This park is an enclosed park. They have 3 dog areas in case some dogs needed to be separated. They have dog obstacles and several benches. I wish they had more shady areas. I had my dog's birthday here and he had lots of fun with the dogs there and his furry friends as well. We came here on a Sunday afternoon as first time visitors. We usually go to the dog park on Stevenson in Fremont because there are a lot of dogs. There were only two dogs at Drigon so our pup Skye was disappointed. However the yard is a decent size of your dog just wants to chase a ball around. The grass must have died and been replaced by dirt in the center of the dog park. It seems that dog owners don't clean up after their dogs despite there being plenty of free doggy packs for poop pickup. The smell was a little overwhelming and some of it was due to whatever was in the trash. I know, I know, you're thinking in your head "yeah well it's a dog park and dogs poop," but it's somehow more rancid smelling than other dog parks. I do like that the dog park is surrounded by Eucalyptus trees which helps with the smell. There are plenty of hoops, tubes, and ladders for your dog to jump through or climb if your dog is interested in that kind of thing. There's also a shaded concrete area with a couple benches. All in all, I hope this dog park gets better utilized in the future. read more

Great Dog Park located in Union City! I've brought my dog here a few times now and it's been a pleasant experience each time. The park is fairly large and has plenty of room for the dogs to run around in. Also, there are some built in obstacle courses to give your dogs more of a mental challenge if they want to attempt it. The park has a couple of spaces prior to the main space where you can take your dog on and off leash. I like this as a safety precaution - in case your dog escapes the main section, it would still have to go through two more (locked) sections before it was able to truly break free, which minimizes the chances that your dog will run away. There are water fountains located throughout the park, as well as bags to pick up after your pups. So far, my experience with the owners here have been that they all have respectful dogs that they're able to control - no bad experiences with mean dogs yet, and hopefully it will stay that way. I live just two to three miles away from here and recently started coming a lot with my two pups. I have one 7 month old mix, and one 5 year old Yorkie. They both are small, so they go in the small dog area. The small dog area is...smaller than most parks I've been to, but they have nice grass that is typically reseeded every other year or so (so I've heard) so that's great. There's a lovely water fountain that is perfect for dogs of all heights--even my tiny yorkie can reach it! They have poop bags which is great--the fremont dog park (central park) doesn't have poop bags but instead have those crusty pooper scoopers. I have found most of the owners at this park to be conscientious of their dogs and how they act. A couple of owners in the big dog section (they all own german shepherds) think that their dogs are well behaved, but some will start fights. Just be attentive and don't be on your phone or there to talk/gossip but instead ensure that all pups are having a fun and safe time! Parking is right out front and there are a couple entrances to the parks. Nice shade in the big dog area, but not a lot of shade in the small dog area. Just one tree to provide shade so in the summer, people huddle over there and the dogs can overheat quickly. read more

Yesterday was the Taiwanese Dog Meet up for owners and doggies adopted from overseas due to overpopulation of street dogs are threats of them going to "meat factories" or getting abused. Adopt a Doggie in Castro Valley http://www.adoptadoggie.org coordinates these meet ups all over the Bay Area and i think this location is one of the best dog parks to host one...plenty of room for the pups to run around and reconnnect with their 4-legged peeps. Yesterday, was a beautiful day, plenty of dogs....1/2 from the adoption and other people from the neighborhood....so plenty of dog playing with agility courses, chasing other dogs, sniffing, peeing, marking and a walk path for the humans....my dog Silvie met her "doppleganger" and of all the dogs there, she gravitated to "Koa" the whole time....then found out he's a 'celebrity dog' (insert ohhh and ahhs here!), fostered by Jeff Clark (famous big-wave surfer, famous for surfing Mavericks!) and recently adopted by a nice lady named Meghan. I love this dog park! We've got an energetic new puppy (~10 months), and it's hard to get her enough exercise. We go to the big dog area and she runs with the big dogs, has a blast, and comes home tired enough not to chew up my shoes. The large grassy area is nice. The concrete benches offer shade for owners to watch their "kids" in relative comfort. The agility courses are sweet, and I love to watch the dogs run through it. Plenty of water and bags and places to put the poo. There are gates on either side, but if you're coming through one without the transition area, be careful not to let out the escape artists! This review is for the small dog park. It is, indeed, small! It's about 600sqft. There's a grassy area filled with awesome play equipment like hurdles to jump over and tubes to run through. Very fun for training! There's also a sandy area in the small park. There is a people-height water fountain and a doggy-height water fountain. Really cute! The big dog side of the park is WAY bigger. They also have the added bonus of ramps! Both sides have benches to sit on while your pups play. I thought the parks were really clean! Not a lot of stray poop. Yay! The important thing to note is both sides have grass and mud, so not the best idea after a rainy day. read more

