Agree with Kevin W.'s post about the rudeness. The line wasn't long, but the attitude was one of utter disdain. In fairness, we had a photocopied birth certificate which is not accepted and that part I understand. The part that is aggravating is the snarky, condescending attitude from behind the counter.
The negative attitude was obvious from the moment we entered. At first, there were two employees behind the counter. The first employee was a young man who seemed to have a pleasant disposition from afar and was wearing his official DMV shirt. The second was an older lady who did not smile nor seem the least bit interested in helping the couple of customers in front of us. She wore a plain blue blouse. The young man left for the back and we were stuck with her. The reason her attitude stood out is because we just left Scottrade where we had exceptional service from the young man at the front counter. He was responsive to a small amount of chit chat, but in contrast, Ms. DMV was unresponsive to any type of social interaction. Customer service does not require much effort, and even when customers are wrong, there is a way to enforce the rules effectively without being nasty. Be firm, but be helpful and try smiling. If you hate your job, every customer doesn't need to walk away feeling it. read more
