Not the largest library around, though the computers here can be used to access the collections of the Johnson City and the Bristol libraries, and books quickly delivered here, no charge, for you to check out. Also have DVDs and audio books. Friendly staff. They just added an aquarium with very large frogs in it. Pretty good selection of thrillers, including some surprises (excellent selection of Elmore Leonard) lots of classic novels, and local history. A library often visited by Appalachian trail through hikers, as Erwin is a well known trail town.

I took my grandson to two recent events and both were surprisingly wonderful! My grandson adores going to this library! Sampled one of their teas, Apricot Brandy, and it was amazing! My second visit was for a Japanese culture class. Another wonderful experience shared with many along with delicious tea. First floor is cozy with plenty of nooks to sit and be comfortable. I see patrons working, reading or crafting enjoying a drink or a pastry the establishment offers. You can also purchase loose leaf tea they serve as well as their branded merchandise along with local designers. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and I am looking forward to many more visits to the Philosopher's House.

I tried to donate a couple of hundred dollars worth of books to the library - most of them hard cover - all of them in excellent condition. After lugging the books into the library, I was informed that I could not donate books at the library (they would not accept them at the main library location). I had to call so-and-so and make arrangements to donate the books at another location. This was the last time I'll try to donate to the Kingsport Library.
