I had a very bad experience here. I have been to dry bar before and they do a great job, so was expecting the same here. Sadly that was not the case. I asked for my hair curled, showed several pictures, and walked out with straight hair. I could have done 10x better job than that, and I was stuck with my straight hair for the event as they also took more than double the time it said (over an hour). Don't waste your time. read more

Mayra did probably the absolute best blowout I've ever had in my LIFE. My hair is very very thick, loose waves/curls. Mayra didn't just handle my mane, she fully tamed it. I honestly don't think I've ever felt so confident after a hair styling appt. Vibe was very cute and clean and casual. Loved that it's inside of Nordstroms. I got two compliments on my way out!! I had an early morning blowout with Freddy and it was spectacular! I have thick curly hair and am always worried that my blowout will come out puffy or lose its shape (ptsd from blowout disasters lol). Freddy was unphased and very zen about the challenge, he worked quickly and gave me a flawless smooth blowout full of body. It looked like a million bucks for my 4 day conference and I never even had to touch it up! Am so completely impressed and look forward to booking more blowouts with Freddy soon! HORRIBLE!! Be prepared to wait 20+ minutes for stylists fresh out of beauty school with zero experience. They'll burn your hair or let you walk out with little bo peep curls, and be rude during the process. Also the most idiotic thing is that the ONE tiny bench you have to sit on is front of a frame so you can't even lean against it. TIP: go to blushington down the street instead. My daughter had made an appointment for a blow dry today at Drybar, Nordstrom's NYC at Columbus Circle. She was delayed at her bank, called them when 5 minutes late and was told that there was no problem and to come over. She arrived at Nordstrom's when she was 10 minutes late but couldn't find the salon when first getting to Nordstrom's (got conflicting directions from people at the store). When she finally arrived she was 15 minutes late. The person at the front desk - the same person she had spoken to on the phone - rudely told her she could not be seen. When she asked if someone would be available a bit later, again he rudely said "No".Alhtough she wasn't sure , she said it looked like they weren't even busy. Prior to her appointment, I was told by a friend who had gone there, that it was terrible - rudeness, poor quality of service. There are probably excellent Drybars in New York City. My advice is: Don't go to the Drybar at Nordstrom's Columbus Circle. read more

This is the best drybar I have ever been too! Not only is everyone so talented, but they are also so kind. I feel so safe coming here during COVID and everytime I come I am always greeted so warmly. I have very curly and thick hair and I get really nervous when I have new people blow dry my hair. The first time I came here I had just moved and everyone was so kind. I started seeing Clara and ever since I request her everytime. She is THE BEST!! Not only is she so talented but she always makes me feel beautiful and heard! I would have to agree with some of my fellow reviewers- the stylist I had seemed pretty inexperienced and had trouble with basic round brush blowout technique. My first experience at this location was good - the stylist could've been friendlier, but that's something I notice with Drybar stylists in general so my experience was in line with expectations. My second experience at this location with a different stylist fell far short of my expectations. First, there was water running down my back during the wash. Once I got up, I had to put a towel underneath my sweater. My stylist noticed and assured me the towel that had been around neck was wet but my sweater wasn't. Maybe it was hard to see, but my sweater was definitely wet down the back... to the extent I was uncomfortable sitting back in the styling chair afterwards. The stylist did attempt to fix this by blowing warm air down my back, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, she nearly burnt my scalp multiple times in the process of styling (you shouldn't hold the hot hair blast directly into the scalp for so long - it was painful, but perhaps my fault for not expressing my discomfort). The bigger problem I had was, she did not get what I wanted at all. This was definitely a first. I've generally been happy with Drybar styling. She offered me a different stylist once it was clear she couldn't get me the hair I wanted. The other stylist came over visibly annoyed from the start. She was really rough handling my hair, I felt she was using more force than was needed, as if she was tugging at my hair. This really upset me. After a few attempts to fix my hair which went nowhere, she asked to see a photo of what I had in mind. When I showed it to her, she insisted my hair looked exactly like the photo (it didn't), that every stylist has a different approach (which is fine, as long as it works) and that I wasn't communicating well (I've never had an issue prior to this experience - been generally happy leaving Drybar, definitely never had to ask for a do-over), their shop was busy and they couldn't spend any more time on me (honestly, I didn't want to waste any more time either). I was contemplating getting a Barfly membership, but after this experience I don't know if I want to return to Drybar at all. I understand miscommunications happen and how one's hair looks is a subjective matter. I was more upset and frustrated at how customer dissatisfaction was handled by the staff at this particular Drybar. read more

