So I walk in and the nice cashier was busy with a customer and asked (whom I believe to be the manager) to do a return for him since he was busy. The manager came up and immediately had the worst attitude ever. He grabbed my shoes and studied the bottom of one of them forever to see if I had worn them outside and wouldn't make eye contact with me. I handed him the receipt and he then proceeded to talk down to me in a very snarky way, "You don't have the box?" "No, I don't have the box." "Why don't you have the box? Did you buy them without the box or did you just crumple it up and throw it away?" (Again in his snarky attitude.) "I don't have the box." "Next time bring the box in." (Even more snarky) At this point I realized that he was not only mean and snarky, I felt that he was being sexist and that he felt he could talk down to me or over me because I'm a young woman. He proceeded to get my phone number for the receipt and he made the hardest/angriest signature I've ever seen. And no, you will never need the box to return shoes, but he acted like he wasn't going to accept my return without it. This man was average height, dark brown hair, slightly on the heavier side, and had to have been around my age, late 20s early 30s. Worst employee!

I was greeted when I walked in and a salesperson stopped by as I was looking around to ask if I was finding things okay. They have a pretty large selection of women's shoes as well as lots of sale shoes towards the back. You can also find accessories like socks and purses as well as knickknack type toys, etc. towards the front checkout. I was able to find the shoes I wanted fairly quickly, but they were a little limited in my size (6-6.5). I think you can have them order different sizes and get them shipped to you. They have a rewards program where you can earn points. The shoes I went with were cheaper at DSW than on Amazon. Overall I like DSW and think they have a good selection of different styles. It's nice to be able to try stuff on in person, especially shoes. Parking in this area is a bit of a nightmare as the parking lot is always crowded and it's not laid out very well.

They must use some sort of odd formula that dates back to a thinner, shorter America raised on hard little baby shoes. They have no men's 10E at all, which is not that unusual a size. I know DSW carries this size because online I can easily find it. The brick and mortar stores are useful to come in and see the shoes, but if you have a wide, narrow, small or large size you're not going to go home with a pair of shoes from here. Since this is Western Michigan where there seems to be some sort of heavily enforced law that all salespeople be nice, the salespeople here are nice.
