A must-see for The Third Man fans and history lovers in general. What I appreciate most about this museum is honesty. Film enthusiasts Gerhard Strassgschwandtner and Karin Höfler have put so much into the exhibits, and they do not sugarcoat Vienna's past into a saccharine lie and artificial celebration of imperialism and aristocracy. You can go to the palaces, the opera, and the condescending cafes to glorify a past riddled with tyranny, or you can visit these exhibits that tell it like it REALLY was. I especially loved the historical exhibits on pre- and post-war Vienna. The museum is sadly open only for 4 hours on Saturday, and you need every minute of those 4 hours to really get the most of the 2300 exhibits. Listen to the 420 cover versions of Karas' "Harry Lime Theme." See Karas' zither, Trevor Howard's original script, and cameras used on location in Vienna. They do a great job of providing background information on Graham Greene, Carol Reed, and all of the actors. People in Vienna did not receive the film very warmly, and I applaud Gerhard and Karin for reporting the truth. read more
