I recently purchased a truck from Dealer One Auto Credit. The salesperson was kind and helpful, and…read moreI don't believe they were aware of any major issues with the vehicle. So let me be clear the customer service was great ( I don't want to mention any names involved because again the customer service was one of the best I've had with a dealership) However, shortly after purchase within 30 minutes a misfire developed which triggered a check engine light. The next morning I started the vehicle and that's when I knew I really got screwed. The vehicle rattled terribly from a cold start and then ticked really bad as well (the engine must've been warm before I test drove it). I knew going in that the truck needed new tires and front wheel hubs, which I was willing to handle, but beyond that, I wasn't aware of any other issues. None of the obvious repairs were negotiable during the sale, which should have been a red flag. On top of that, a $500 "documentation fee" was tacked on after the listed price, which felt like a punish the buyer fee, but this is 100% normal. Ultimately, I was left with over $7,500 in unexpected repairs due to hidden engine issues requiring extensive timing work, something I opted not to tackle myself. Here's the reality... There's no way that management even arguably the sales person didn't know about that awful rattle. That doesn't just start. Obviously they knew to make sure that engine had been started and warmed up/lubricated so it wouldn't rattle when a prospective buyer came by. I knew the truck was valued at about 15,900 KBB, but again it needed 2 new wheel hubs and 4 new tires with a list price of 15000 with fees on top oh and it didn't come with a FOB just a bare key, which is fine so that was 300 to get and get programmed. While I believe the salesperson was likely unaware, it's hard not to feel that management knew more than they let on. It's clear that vehicles here are acquired cheaply at auction, cosmetically cleaned, and flipped with little or no inspection. It is sold "as is", but selling a vehicle with dry-rotted tires and failing wheel hubs issues obvious on a basic test drive raises questions about the dealership's integrity especially at KBB value / excellent condition. Additionally a similar vehicle on the lot had major issues enough for me to instantly say absolutely not as soon as I turned the key over. In hindsight, I would have preferred full transparency. When I sold vehicles some what commercially, I disclosed major issues and sold at a fair price. Typically with a small profit just to get it off my hands. Had this truck been listed for $9-10K with its problems clearly stated, I would've felt fine about the purchase. Instead, I was overcharged and left with an avoidable financial burden that if listed fairly the 5k off KBB would've paid for "part" of the repairs and honestly would've been a solid price for the dealer, but still arguably a burden for the buyer, but again I'd still have taken that deal, but knowing that hell no I wouldn't have bought it for 15k+ / 22.5k after repairs for a vehicle valued at 15,900 in excellent condition via KBB. I won't be buying from Dealer One Auto Credit again and have advised others to steer clear. To Dealer One Auto Credit: I would advise against relying solely on the "sold as-is" disclaimer as a way to deflect responsibility in situations like this. It's legally valid for sure. Using "as-is" shouldn't be a substitute for transparency. If a vehicle has significant mechanical concerns, it's reasonable and fair to disclose them upfront.. This builds trust and shows integrity in your sales process. Otherwise, it gives the impression that issues are being concealed, only to be dismissed after the fact under the title "sold as is". Going to a customer's review whos stating a serious issue arose briefly after purchase is mere hours or days and saying "well we sell as is and that's disclosed" is like a band-aid on a GSW. Also, serious issues don't pop up an hour or a day later. They're hidden intentionally. A little honesty goes a long way. Clear disclosure of known or visible issues helps protect both your reputation and your customers.

