We had a lovely 4 night stay here…read more I was well rested after the train ride from Amsterdam. We hopped on a bus and stopped at the Franklinstr stop which happens to only be a block away from the hotel. Lana was at the front desk to check us in. She was super nice and personable. Our room was quite spacious. There was a safe in the closet which is the only thing we need so we had a spot to put our important stuff. The closet was a spacious enough for both of us. I like the seating spot by the coat rack where you can store shoes. This place is modern and clean. The drying rack in the bathroom was a huge plus. The beds were comfortable and because of the rooms facing each other vs facing the street, the noise was never too loud. We only opted for their breakfast one time. The selection was nice and there was something for everyone. I took 1 star away because there were two incidents that had us confused. We came back one day to find a pillowcase on one of the nightstands. Another day, our beds weren't made. It was the day that we were given a drink token which we of course redeemed. I'm going to echo what was previously mentioned about this place being in a bad area. It's in a great area. The closest bus stop is less than 5 mins walk. The other one is only a couple more minutes the other way. To be honest, I preferred this area over the city center. We always got a good nights sleep since there was no traffic noise waking us up.

My Hot New Find for a good hotel in Berlin!! I loved this place because it was reasonably…read morepriced, a nice walk to the U or S-bahn subways, 2 blocks from the bus and you don't really need to drive. In the Charlottenberg section of Berlin, this hotel offers a full German breakfast (see pix), a nice bed, good modern surroundings, clean, good helpful workers. What's there not to love? The hotel was clean everywhere you looked. Rooms are smaller by American standards, normal by Euro and Asian standards. There's a full bar next to reception where you can order drinks, espresso and coffee (cheap coffees). When Yelpers mentioned this hotel is not in a good location I was thinking the area would be unsafe. What Yelpers actually meant was it's not in the center of Berlin. The hotel is on a street with 4 car dealerships and a University. Then you walk a few minutes for public transportation (I love walking). Well I know not to stay in the City Center of any town because: I don't like being around tourists, I don't like American hotels in foreign countries (super expensive), and I like local flava. A similar hotel in the touristy part of Berlin would have costed €200- €400 a night. I have friends who picked typical and boring American hotels in the center of Berlin and wanted to leave their hotels when they saw mine. I'd rather spend that money dining and wining. And I did. Ha! Pat on the back for this find William! Tip: Love the bathrooms with heated towel racks (see website photos), they warm the entire bathroom, a bonus when it's 25 and snowing outside. The Grohe soothing showerhead was another bonus. Visits: 1 Definitely my new home base when I return. Danke schön Novum Style DAS Berlin.

I also got a "bid what you want" upgrade to a room on a high floor overlooking the street. The layout for the 2nd tier room is small but perfectly functional for a single traveler or couple, and I loved the thoughtful touches like a small chair in the bathroom, umbrella in the room with a holder, and hooks on the wall near the closet. The (nonalcoholic) drink minibar is free to take from and refilled daily which is another plus! And they had small chocolates that were refilled daily as well. I didn't partake in any breakfast or other food, but it did look good when I passed by. The garden area outside is nice to relax or work in. The hotel itself is on a quieter street but near many different modes of public transit - tram, bus, subway. The front desk warned me about needing coins for the tram / bus and was happy to exchange some bills into coins for me every morning as well. Not many taxis passing by but the front desk will call one for you very quickly if you ask. There are also bikes and scooters you can borrow. Overall I had a great stay and would have loved to stay longer! I had to move to another hotel for work, but wish I could have stayed at the i31.

Limited quantity. - free haribo gummy bears at reception. Danke! Cons: - not the most sexy of neighborhoods, although so central and a ton of highly rated restaurants and cafes nearby. - street itself is quite ugly. - bed wasn't the comfiest unless you like really hard beds. Side note: the beds weren't awful, just super hard and I'm a plush kind of gal. - breakfast looked magnificent, but was quite pricy at 16 €. If you can find a deal and in Berlin for a short time, looking to be near the train station, this is a no brainer.

The hotel has a good, retro feel and I love the hot showers there! Staff had been very nice, polite and simply helpful and because of the popular Benedict breakfast restaurant inside this hotel that opens in the morning and runs into late at night, the hotel feels very safe to me. The next time I'm in Berlin, I would definitely try to stay at this place again. Some rooms may be on a smaller side (and priced accordingly on a more budget side), but they do have much larger rooms, too! The shampoo, soap and lotion smell so nice and very aromatherapeutic! It's so relaxing being here at this hotel. Overall, I love it and it will be the hotel I look at first the next time I am in Berlin again!

The hotel was…read moreconveniently located near metro stations, bus stops, and lovely places for coffee and brunch. The staff was super friendly and was able to answer all my questions, and they even gave me a handy map and a list of local events and sights to check out during my stay. The room was comfortable, and I had some of the best sleep I've had in ages on the super-comfortable bed too. I genuinely can't think of anything negative to say about this hotel. My only regret is not checking out the Benedict restaurant on the ground floor -- it looked busy, and the diners always looked very satisfied with their food, so that's something I'll have to check out next time I'm staying here. One thing to mention: if you're travelling for work, ask the staff to put you in a room with enough power sockets. Unfortunately, I could use only one power socket by the table, while the remaining two were pretty far from the office table (there's one socket per each side of the bed, which is helpful if you need to charge your phone or other devices). While this meant that I wasn't able to work in the comfort of my room, I'd recommend checking out the local coffee shops (make sure you go on a day you can use a computer, as a lot of Berlin coffeeshops have a "no laptop" policy on Saturdays and Sundays). That aside, this hotel is excellent, and I guarantee you'll have a tremendous 5-star experience here that'll make you want to come back -- I know I will!

When I went to that floor, the room was not found. Eventually the front desk staff noted it was in a building next door. So we had to go outside and enter an apartment looking building. Luckily it had an elevator otherwise you'll need to climb up narrow spiral stairs. Looks like an old apartment building turned into a hotel. Anyway, the room was spacious with a large walk in closet, 2 twin beds and a rollout sofa bed at the opposite end of the room. The beds are comfy & we slept well! We also had a kitchenette that included a stovetop, tea kettle, and sink. The restroom included a shampoo/bodywash combo and hand soap. These are large refillable bottles. They do not provide mini size in order to be eco friendly. The wifi worked well and the heater kept the room warm. In the main hotel space, there is a restaurant/bar that is open until 10-11pm perhaps. While the waitress didn't speak much english she tried her best to serve us drinks. The seating area is nice for dining or if you bring food from outside there are areas to sit as well. Didn't have time to explore much more of the hotel but they have a nice dry sauna. Staff was helpful in giving directions. They offer a morning breakfast buffet for 22 EUR. A bit pricey, but you can find cafes nearby that open around 7-8am (Coffee Fellows). I just wanted to purchase a piece of fruit, but the hotel only offered the buffet. There are a decent amount of Italian restaurants in walking distance. Close to Checkpoint Charlie and a few souvenir shops. Many of the restaurants require reservations. So def. try to book those in advance. Otherwise you'll find a kebab place or fast food in the area. A close walk to the trains and not too far from the mall. Brandenburg Gate is about a 25 minute walk. Overall nice stay in a quiet area with friendly staff. I'd suggest bringing your own shampoo/conditioner and toothpaste & brush.

Same great stay, with masks and vaccination certificates, alas. Excellent location, quiet street, but you can walk everywhere. Friendly service, unusual quirky rooms. I can certainly recommend this hotel for business and leisure stays.