Not all parks are alike, so I heard. This is our community park and we it. Primarily because the regular owners watch their dogs, play with yours and watch your pup if you need to step out for a few minutes; usually to smoke or a work call. We didn't have a good experience at this park. The small dog section was quite small and the grass was not well maintained. We also ran into a dog owner who was smoking marijuana in the small dog section and the group she arrived with was eating McDonalds right there. It was quite distracting for our dog. We moved over to the large dog section which is much larger and has quite a few benches for dog owners to sit on. But in this section we ran into a lot of dog poop that previous dog owners had left behind. We probably won't go back here. GUARANTEED GOOD TIME FOR POOCHIE! They ran and ran and ran! They rolled in the grass! They socialized with other dogs! They played follow the leader! They peed! They pooped! I didn't have to worry about losing them because it was all fenced up. There's a section for big dogs and a section for small dogs. This was a relief for me because I'm always fearful that a big dog will munched on my small dog (this has happened to me in the past, it's not a good experience)! Since I'm a responsible owner, I brought my own poopy bags. So, even though there is a dispenser with poopy bags, there will probably be days that it'll be empty. It happens, right?! Bring your own bag (byob)! If you have a small dog, you bet you'll find me here with mine on the weekends from now on. We usually have a good time at the park until today. This lady had an all white husky mix that she had a hard time with taking the leash off of because it was lunging towards our dog. When we were walking over so she could let her dog off the leash, she released her dog and it trampled and attacked our dog. She didn't even grab her dog off or move from her spot while our dog yelped multiple times as we ran and screamed for her dog to get off of our dog. She didn't even apologize or ask if our dog was okay when we got her own dog away from our dog. This park is still a great park (5 stars) but all dog owners should just be aware of this dog owner and car. read more

Well this dog park has gone down hill. Unfortunately, our dog passed away 2 1/2 years ago and we hadn't been back here in a while. As we just recently got a new dog, we decided to take him here. The dog obstacles haven't been fixed and some are held together with tape. The grass is dying, wife says it may be because of the leptospirosis signs they have. Poop is laying around everywhere. Just isn't what it used to be. Hopefully, they revitalize this place. It doesn't look like it would take much to do that, but in any case it appears to be going downhill without a little help. The great thing about this dog park is that it's enclosed and fenced off.. no need to worry about your dog running out on you and into the streets. There's a small and large dog area which is great since my little man Zeus gets pretty frightened when big dogs try to play with him. He goes crazy! One of the most amazing dog parks in the area and it caters to both people and dogs! The big and small park are separated by fences yet they're very much together. I love how the fencing has holes big enough for the dogs to stick their nose through and sniff each other! It's good that my little pup gets to interact with biggest dogs because he's a little dare devil. Loves to mess around with anything that's way bigger than himself! The park is super clean in itself and everybody who comes in and out take really good care of it. I appreciate how the patrons clean up after their dogs and everybody is like family here, though we're all strangers. There are water fountains throughout as well as bowls for the dogs to drink from. Both parks have an obstacle course and play structure so they can get their exercise on! There's baggies for picking up after your babies, please! Benches and shades are provided for doggy parents who come, so no worries. It's location has free street parking and away from the downtown, so less cars and just open space for your pets to enjoy. I used to not listen to dog owners when they told me not to take my dog to the dog park because there are untamed dogs there. I would always take my dog to the park because I wanted him to socialize, and he would always have a great time there and he loves all dogs. People would tell me they heard disturbing stories about Drigon and how dogs would get sent to the emergency room. I thought maybe they were rare occurrences since we would always have pleasant experiences there with owners and dogs alike. I used to take my dog early on weekend mornings and the crowd was always mellow. We decided to go on an afternoon and it was packed. There were a lot of bully breeds and a lot of mean, aggressive dogs that day. Before we stepped in, we heard someone shouting vulgarities, and then I saw a coworker of mine step out with her sweet dog. She told me a pack of dogs were bullying other dogs, etc. We decided to go in later and there were dogs mounting one another, dogs on leashes because they couldn't mingle with other dogs and dogs growling and barking all over the place. It was the most chaotic I've seen it. We left and went back many occasions after that. We had another incident where a husky kept snapping at our dog and our dog barked back, but we left before it escalated. We never see our dog bark at any other dog or show aggression. He is always the submissive pooch who gets along with all dogs and humans. My last visit was a few weeks ago and a dog kept growling at the fence at my dog. We weren't going to go in, but the owner kept reassuring us that his dog didn't "fight" or was just "talking trash." He asked if our dog was friendly and we of course said yes. He held his dog back and we let our dog in to play with the other dog. They were having a grand time. Once the other dog's owner let him go, he charged straight for my dog and attacked him. We quickly ran over and my partner broke it up. I finally heard my dog bark back at another dog because he was angry. When we took our dog to leave, the same dog charged at another dog. It was mayhem. We thought it was OK until I saw blood dripping from his ear. He was bitten twice.:-( Poor thing, must've been traumatized. He's so used to other dogs having similar temperaments as him, and just wanting to play. He was faced with a bully, demon dog. That was our last and final visit to the dog park...well Drigon at least. I loved that park and there's so much land for the dogs to play on. Too bad owners who don't train their dogs any better bring these vicious pets to go harm other dogs. It's just not fair. It's not the park, it's the visitors. (Warning: the dog is black and his name is Rocko. Keep your precious pooches away). We'll just stick to playdates. read more

