Lovely renovations - Dryden is a gem!

The film curators at the Dryden Theatre bring in amazing films! It's another Rochester gem. I love it here because they always have something new and different to see, whether it's an unknown documentary film to a classic from 40 years ago that otherwise you'd never see on the big screen. They often feature seasonal favorites depending on the time of year - I'm looking forward to Christmas time for that reason!

I'm a fan, but I kind of miss the old theater decor. I'm glad the curtain remains. Unfortunately limited in bathroom stalls.

There are only 25 such theaters in the US, and Cinema Tinseltown in Rochester is one of them. We bought tickets a month in advance and drove from Buffalo to see the movie. The entrance to the building is opposite a bright and colorful food concession stand. My first impression was that the theater was neat and very clean. The IMAX theater auditorium is equipped with very comfortable, soft seats. Everything was perfect! Not to mention "The Odyssey" which we fully enjoyed. We are already thinking about repeating the experience and coming to Rochester to see "Dune" in December.

And I was impressed! It was so well clean and talented care of. They had merch that I haven't seen at other theaters. I plan to go back and check out the arcade (so cool!) and there was a good amount of seating in the lobby. It's a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it. The bathrooms could probably use a sign in the hallway, but they were otherwise clean and well kept. The theater that we happened to be in was elevated, and I have not seen one like that in such a long time. We sat all the way in the back, in comfy leather recliners. The movie looked great on screen, and it sounded great, too. I will definitely go again!

As soon as the movie starts this lady gets on her phone talking loudly for like 5 mins. Then she gets off and is talking loudly to herself because at this point she's alone. One of the patrons in front of us went and told staff. Staff came and quietly asked her to stop. That made it worse. Then everyone started asking her to stop talking. Again made it worse. The two ladies in front of us got their things to leave so I followed them out assuming this was going down the cops coming lane. I asked the staff to pause the movie and they did. It was paused for probably 30 mins and handled outside of the actual theater we were in. They offered everyone who stayed free passes for another movie and resumed. The staff stayed calm in a stressful situation and were apologetic for something totally out of their control. I just wanted management to know how good their staff handled this situation. Every time we go the food is good and the place is spotless. The seats are the most comfortable out of any theater in the Rochester area. Recommend all day

I wish I had a better review for AMC!…read more I visit the theater often in general - I am a Regal Unlimited member, I love Tinseltown and Apple Cinema. I would consider myself a movie buff, and I love to check out new places! But I was not impressed with AMC in Webster. To those unfamiliar with it, it was confusing trying to figure out where to purchase tickets. There was no kiosk, and the ticket counter didn't have anyone working it. Eventually we went to concessions to ask, and picked up our tickets there. The alternative was ordering online, and there was a hefty convenience fee per ticket. The theater was clean, and the seats were cozy! The picture and sound were good. Prices were about on point for a matinee movie. We didn't try any food. My biggest complaint honestly is that there is not much of an incline in the seating area. I had a reasonably tall gentleman seated in front of me who didn't recline his chair, and due to the lower seat of the screen and the lack of incline, the shadow of his head was in the way. I ended up having to maneuver in my seat to make it more comfortable. It's not a terrible theater by any means, but I would definitely rank it among my least favorites due to that. If I were to go again, I would make sure to grab one of the front seats!

My kids are 6, 4, and 2 and each of them had a genuinely wonderful time. My husband and I did as well. We brought our lunch both days and ate in the cafeteria. We brought our stroller in with us all around which was helpful for toting around all the stuff you need for 5 people. I really can't complain about a thing. There were employees all over the place cleaning up constantly and taking care of the exhibits while also not interfering with the kids and their play at all. On friday and Saturday they have extended hours into the evening which is what lead us to come when we did. We were happy to have extra time each of those days and stayed well beyond 4pm which is the closing time the rest of the days. If you are considering giving this place a go, check it out for sure!!!

This place reminded me of the Exploratorium in San Francisco, , except instead of interactive exhibits highlighting scientific principles, these interactive exhibits were all about play! Play for both the kids, and the grown-ups. They had a ropes course for the younger kids, and another one for older kids and the grown-ups. For the kids, they had a scale model of a local grocery chain, where the kids could either "work", or "shop", right down to the working checkout lanes. They had a Sesame Street exhibit...., A butterfly habitat, and and All kinds of different indoor and outdoor play areas. I can still hula hoop! (for a whole five seconds...). They also had all of the exhibits on toys, games, and video games. This is the home of the national toy, Hall of Fame, and the national video game Hall of Fame. it was so cool seeing toys from my childhood, and a wide range of video games and pinball machine machines that are playable. The price to get in is very reasonable, and they also offer a military/veterans discount, and memberships to the museum, which offer free museum admission. There is a parking garage attached to the museum, with a small charge for parking, and there is a also a small charge for the ropes course, the butterfly habitat, or to play the video games/pinball machines. (4 tokens for a dollar, and every machine only takes one token...) This is an absolutely fun museum for kids of all ages. Thanks!!!