So I went to the Drybar Nordstrom today and the service was amazing! I had Tamika as my stylist and i got in 30 minutes earlier and she was able to take me in. I was offered something to drink and i informed her this is my first time here. Tamika was very gentle with my hair and I was happy she knew how to deal with my hair type. When i called and made the appointment I let them know i have kinky curly hair and need someone who knows how to deal with my hair. Tamika was the right person, she sectioned my hair and detangled it really well. She also took her time with my hair. She did not put too much heat in my hair and put a heat protectant. I honestly did not think it was possible for my hair to be straight but it is and i am happy! I now found someone whoo can straighten my hair and not so expensive. Thank you Tamika and Drybar! I've been to the Columbus Circle location twice. At the time I worked right across the street, so it was super convenient for me. Now that I work in Hudson Yards, I will still be going back to the CC location to see Ludy! She is amazing. I have naturally curly hair and it can take some time to straighten. I always ask for the same thing, a mix between southern comfort and cosmo-tai. She takes her time and my hair always comes out looking bomb. Definitely recommend her if you're a curly girl. I highly recommend this location. I come in often to see Giselle and Rose, Kelly three amazing high stylists. They both are very talented with such a wonderful customer service. All around, this location proves to be one of the best locations. I am always taken care of well from the front desk to the washing of my hair (they are always happy to ensure I have my two shampoos) and my stylists always leave me feel so pretty. I went to the Columbus Circle Drybar location to receive a blowout for my wedding day. The team did such a horrendously bad job that I went home, sobbed while I tried to fix the mess the team had done, showered, and blew out my own hair. This made me more than an hour late to my own wedding and almost ruined the day. When I emailed the Drybar team regarding the issue they rejected my request for a refund and were largely unapologetic. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY and certainly do not go to Drybar ahead of any event that matters to you. read more

Mel saved the day. I am 12 weeks postpartum and, in my exhaustion, accidentally booked a drystyle instead of an uptini. I arrived for my appointment on time but was taken to the styling chair 20 minutes late. I told the stylist I wanted a French twist, which he apparently didn't understand and made me pull up a photo of the updo. He told me there was no time for a French twist. I asked if there was ANY quick updo he could whip up for me, and I was told no, that I'd have to choose from the book of hair-down, curled styles. I arbitrarily chose one and was fully prepared to bust into tears when I got back to my hotel (I know, it's just a hairdo, but remember- I very recently had a baby. Hormones are wild.) Luckily when my stylist finished his work, the stylist next to us (Mel) asked what she could help with. I explained to her that all I wanted was an updo of ANY kind, and pointed out that if I had been taken back at my appointment time and not 20 minutes late, there probably would've been time to whip something together despite my fault in booking. Mel was an angel. She threw my hair in a fancy ponytail and called it a day. She really turned my frown upside down and I am SO grateful for her time and patience. Like many others here, also had a terrible appointment. Lisa didn't say a word and was so rough on my hair, my scalp is still hurting. She burned me and pulled the brush through so hard I had to hold on to the chair. The texture of my hair is awful. I look terrible. This is the worst blowout I've ever had. And the customer service acted as if he know they sucked, but thanks for also telling him that. I want my money back! I was really excited to try getting my hair done here. Nothing but disappointment. I was passed on 3 times to different stylists I asked for an old fashioned and was talked down to about it and how that's really only for special events even though that's the style I love wearing was not given that style in the end. The stylist who actually styled my hair wasn't very friendly was extremely rough and didn't give me the correct style within 10 minutes of leaving my hair had already completely fallen down no curl looks dull and I feel like I completely wasted almost 90 dollars. 10 out of 10 do not recommend going here if you actually want your hair to hold. You'd be better off with a good shampoo and a curling iron at home. read more

