The Bestattungs Museum (Funeral Museum) of Vienna has settled nicely into its new digs in the Zentralfriedhof. This was such a smart move for this museum from its previous site in Wieden. Not only is attendance significantly up but visitors also come from more countries around the world as the Zentralfriedhof is such a popular tourist destination. This still remains a museum on the smaller side so an hour is probably sufficient to see its exhibits. You will learn a lot about Vienna and its famous association with death and the reverence of death. Indeed one cannot properly study Austrian History in the 19th Century without some knowledge of "Schöne Leiche" and it's impact on the Austrian outlook on life, death, and the world.
