The technician removed the product from my entire first hand before telling me it was apparently hard gel rather than regular gel and that she wasn't qualified/authorised to remove it. I'm not a nail technician, so I'm not sure how a customer is expected to know the technical difference when their own trained technician couldn't identify it before starting the removal. I even offered to skip the manicure completely and just have the product removed, but they couldn't do that either because the technicians available weren't qualified to perform hard-gel removal. I left with no manicure, one hand partially removed and the other untouched. Townhouse then refused to refund me for the incomplete service and instead gave me account points, despite me clearly saying I don't want credit or another appointment. Very poor handling of the appointment and subsequent complaint. I definitely won't be returning.

I had the best manicure of my life at the OPI Nail Bar, located in Selfridges. My nails really stood the test over the course of two weeks: briney salt water in Barcelona and Valencia, partying hardy in Ibiza, and lugging/packing/unpacking/re-packing a 32 kg suitcase (I like to shop, sue me!). The amazing part is that my nails did not chip or break. They were in pristine condition after all of this. It was pricey though, I wasn't expecting to pay $50 for a manicure but I was desperate and it was worth it. The Nail Bar has all of the new OPI colors available both to use for your manicure and for purchase. You even get to pick out which lotion you want to use...that hand massage was heaven! The technicians take their time and are in no hurry to rush you out (even though the space is tiny, especially if you already have shopping bags). My only complaint is that because the nail bar is located in the women's street wear section of Selfridges (where all of the Oasis, All Saints, Miss Sixty stuff is), that I was subject to La Roux/ Sugababes/ David Guetta blasting for 45 minutes.

Here at Katy's was pleasant, painfree, cheap with good results! It's the first time I'd been to a nail salon like Katy's - minimal talking, sit and wait for a free technician, speedy but efficient service - so I didn't quite know the deal. There were a few awkward moments where I had to be told where to go, when to wait, what to do. But everyone was great at their job, and I was very happy with my £30 pedicure and manicure which has lasted me a full week without issues. Just make sure you go with cash! I had to run out mid way after spotting their "Cash Only" sign on the wall. Luckily there's a cash point a few doors down.

I walked out very happy with my new claws. I treated my aunt to a manicure before we jetted of to Guernsey for our family reunion and it was a great little girls day for the both of us. We chatted and got our hands pampered. I got a ballet pink and she opted for a more dark dusty rose. Both of us loved our nails afterwards.