Just an FYI...The dog park is going to be closed (effective Monday, July 21, 2014 until October 2014) for refurbishment. There is a sign posted suggesting using the enclosed area closest to Mission Blvd (usually reserved for non socialized dogs). This will probably prove to be an inconvenience to both the anti-social dog and the small dogs who like to frequent the park. Hopefully this project will go according to schedule. No matter what my personal feelings are about this park my furbaby seems to prefer this park over others in the tri-city area. I would give this park 3 stars but the extra star is on behalf of my furbabies vote, she loves it here. So I hope they are up and running again very soon. read more

I couldn't wait for my Bentley to get all his shots so I could socialize him more at the dog park. Drigon is located conveniently close enough off of Mission Blvd. so we don't have to travel too far. He's still pretty much a puppy and was super shy when we went. Many dogs and dog owners alike and they really know each other also! I felt like I had to join a club and learn everyone's names haha We've managed to come back one more time and it wasn't very busy and he didn't really have any nice pups to play with as well as some people managed to bring tons of kids that run around and almost get tripped by the small dogs and jump on all the equipment. Kind of gross now that I think of the way they were laying on everything. For now this park remains our number one choice. read more

Our English Bulldog, Marley, absolutely loves this park! As soon as my husband opens up the gate, he bomb rushes in and runs as fast as he can. The other dogs gather all over him and thus begins a joyous hour in the park. The park is divided into the big dog area and the small dog area. Marley and all seventy pounds of him belong in the big dog field. Both areas provide an obstacle course for the dogs to run through. Marley has never tried using any of the agility equipment because all he likes to do is run around with the other big dawgs. The park also provides plastic bags located throughout the park for the convenience of the dog owners (now if only they would use it!). There's a community water faucet which the dogs drink from. There's an area for the dog owners which seems adequate enough for me. I know this may sound ridiculous, but I am afraid of other people's dogs. I wish the shaded area for the humans was gated off because some dogs come up to you wanting to be petted. FYI: although Marley has been neutered, his sexual appetite remains at large so one might find him on occasion trying to hump another dog OR even your leg. We are pretty keen about catching him before he commits the act, but nonetheless it's better that you be forewarned. Another thing to keep in mind: as with any other park, this one too tends to get pretty muddy after a downpour. You might want to keep away until the park has completely dried off or just be prepared to clean off your dog's paws. This is a doggie park so don't expect it to smell like a bed of roses. It does smell like dog here and poopie, too. We hope to see you and you pooch at the park and remember...clean up after your dogs! read more

The bf and I decided to bring our pup here instead of the one we've been frequenting on Stevenson (Central Dog Park) since it was alot closer to where he lives. While the park is alot smaller in comparison, the grass is very well maintained and there are cute little obstacle courses for the dogs to play on (though our pup didn't seem that enthusiastic to jump through hoops and tunnels). There are separate fenced off areas for big and small dogs, though I saw many people mingling them in the big dog area. I appreciated the smaller lot size to better keep an eye on our pup without having to get up and follow her around. However, it seems like less owners bring their dogs here so there are fewer dogs to interact with. Love the facilities and the convenience here, but I enjoy the sense of community and relationships we've built over at Central Dog Park a bit more. For us, it's perfect to squeeze in a short trip to the park after work if we don't want to drive all the way to Stevenson. read more

This dog park is adorable. From Google maps, the walkway is in the shape of a bone! I have been taking my dog here frequently since I moved to the area over the summer. He loves the agility courses and large patch of grass to play frisbee in. I have noticed, however, that there is almost always that one d-bag dog with the indifferent d-bag owner who won't/doesn't know how to control his or her dog. Having my dog harassed on too many occasions by other dogs with irresponsible owners is enough to keep me away from this otherwise nice dog park. read more

