It appeared it was going to totally kill my planned vacation. I was on my way in under 8 hours. Mr Boatright loaned me a car to get to the keys. Yes gave me a car (no rental fee to leave the state) oh and at the time I was not a US resident either. (Greanted he had my car...) I was gone 10 days and when I got back it was ready in 2 more days. (I stayed with the mechanic whom I have stayed friends with till this day). It needed a top end rebuild and the turbo and it took 12 days and the car ran flawless. The following year on my annual trip to the keys I lost the transmission and I rented a Uhaul and towed it to Boatrights and was on my way again in a few days. In about 2 year time frame I basically replaced my cars drive train I did love that car and I sold it a few years later for 12k. With over 500K miles on it still running like a top. There was no urgency on their part as they spent weeks working on my car to do about $800 of work. Then, all of a sudden, they called one morning out of the blue and woke me when I wasn't feeling well by arguing with my boyfriend. Southern Auto said that if I didn't pick up the car and pay that day, they were going to lock my car up in storage and charge me a daily fee. I've never encountered this type of aggressive behavior from someone servicing my vehicle. When I picked up the car, the part that props up the hood was suddenly missing/broken. Also, the lip of the top half of the timing belt cover was exposed. When we asked them to properly fit it, a mechanic went at it with a crowbar, which is not good. They also didn't do the oil change we asked for. We complained about our missing/broken part, and went to the Honda dealer to buy the part on our own dime. After much arguing, they agreed to install the part. I figured that I'd pick up the car the next day since it was getting to be late in the evening at this point. Despite the late hour, the shop insisted that I still pick up the car that night or, you guessed it...storage fees. It's threats, threats, threats with this place. I can't see very well late at night, and I was so upset by how rude and unprofessional everyone was that I ended up having an accident on my way home. This shop was so mean and rude to my entire family. They got us all worked up to the point that we were arguing with them and each other. The mechanic had the nerve to tell us that "he'd never work on another one of our vehicles." He's right about that!

I am happy to say that the nice folks at Gerber Collison in Brunswick recommended Bob and his staff at Barnes Auto, in Brunswick. Years ago I had an older car towed to Bob. It needed a new fuel pump. I wasn't going to drop the gas tank on a gravel driveway. Bob called me up prior to replacing the pump. He informed me that the PCM (power control module, the main computer) was bad. And since that part wasn't available he suggested scraping the car. A Saturn station wagon with approximately 295,000 miles had served me well. Lots of other places would have been happy to charge me hundreds of dollars to replace the fuel pump and then call me with the bad news. I recommend Bob and his staff at Barnes Auto to anyone looking for an honest shop where INTEGRITY is more important than a making a quick dollar. Thank you very much Bob, Tammy and the techs in back. Luckily the car did start and we took it to a reputable mechanic who did look at Wednesday and said it simply needed a new battery. Car is fixed and back. This place lacks communication and should have said they were too busy to look at the car. The car is needed to get to work and back. Would not recommend for these reasons.
