Terrible communication, cut my sons last lesson short and still had to pay $160. She forgot he had a lesson on another occasion. BEWARE of this company. Every one star review on this company is correct. All these comments happened to me and a friend of mine. The owner is abusive to say the least. I can't believe they are still in business. The driving instructor my teen had was just as bad. First, I paid for three two hour lessons but my teen only got maybe a total of three in a half hours. Completely unprofessional. The instructor sure did mess with kids head. She told my kid they she was a bad driver and was going to fail her test. She also told her, I was a bad driver and had a few negative things to say about me, She had my teen stop by the store fr her. She told my teen that she is a great teacher and she gets all kind of great reviews. That is funny, I do not see one great review on here. They gave her a certificate of completion even though she did not complete 6 hours behind the wheel. I will be sending her to a professional driving school where she will be taught with respect and given the time she deserves. My teen just got back from her driving lesson from a professional driving school and it went great. She was told she is doing great and was told some of the things she was taught was incorrect. I am so glad I am sending her to an other driving school. read more

Absolutely atrocious service! My son waited for months to get his DL appointment at the DMV, he had three lessons lined up with Driveraide.com. They did one lesson, and then cancelled his other two, and he missed his window to get his license. We now have to start over with another company. When I called to discuss options, the Driveraide.com representative was rude, talked over me the whole time, and ultimately hung up on me. Worst service I've ever received from any company. Totally let down. First appt the driver was 45min late .... not that big a deal. Second appt, they did not show. There was an appt set for Saturday at 10 and Sunday so that my son could get his license Monday- the driver never showed. We called the school and they said that we did not return the call??!! There was an appointment! I called the school, and the man was upset and ended up refusing to continue the lessons. Now we will miss the dmv appointment ! It was handled poorly. The man I spoke with was not willing to accept any accountability for failing to show up. On top of that - we will now need to pay for his entire class again ! He refused to even discuss it. Update: I was contacted the following day and was told that I'd be refunded the unused lessons, minus 1 hr for the driver because of the "missed lesson". Yes, the lesson that the driver did not show up for was our fault and he ( driver ) should not be penalized. The man did say he would not charge the fee ($50) for providing a letter stating that my son had completed 2 hrs of training from his first appointment. read more

I can't add to the already bad reviews. The instructor did ALL the things mentioned- lied, cancelled, was late, etc. On the last "lesson" so much went wrong but suffice it to say, my daughter was in tears. The instructor used the driving time to fill up gas (this was after rescheduling for 3.5 hours later 2 hours before the time and then showed up 15 minutes late). In addition to filling up gas, she was on the phone with her boss. Her boss is the owner and is abusive, disrespectful and a total jerk. I called to discuss the issues with him and he told me to get another F'ing company because he was going to pull my daughters lesson short- then hung up on me. DON'T- DO NOT- REPEAT- DO NOT use them. I can't even give this guy a star and I don't know where to start. Horrible experience!! I paid him $300 for three appointments. He scheduled all three appointments with me on the phone and my daughter went to her first appointment. It comes time for her next appointment with the instructor and they are telling us we never scheduled the other two appointments. He was rude to my daughter on the phone. And yelled at me on the phone. And couldn't even promise a refund to us. He needed a written statement from us as to why we didn't want his services. My daughter was 4 days away from her DMV driving appointment and there was nothing he could do for us. And to get a DMV driving appointment right now is months out. BEWARE!!! ZERO STARS. Spend a little extra and use anyone else. Any one else is better!! Please, please read the other negative reviews. The negative reviews are true. They cancelled 2 of my daughters drivers instruction courses 2 days before the driver's test. So we had to use someone else to get the remaining hours in before the test. (look at the other negative reviews to see the same) So we tried to get a refund from Driversaide. However, we paid the full amount in early March and they cancelled the late Aug appointments. We were told we would be getting a refund, so we were patient. We called in September to remind them, things got worse from there. We were told to call our credit card company to get the money back. Credit card will not dispute something over 6 months and they could not help us as we paid services, 3 lessons and got 1 lesson. Both me and my husband tried relaying this information to the Driversaide company and were literally YELLED at on numerous phone conversations by a very rude and disrespectful man (also see other reviews). And you don't ever talk to anyone else when you call. Just this guy. So all conversations end up the exact same. I also sent numerous emails, and a paypal request for the 2 lessons they owed us as a refund. Nothing. And out of the blue, one week ago same gentlemen called to let us know they were checking their refund requests and that they owed us for 2 lessons. He also said that because it was over a year they would need to provide a check for the 2 cancelled appointments. He asked me to call in a week to reminder the instructor to bring a check up to Ramona. When I called to remind him....back to square one. Almost like the conversation from a week ago never happened. He said the "owner" wasn't going to refund it, for this, that and the other reason. And I got yelled at again! On the phone, by a stranger that I paid money to, for a service that wasn't provided! The man is just rude and angry, it is impossible to keep your cool when talking to this man. I agree with other reviews. I am not sure how this company remains open. Driver aide is the worst company ever. They don't deserve any stars! They are disrespectful, don't return calls, cancel at the last minute repeatedly. They also are mostly there for the ride and the money, they don't teach you anything. They take no accountability for their unprofessional tactics. When confronted they will calls you names, scream at you and then hang up on you. Because we were running out of time and not willing to take anymore abuse, we were forced to hire another company at the last minute. So glad we did! Well worth the trip down the hill. Do yourself a favor and call "North County School of Driving". They squeezed us in the day before and the day of the DMV test. They are professional, patient, informative, and actually run through practice tests so your child is sure to pass. If you don't care for abuse and stress then don't call Driver aide! read more

