Very cool bar in an unsuspecting location in Rome! They were just listed as #40 on World's best bars, and I have no doubts as to why. The service was so friendly, everyone greeted me with a smile and kind words. The bartender was so good, thoroughly explaining everything and had excellent recommendations for what to try. Their cocktail menu seems innovative but also classic and welcoming. I think there's something for everyone! I only tried their welcome snack as far as food, but even that was great. Their chips with a ketchup-link dipping sauce was so good. I just know the rest of their food has to also be amazing as well. Definitely check this place out if in Rome. I'd recommend making a reservation just to be safe, as I can't imagine this place not skyrocketing to fame and getting very busy! read more

Ok yes the drinks are good, but the food is excellent too. Everyone says the pork bao is good, and yes they definitely were. But don't sleep on the pastrami sandwich! My partner says it's the best thing he's eaten in Italy and we've been here for 2 weeks D: I would agree tho, it's pretty high up there. It was so good we ordered it twice lol. Everything we ordered was super tasty. I wasn't sure if the pork dumplings would work with mayo, but surprisingly it did. I also got the red prawn tartare dish which was fresh, sweet and light. Yums. Drinks wise, we had 5 drinks in total. My favorite was the gaijin which had a umami flavor profile. The shizuku and kong Island 2.0 were good too. The shizuku is on the sweeter side and the white cola on the Long Island cocktail definitely enhances the flavor. Yes, the cocktails are premade, but they are still good drinks! Our cocktails were absolutely delicious, but the rest of our experience could've been better. The staff did not say very much to welcome us, and spoke very quietly. I would've appreciated an introduction to the cocktail menu, which was very big and a bit complex. The food was OK. The yakitori had too much of a sticky sauce, including all over the end of the skewer you were supposed to hold onto. The pork bao were delicious! We also ordered spring rolls, but those came out about 15 minutes after the rest of our food (they had even taken away all our plates and cutlery by that time- we assumed they had forgotten). Very cool chic bar. Drinks are unique as is the menu. Service was great the bartender made suggestions and was kind. I realized towards the end this place is in the Worlds top 50 list. Materia- unique flavor with speciality coffee Kong Island- very easy drink Gaijin- comes in a unique cup cool ice with wording on it, to me it's like licorice. Mojo Raisin- kinda like a white wine but sweet it does taste like raisin Quetzal - this was truly refreshing, delicious and ended up tasting like guava. I liked this the best. I'm not usually one for lists but if I am in a certain city, and I know they have bars on the WB list, I will try to check them out. Drink Kong seemed fun and unique, so for Rome, this is where we decided to go. Walking in was easy. We were early for our reservation (by about 15 min) but they didn't have a problem with that. They let us choose either a booth/table or the bar. Obv, we are here to relax, so a table it was. The place is dark and swank with neon lighting. You wouldn't realize how big the place is until you go to the bathroom. Nice bathroom too btw. Service was great. I thought it was super attentive and even when it got very busy and we weren't being exclusively catered to, it was easy to flag someone down and have them help us. We were going to order some food, but they give you quite the large amount of snacks when you sit, so we didn't. We got chips and ketchup (so weird), olives and a hummus cone. The drinks are amazing. Batch made or mixed a la minute, I don't care. These drinks were spot on and I couldn't have asked for a better night out. The menu seems hard to read but it's actually quite easy. Unless you "want the experience of intuition," don't focus on the front. Turn to the back, where they describe the cocktails. When you see one you want, go to the corresponding number in the front of the book and see if the "sweetness, sour, bitter or Kong (complexity)" matches what you like in a cocktail. I won't minimize anyone's experience, I can only speak for my own (and those reviews are over 5 years old), but I didn't noticed any racial discrimination, especially among the staff, which had what I saw, three different races and people whose first language was not Italian. I did notice that if you didn't spend, they would spend less time on you. The table next to us was girls who were there almost as long as we were but only ordered 1 drink each and 1 bao bun order to share. By they time we were ordering our 3rd drink, they still had their first. I noticed the server went over to them less and eventually told them they were close to their 2 hour limit. We were there before them and I was waiting for someone to say it to me too but again, we were ordering drinks the whole time so... Also, the price thing. My best friend wanted to check this place out too but kept complaining about how expensive it is, so never came. Yes, relative to the cheap glasses of wine and simple cocktails you can get in Italy, it is expensive. However, these cocktail in Vegas would START at $20 each. I have no idea why this isn't rated 5/5 stars. Drink Kong not only serves cocktails, they serve an experience. Their menu is based on mood and flavor harmony. It varies between five taste preferences, each served in their own glass to compliment the experience. Their venue perfectly sets the tone for a cocktail with its dim lighting and neon accent especially around the restrooms. It's just a nearly perfect bar experience that I couldn't recommended more. However, we noticed that pretty much all of the house cocktails are pre mixed and some are even poured from a tap. They still taste wonderful, but it does make it seem almost like a cheat for the mixologists. You're paying for heavy research and pre mix, not mixing on the spot. read more

Our group ordered ten cocktails between us and two mocktails. We sampled all the cocktails we got and honestly all of them were amazing! I can see why this place made the top 50 bars in the world. The trendy vibe with the 80s arcade game theme is nailed perfectly, the drinks are fairly reasonable for a craft cocktail bar, and every cocktail we had was a dead-on winner. I'll admit I was rolling my eyes at first when I was looking through their menu and every drink had a graph diagramming out the different aspects of the drink (bitter, sweet, acid, and Kong), but it actually turned out to be really helpful and not just trendy BS. By looking at the individual ingredients in the back and consulting the graph in the front, we had a pretty good idea of what to expect from each drink, and the bartenders never missed the mark. I had the Prisma, Canova, and Symmetry while my wife had Hypothesis, Raggio, and Echo. We loved every single drink we ordered, and had a blast drinking in such a fun atmosphere. If you're hanging out anywhere near Monti, make the trip to Drink Kong. read more

BE CAREFUL of your personal belongings when you visit this place! We went there for a couple of drinks and someone stole our umbrella. The staff had asked us to deposit our umbrellas by the door and when we were about to leave, I noticed that my umbrella had been stolen. When I complained to the staff, they said that they were not responsible for the theft! I agree with the other reviewer that there is a trace of cultural and racial discrimination at this place. I would like to think of myself as a literate person, however, there was almost no way to decipher the hieroglyphics of the menu. They tell you the vibe of the drink without telling you the ingredients, which is poor form in my opinion. There were plenty of empty tables inside when we finally got in 30 minutes after putting our names down. Don't worry though, an A+ for effort in attempting (but not succeeding) in creating a prestigious allure for their ambiance. Beware of this place if you aren't Italian. As tourist me and a group of friends found this local bar and saw it as a possible place to grab something to drink. Upon arrival the bouncer standing at the door asked for our ages and proceeded to say that the local age for entry was between 27-28, my male friend was dressed with sneakers and jeans and spoke English. We then asked another worker who then said the age for entry was 25. Leading me to believe that we were not allowed entry as a results of racial, and cultural discrimination. After calling the bar the original person who answered the phone, proceeded to say the age was then 23. Once, we spoke to the manager who heavily apologized and allowed us entry. It's unbelievable to think that this cultural discrimination still appears in today's day and age. I refuse to ever return, tourist beware. read more
