The lobby is large and spacious, and the use of coloured glass in combination with dark wood already hints at the modern character of the rooms themselves. These are spacious, very contemporary and absolutely beautiful. Connections for laptops and iPhones are standard, the television is cleverly hidden behind a black glass wall. Big wall size curtains descend from the ceiling at the push of a button and add to the amazing hi-tech feel of the room. The bathroom is perfection. Instead of the usual dark corner, here the stylists used a glass wall and lots of mirrors to add the bathroom to the room, not separate it. The big walk-in rain shower is pure joy! The swimming pool, sauna and gym area are the next surprise. Up on the 7th floor, they have once again ceiling-to-floor windows with a fantastic view of the city. Went to Berlin for my son to compete for America in the International Dragonboat Races, and the team booked us all here. First off, it's on the outskirts of town, so you need to quickly learn how to navigate the bus/train/tram situation to get around (it was daunting due to the long German street names even for me despite being a native New Yorker and learning some basic German for 6 weeks before going. That being said, you can do it if you use the train phone apps with maps and all day or all week or all month tickets) or use Uber or Bolts (the European Lyft) but any form of taxi is super expensive so be careful. Back to the hotel. We had numerous friends and family in multiple rooms. In a few the A/C was broken. In some the mini fridge was broken. And did anything get fixed? Nope. Even someone who needed a fridge for medications they had with them could not be accommodated. And when they asked their maintenance man to fix the problems, the answer was no, he can't fix it. Also, the phones were down for at least 3 full days. You couldn't call down to the front desk. Even if the phones were working, you'll be charged even for a local call. We left before the phones were fixed, so who knows how long they were down in the end. Do yourself a favor. Get something more central. And get something with proper maintenance. I didn't eat there, but drinks are well made but alcohol weak and expensive. The breakfast the team paid for was lame. Go somewhere else. Even my friend who has been living in Berlin for 12 years found the location of our hotel an odd choice since it was so far from everything you will want to do including food, bars, museums, sightseeing, and any type of market.

As others have noted, it is not really within walking distance of the usual tourist attractions of Berlin. It was a short walk to the starting area for the marathon. However, not being walkable to the tourist attractions also meant it was a bit off the path which had helped me discover some solid, less touristy places to eat (nice bonus imo). Public transport in the area is also easy to navigate and with their 24-hour and weekly pass options, not a huge cost which will throw your vacation out of balance. The rooms were clean and they were clearly prepared for the world post-COVID. The King bed room was big enough to accommodate the two of us although other hotels may offer slightly larger rooms. The A/C didn't really seem to work well, which was a bit of a downer given the unseasonably warm Fall weather. The staff was friendly and overall service was good. The concierge was quick to provide recommendations, arrange a taxi, and even went as far as provide us details on how and where to get our necessary pre-flight COVID testing completed. The front desk was quick to help when I managed to loose my key at the marathon starting line. I am not sure if I will ever be back to Berlin and if so for what. That being said, I would still recommend having this Sheraton in the mix of options.

I discovered on the second day that when housekeeping came in, they were opening the windows (which I didn't like because I had them closed), so maybe that's why it was so noisy and I didn't even realize it was open. I went to the spa and was a little annoyed that I couldn't use my iPad to read because it had a camera. I totally get the rule, but I did not see that anywhere on the website. Had I known, I would've planned ahead and brought something else to read. It is a coed spa and you don't need to wear swimwear in the sauna or steam room. Apparently to one guy that meant he also didn't have to wear a towel! It is a nice pool and hot tub area with nice views and an outdoor terrace. They do allow kids most of the day and it was pretty noisy when the kids were there. The next day I went at nine in the morning and it was very quiet with no kids. While I was there, the elevator to the spa was broken so you had to take the stairs up one floor. That was fine because you can't help it being broken, but I had already done the walk to the specific spa elevator before I saw the sign that it was broken. I think they should've had more signage in each hallway. I did the breakfast buffet every day and it was very nice. Lots of hot and cold options, including champagne! They also have some made to order items like omelettes, other eggs, pancakes, and French toast. Since I was globalist, I also had lounge access. It's open all day, but they have food at breakfast, a couple desserts for afternoon tea, and some appetizers/snacks and beer and wine in the evening. There were some improvement areas, but it's a great hotel as a category 4.

Right afterward, literally within one or two minutes, my friends called me up, and I no longer needed the hotel room. Unfortunately, it turned out that the cancellation policy was such that none of my reservation could be refunded, since it was within 24 hours, even though I had just booked it. So immediately I called up hotels.com, and they said that usually in cases like this the hotel would be reasonable and refund the money, that I should just go ahead and cancel the booking, and that they would get in touch with the hotel. This I did, and later I heard back from hotels.com that the manager at the hotel refused to refund the booking. I have to say that I find this pretty unreasonable: it's not like the hotel lost an opportunity to give that room to someone else during the 20 minutes it took for me to cancel the reservation. Obviously I cannot speak to the quality of the stay, but this interaction makes me seriously doubt the way this hotel treats its customers. I wonder what other ways the management finagles money out of people who choose to stay at this "cheap" hotel.

Also, their prime location, next to the U-Bahn Potsdamer station, makes it a key jumping off point for whatever/where-ever you want to go and do.... Charlottenburg, Kaufhaus (KaDeWa), the Eastern Gallery, or even the Brandenburger Berlin Flughafen are all within a convenient U-Bahn ride from here. It still glows in my mind…read more Centrally located amidst a festive area of international restaurants, cafes, and shops, Hotel Transit is pitch perfect. Simply put, there is heart in every aspect of this place. Spacious, seemingly freshly painted, white rooms (with blue or other color curtains etc.) come with at least one extra bed against the wall to use as a settee; nice comforters and pillows; cute table and chairs; plethora of shelves. Expansive wall of Cathedral-tall windows which open fully so you feel as if you have doors to the outside in your room. Ask for a room that faces out to the side of the building, with patio of Italian restaurant in view, (rather than facing inside of the Quad.) Beautiful sun shines into these rooms for most of the day. Then there's the daily breakfast buffet: Museli, fruit, yoghurt, four or five kinds of breads, sometimes croissants, three kinds of cheese, four cold-cut varieties, cukes, tomatoes, radishes and more. The best part however is the staff. They are all warm and gracious, making the Transit feel like home. Isa, Albert, Jan, and Michael Kuhn stand out as superlative hosts. Oh, and did I mention the all-night bar in the big main room?