ETA- the owner of the business got word of this review and called my ex-husband who paid for this training. The owner then called me at 7:49 pm and told me I shouldn't have had anything to do with talking to them yesterday because I was not his customer. . He then told me that my ex said he was completely happy with the services provided. My ex does not know anything about what happened yesterday. My child lives with me full time. He is not even aware of the phone conversation I had with the company nor anything that transpired yesterday except for my daughter telling him she could not take the test because of the windshield. The owner told me that actually my ex apologized for MY behavior. I feel that this is harassment by this company to be calling my ex (obviously the owner has MY phone number since he has called me twice) and then for him to call me to tell me that I am not his customer and also what my ex said about me is incorrigible. There is literally no excuse. I would love me to address the companies response to my review. First of all it does not matter who paid for the training. My daughter IS the client. I am her parent and the one who took her to her last appt of 3 and who took her to the test. Secondly, my complaint had NOTHING to do with my car. The complaint had to do with the treatment I received when I called to let them know to inform their instructor of what transpired at the dmv to help him and other customers. This is called deflection. The negative review was NOT about the instructor telling us the window was fine. The negative review was concerning the way I was treated and threatened during the phone conversation. I am their customer because they are the ones who trained MY child. I was also the one who had the instructor look at the crack. I was also the one who took her for hours to practice. Up and down the grade etc. I took her to 1 out of 3 appts. I signed the paperwork for her certicate of completion from the driving instructor. I took her to her test. Who paid does NOT matter. If this was an incident at a hospital, would I NOT be the customer just because my medical insurance paid the bill? The Lack of professionalism Is out of control with this owner and his employee. This company has managed to block all the other negative reviews. Please read the "not suggested" reviews. And also driveraide.coms responses on the owners page (Randy Yarbrough) to other complaints that apparently he got removed somehow. The owners response to 2 of them still are available on his review page. They read/sound much like the response I received today on my Yelp review from the owner of the company. I wish you could give a - star review .. instructor yelled at my daughter .. then screamed at me and screamed at my husband .. did not show up for appointments they said car was broke down .. then lied and told me that was not the case which he told me in a conversation. So this guy Randy that runs this company will not let you get a word in edgewise he contradicts himself on the phone also in the text messages that he sends he argued with my daughter and my wife. then I got on the phone with him and he wouldn't let me talk he did my family wrong and then he tried to tell us the new company we went to wasn't any good and that he's going to call the DMV investigator because we didn't finished with him then when we confront him with what actually did happen he says no I have people listening on speaker that heard it and will side with me and when I told him he has horrible yelp reviews he says I don't care I only have eight reviews this guy is trash read more

Wow!!! please do your homework they have one star for a reason very rude old man and could care less about anyone let alone your 16 year old kid just brags about having 6000 students under his belt( no desire to help) he should retire ! the only reason I tried these guys is that there is no longer a school in Ramona I know why they have 1 star my friend's daughter used them and told me that the cars are old and junk and the instructor was late etc the list goes on I just thought I could handle these issues because I live in Ramona my daughter is just getting her license and they come to Ramona so again do your homework and you will see its not worth the using these guys and better off using a quality school read more

This school VERY unprofessional! My child had 2 lessons left that were prepaid, they refused to give refund when requested after he said he wouldn't give last 2 lessons because he was over booked. The instructer had told us to call close to the behind- the- wheel test so that our child would have the lesson fresh in their mind, when I called to scheduled he complained that he never said that, and had 12,000 students in the area so there was no way he could fit us in. When we became upset, he got angry and hung up on us. We tried to call him back, he hung up again. We drove over to the office, he saw us coming and tried to lock up his business and up the "closed" sign!! My child hated this guy, says he's 'creepy" and chain smoked during the lesson. We called another school who was able to fit my child in at the last minute, but I will have to pay twice. Stay away from Driver aide! Horrible experience! read more