Possibly the worst blow out I've ever gotten. They stuck me with this man who did not know for the life of him how to use a blow dryer. I later found out he was in training. An hour into the appointment I had to call his manager to fix my hair. After many positive experiences I went recently and found myself with a male stylist who was abysmal. He soaked my shirt during a wash, burnt my neck with the blow dryer trying to dry my shirt, used so much product that my hair was sticky (and did not ask me if I wanted product to begin with), and took an hour to attempt to blow dry my hair so poorly I could have done it better myself. He clearly had no idea what he was doing, and was so rough with the brushes I had a headache for the balance of the day and was pulling broken hairs out of my head for days thereafter. Giselle the manager said I would have to wait 45 min bc I was late. No sense of being in a service industry. Just rude and abrasive. Will never go there again. Well..I have tried countless blow dry bars throughout Manhattan. I must say..my experience here was incredible! I have long/thick hair and am not easy to please. Giselle was AMAZING and gave me one of the best blow outs of my life. She was professional, super friendly & was able to create the exact look I was going for. She is a GEM & I am so happy with her work that I scheduled a weekly bLow out for the rest of the year! The location is fabulous. The store is incredibly clean, the staff is professional and friendly. Can't beat the price too! I genuinely enjoy coming here and always leave happy with gorgeous hair. What more could a girl want? Drybar Nordstrom has provided me with the best and most dependable blowout experiences since I moved to New York. The facility is very clean and the staff--from managers to stylists--are courteous and friendly. Kat and Kiera are great at blowing out and styling short hair (mine can be a challenge, but they meet it!) and they make a session an enjoyable experience. On the occasions I've had other stylists, they've been very good as well. Oh, yes, it's in a very convenient Midtown location near Columbus Circle--completing a series of wins! read more

This place is terrible. I had surgery and couldn't wash my own hair so I came here. Their phones don't work so I left a message asking someone to call me back. No one called me, I received an email instead. I don't know how they had my email but I booked an apt via email. I woke with a bad stomach from my pain pills from surgery and emailed asking to move my appointment a little later in the day and was sent a nasty email saying that I would have to pay a penalty fee to do that. Wtf? I wasn't canceling I was asking to move it later in the day. I ended up going. The water pressure was so bad my hair didn't feel like it was being washed properly and I didn't feel a shampoo lather either. The same person dried it and didn't put any product in it but when I asked if she did she said she put heat protection in it. I doubt it. I didn't see her use any. My hair looked dry and not styled. When I was in the Nordstrom lobby my head felt itchy and dandruff flakes fell. I don't normally have dandruff. When I ran my fingers through my hair I realized my scalp was still dirty from not being able to wash it because I had shoulder surgery and the person that washed it here left shampoo on my scalp and other areas of my scalp were still dirty and untouched by shampoo and water because it still felt greasy and unwashed. Tomorrow I will go to a real hair salon and get a wash and blow dry. The person who washed and dried it was nice but no phone, pathetic front desk staff that was useless and claimed to not be the ones that said the phones are broken and sent me nasty email saying I would have to pay a fine for moving my appointment time, bad water pressure. They did not respond when i tried to reach out for a refund. Awful service. This is NYC, go to a hair salon, any salon at random, do not go to this dry bar. I don't believe the positive reviews on here, they must be written by staff. Also looks like they buried the negative reviews which I think are the accurate ones. This location is a franchise and a barbie dream house and a water fountain have more water pressure than the hair wash sinks at this place. read more

This Drybar location is bright, clean and everyone has been very friendly. It is always a wonderful experience at this new location.