I know others have their own experience, however, I thought my own might offer some value. From the phone call to drive away I counted on Megan F. to walk me through the purchase process. She did everything except the title work - performed by E.J. I was so impressed with Megan from our phone conversation to her jumping the car with a battery pack on a very blustery, windy, cold day. The dealership only had the vehicle on the lot four days prior to my first notice of it. I emailed on a weekend when the business was closed, but Megan called early Monday morning. She seemed genuine and I paid a $100.00 hold fee that would be applied to the purchase if it was completed. I live at a fair distance, so the risk was worth the danger that I might make the trip for no reason. It really was cold and Megan wasn't dressed for a polar expedition. The vehicle hadn't been driven very far or in a long time. The battery couldn't get it done and Megan reappeared with a battery pack. She hooked it up since it wasn't her first rodeo. I watched like an old man who didn't know cars had batteries. I would have paid just to watch her work. We did the usual walk around and test drive. Megan knew the function and control of the many German features and how to activate them. I'm a fan of German autos, but even the owners manual doesn't address all features. I enjoy puzzles. It's an illness. The windshield had a crack and I could barely mention it before Megan explained they had a repair scheduled and she regretted it wasn't already done. She told me it would be repaired at my home or a shop they used. I have serious trust issues, but I believed her. That's because she's a person who could probably could sell me holes in the sky. My confidence was rewarded, but I don't expect anyone to follow my lead. We all choose our own paths. Buying high mileage vehicles requires a lot of research and reasonable expectations. I can't emphasize that enough. Before I ever emailed Car Source OKC I knew exactly what I wanted and what I would need to do. I did not expect a "new" car. High rollers often have a lot of miles and years left in them as long as you're prepared for the necessary maintenance and likely some repairs. Be sure you have a genuine motorhead with you if you don't have the credentials yourself. I'm not talking about family member or friend, but someone who works as a mechanic or at least a service writer for the brand you're focused on. You can also use Chatbot GPT or other AI if you like. I've found Chat to be remarkably accurate and a real timesaver, but that's for research purposes, not a replacement for hands-on inspection. There are actually bonded inspectors for hire in some places at reasonable prices. I haven't looked locally. I've turned wrenches, traded cars, and enjoyed most all makes for many years while I've had fun with them. I'm old enough to be considered an idiot or a savant - you would have to check my spreadsheet for an opinion. I've been both taken and won the lottery in the car game - new and used. Every brand and model has good, better, bad models. This can occur even when the vehicle hasn't undergone significant updates between years. Manufacturers use tons of third party vendors and they don't all perform as designed. Take your chances if you're buying a known lemon model. That's your decision and no one can stop you. People who trade-in vehicles don't perform overdue maintenance or repairs when unloading their cars. I look for solid examples of what I'm shopping for - no rust, significant body damage, obvious high dollar repairs, or other red lights. This vehicle as a good example, I expected all fluids/filters to require changing, full tune-up, serpentine belt replacement, tires, brakes, some suspension repairs, possibly a battery, and more. These were all expectations from the get-go. I'm also concerned about the timing chain and tensioner. These are a known weakness with many vehicles and repair is better than a shelled out engine. It's a lot like visiting casinos and expecting to underwrite your new business venture. I would prefer to get a business loan and not depend on the favor of the gambling gods. Even if you do everything right, there's no guarantee. Every used car purchase is "as is" and "buyer beware". I would say with the right choice (see above) high rollers are in your favor of getting good transportation for a few years (five or more?) and many miles, IF, you do everything right. There's no warranty without risk even when you drive your new baby off the showroom floor. Just try getting a dealer to take a lemon back. I was very happy working with Megan and Car Source OKC. They acquire a lot of interesting vehicles that are in my lane and I expect to do business with them again. Just be real and know every choice is your own and to not blame the messenger or dealer.

As always, it was a pleasant experience I was done and out of there in less than 45 minutes . The application process is fast and easy approval. I love working with Frank. I originally was looking at a car at dealer one down the street from there. I got approved online. They called me and told me what my payments would be. And what my down payment would be. And I told him I was on my way. I purchased full coverage insurance for the vehicle paid $333 while I was in route. Only to get there and find out that they did didn't tell me the correct information I needed to bring. I sat there for two hours trying to get them everything they needed. And in the end, they wanted a double down payment of $4000. I was pissed. So I had my friend take me down the street to Frank. At Auto Solutions , where I knew I could definitely purchase a great vehicle. And of course he had the exact same car I wanted. Only better .. it was a platinum, a better color and way better shape with 10,000 less miles. Downpayment and payments were perfect. i know i will never go anywhere else again. I would highly recommend Auto Solutions . They've always been there when I've needed a car , and I'm in love with my beautiful Murano. thank you Frank !
