We found that invoices were altered after the fact, with hidden or unexplained charges added. Moreover, after agreeing to work, we realized that the owner and staff did not obtain the required permits for some of the work, and the company acted like that is not an issue. The company has had good reviews, which we used to select them, but we now know that they are starting to go bad and are finding ways to take advantage of hardworking people. They talked about reviews all of the time, and we now know that they push people to write good reviews. Look more closely and beware because they will seduce you with smiles and tons of details on invoices. Make sure that they follow the rules, check everything, and verify that all required permits are properly filed before work begins. Be careful of the salespeople that they use to push you to take your money and break the law. This is not acceptable in our small town or even in our country.

I waited 2 summers before writing this review because the effectiveness of their work can really only be gauged over time. This week, we had torrential amounts of downpour that went on all night. Prior to the waterproofing, my basement would have had water seeping in from the block foundation walls, back basement door, and up through the cracks in my slab. I'm happy to report that my basement stayed completely dry. Since this job was done in April 2024, I've only had 1 instance of water. I immediately called Basement Flood Protector and, because their work has a 10-year warranty on the exterior and lifetime warranty on the interior, they came out and immediately remedied the situation. No water since. This was a big job that I did a ton of upfront research on and quoted 3 other big/well-known waterproofing companies. The reason I went with Basement Flood Protectors was: 1) Sales Process: John was my contact at Basement Flood Protector. He did not put on the big sales pitch and presentation I got from 2 of the other companies. He was straight shooting and was clearly the expert in waterproofing, not just a sales person. 2) Responsiveness: Basement Flood Protector answered all my follow-up questions and concerns whereas other companies seemed to dance around some questions. As an example, when asking one of the other big competitors the cost for an exterior dig, rather than saying it's not work they do (or want to do) the sales person verbally quoted me some unrealistic/high number. Another major company completely ghosted after I called/emailed 3+ times to try and speak to someone about moving forward with the job (feel like I dodged a bullet there). 3) The price: They were notably better-priced for the work I wanted done. I called them back due to a small leak that was just starting. The Leaky Professor and a crew of 4 workers came out the same day. They re-dug the foundation - resealled over 20 feet X 4 feet of foundation, set new drain tile and down spout catch basins and set up dimple board and all new fill, sand and stone. They informed me that it was part of their warrentee to repair a leak that returns.... It's amaizing to still be able to find honest companies that stand behind their service and warrantee. Workers were here for 3 days and even worked in the rain. They were neet, respectful, very knowledgable and empathetic to our needs.