Horrible horrible business and customer service. All of the people involved in this are extremely rude. I had made 2 appointments for 10:00. When I make appointments I write down the date and time while I am on the phone with them to make sure I don't forget. I was then called at 9:03 today confirming my appointment at 9:30. I told them they wrote it down wrong because the appointment was in fact at 10:00! I live more than 45 minutes away from the office so I would not be able to go early. But instead of apologizing and trying to find middle ground they told me I was wrong. Horrible customer service, if I had not already prepaid I would be finding another driver instructor. Do not waste your time here. Also! The hours say 9:00-6:00 but I have called at 9:00 on the dot before and they told me to call back at 9:30 because they "weren't ready yet" so unbelievably unprofessional.! read more

I personally thought they did a good job teaching me especially since it was my first time out. Unlike what others say I the man who taught me did talk to me in a polite manner in which I did not expect since I did a terrible job. Looking at the other reviews people say they have had their appointment cancelled and that also happened to me. However, they did give me a reason, that being the man's birthday, and then thoroughly apologized about it. Driveraide.com has employees that are rude, talk over you and don't listen to feedback at all. I attempted to explain you ARE in fact allowed to wait in line to take the driver's written test at the DMV and the people on the phone (2 of them ... one at the 619 phone number, and the guy who actually provides the in-vehicle driving instruction in Ramona) and was told I was wrong. I explained I was "at" the DMV with the DMV employee standing in front of me and that I needed to pick up a certificate of completion from the online course in order to obtain the learner's permit. I asked if I could "pick it up today" so the DMV would provide the learner's permit to my daughters (twins). The guy at the 619 number informed me that it wouldn't work and that it was not allowed. He said it wouldn't do me any good to pick up the certificate today because they would turn me around at the DMV and I would not be allowed to take the written test for the learner's permit. I tried to explain again that I was actually standing at the DMV and this is what I was being told. I was trying to get a return ticket to the DMV and needed to make sure I could actually get the certificate the same day. The guy at Driveraide.com again told me I was wrong and had bad information, that I could not in fact get a written driver test at the DMV unless I made an appointment and that appointments were 6 to 8 weeks out. I said, "No, I am currently AT the DMV and this is the information the people who give the written test are telling me. I just need to know if I can get the certificate from your guy in Ramona today." He went on a tirade about how he knew what he was talking about and that I should learn to listen, and so on ... it took two phone calls (because he hung up on me when he said I wasn't listening-and I was told to go through another company ... but it was too late because my daughters had already completed the curriculum on their website. They would have had to start over.) and nearly 45 minutes of back-and-forth to get information on how, where and when I could meet someone to pick up the certificate that same day. I did finally pick up the certificate and returned to the DMV within 4 hours and my daughters were able to take the written test. I called back today in order to schedule two more behind the wheel tests with them in order to finish the licensing requirements. I thought it would be easier to stay with who we began. Wrong. This is the third time they've had to research payment receipts in order to find the information on my daughter(s). Shouldn't they have a simple database on who their students are and who has paid what already rather than going back through receipts to find out this information? The guy at the 760-788-1866 number answered this call and talked nearly non-stop without providing me the ability to respond or interject information regarding what was needed. When he brought up the DMV need for an appointment and made a reference back to the written test (I do understand you need an appointment for the behind-the-wheel test but this is not what I am referring to) I again attempted to let the company know that people do not need an appointment for the written test (at least not in the Poway location) and he interrupted me again, raising his voice and speaking faster/in an agitated manner, to refute what I was attempting to convey. My oldest daughter was "dinged" on her driving test at the DMV for information given to her from their driving instructor. Her instructor has told her (my twins stated they were both told the same thing as well) that when approaching a stop sign, they are supposed to stop far enough prior to reaching the limit line to actually see the line from a parked position. Then, they are supposed to "... move forward, past the limit line, look for traffic, then continue." The DMV tester told my daughter this is incorrect and was marked down for it. She was told she was stopping too soon because she was not in a position that she could observe the on-coming traffic. The limit line is something you are not supposed to cross without first stopping, but you are supposed to stop close enough to it that you can see the traffic ... according to what my 3 daughters have reported back to me, they were all taught incorrectly about this. I finally decided this company really is not worth my time and effort to work with. The employees (2 out of the 3 I am aware of) are incredibly rude, argumentative and overall unprofessional. read more
