kids. While I was there, the elevator to the spa was broken so you had to take the stairs up one floor. That was fine because you can't help it being broken, but I had already done the walk to the specific spa elevator before I saw the sign that it was broken. I think they should've had more signage in each hallway. I did the breakfast buffet every day and it was very nice. Lots of hot and cold options, including champagne! They also have some made to order items like omelettes, other eggs, pancakes, and French toast. Since I was globalist, I also had lounge access. It's open all day, but they have food at breakfast, a couple desserts for afternoon tea, and some appetizers/snacks and beer and wine in the evening. There were some improvement areas, but it's a great hotel as a category 4.

We would definitely stay there again. The only negatives were that that the door card mechanisms were incredibly temperamental and the kind receptionists had to come to our aid a few times. The location also isn't the best if you like being right in the heart of it all and there are few restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but it is only a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station so nowhere is far away.

So I decided to play it safe and book a hotel. I found Lindemann's on hotels.com, and made a booking for the first night. Right afterward, literally within one or two minutes, my friends called me up, and I no longer needed the hotel room. Unfortunately, it turned out that the cancellation policy was such that none of my reservation could be refunded, since it was within 24 hours, even though I had just booked it. So immediately I called up hotels.com, and they said that usually in cases like this the hotel would be reasonable and refund the money, that I should just go ahead and cancel the booking, and that they would get in touch with the hotel. This I did, and later I heard back from hotels.com that the manager at the hotel refused to refund the booking. I have to say that I find this pretty unreasonable: it's not like the hotel lost an opportunity to give that room to someone else during the 20 minutes it took for me to cancel the reservation. Obviously I cannot speak to the quality of the stay, but this interaction makes me seriously doubt the way this hotel treats its customers. I wonder what other ways the management finagles money out of people who choose to stay at this "cheap" hotel.

Simply put, there is heart in every aspect of this place. Spacious, seemingly freshly painted, white rooms (with blue or other color curtains etc.) come with at least one extra bed against the wall to use as a settee; nice comforters and pillows; cute table and chairs; plethora of shelves. Expansive wall of Cathedral-tall windows which open fully so you feel as if you have doors to the outside in your room. Ask for a room that faces out to the side of the building, with patio of Italian restaurant in view, (rather than facing inside of the Quad.) Beautiful sun shines into these rooms for most of the day. Then there's the daily breakfast buffet: Museli, fruit, yoghurt, four or five kinds of breads, sometimes croissants, three kinds of cheese, four cold-cut varieties, cukes, tomatoes, radishes and more. The best part however is the staff. They are all warm and gracious, making the Transit feel like home. Isa, Albert, Jan, and Michael Kuhn stand out as superlative hosts. Oh, and did I mention the all-night bar in the big main room?