Drigon Park is one of the best dog parks I've ever been to. The complex is fairly new with plenty of parking and it's in a nice neighborhood. Small dog owners will probably agree that the reserved area is undersized compared to the area for larger dogs. It probably gets a little hectic during the weekends and busy hours. Nevertheless, it's a great place to bring your dog for some exercise. As well as interaction with fellow owners and their pets. There's also a large variety of exercise equipment spread throughout the complex. It's also nice that there are water fountains just in case your pets are thirsty. Cliff note version: attention to detail is still missing as of October 2014. 19 Oct 2014: First or second day open after being closed for a long time (months?). Due to this note there is no time yet to have piles not picked up? And urine smell probably cleaned by maintenance during closure. No piles of poop found today, no strong urine smell on "all dog" side. But.....the two far, single gates in "all dog side" are *still* unlocked and easy for dogs to run out near busy Mission Blvd. when people come in. (They are probably utility gates and should never be left unlocked.). Main gate on all dog side is still not easy to open. Small dog side does not have a trash can yet main entrance has a trash can? Had a very nice day with the small dog side today. I still doubt I would come to this dog park. The attention to basic requirements (a gate that is super easy to know how to open) is just not there. Not sure why the place was closed for so long. ....... My prior review that I will leave until I can trust issues are fixed or no longer happening. Dog poop everywhere, and smelled VERY strong of urine. I do not think I have ever been to a dog park that had this much dog poop everywhere. I went to Drigon Dog Park today but was not impressed. Note. I have regularly used about 15 dog parks, and have visited about 6-7 others. In other words, I know what should happen at good dog parks. In 30 minutes at Drigon I found 6 big piles of dog poop (in other words, the owners of the dogs could not miss them) and the smell of urine was unmistakeable. Even if you missed your dog doing to the bathroom you can be relatively safe in thinking they DID "go" so just go and pick up another pile belonging to someone else's dog and call it good. (bring your own bags, though, as there were none in the bag holders) The "big dog section" dog owners have to watch four (4) separate gates that dogs can get out of, or people can steal dogs out of (yes, I have run into people trying to steal dogs in dog parks, have also run into a person whose dog was purposely poisoned). There should only be one entrance and exit for each dog park section that is DOUBLE GATED. There should be a wide, SINGLE gate for tractors that is LOCKED except when in use by caretaker/employees. What I guess (?) is the main gate for the big dog section requires so much work to open it that you think you can't/should not use it so you go through the small dog section which is uncool (can let the little guys out into the big dog section which should never be an option). There are places for bags up on poles (way up high out of reach of shorter people?) but they were all empty. No wonder I found 6 piles of dog poop in a very short time. Since Mondays are "maintenance" day and we went on Wednesday? That tells me they did not refill the dog bag dispensers this week. This dog park has potential (ie: has tall 5 foot fences which is a big plus, good parking on the street, has trash cans, has water, it even has lights til 10pm).....but three gates need locks (the two on the far side, and the second gate in the small dog section) -- and the latches need to be fixed so they actually do LOCK. Right now (12-28-2011) dogs can just push some gates open. The place could be good but *needs dog owners to take responsibility*. Pick up after your dog! no wonder signs stating that are huge and many - no other dog park I go to has signs to this magnitude and frequencies) and needs work from the establishment (wash all the concrete with, at minimum, a vinegar solution - and keep doing it til the smell is gone - and then refill the dog bags!). Good things? Right off Mission Blvd, has water, trash, and lights til 10 pm. Bad? The above and it has a very weird layout. (ie: the auxilary park is totally separate, can't figure out which gate is the one to go in, ect). Note. When a dog park first opens it looks really good, it is fun, and all that. Perhaps some of the great reviews were done when the park first opened. All dog parks need upkeep, and tweaking to keep it safe, and this one is no exception. read more

Very cute little play pen area for a dog park. There's two fenced off sections of the park, one for smaller dogs, and another for bigger dogs. The small dog area is a bit small, but it's also loaded with the same agility activities. It's a great place to bring your dogs. It's a little quieter than other dog parks I've been to, but I bet it could get pretty crowded during the weekends. They do supply doggy bags, so you can pick up after your pooch, which is a plus! The negative would be that there's no human bathrooms, so you gotta go before coming here if you plan to stay long! Parking is along the street. Overall, very nice area to bring your dogs! read more

When I got to this dog park, I thought it was pretty awesome. There are two pens, one for small and one for large dogs. The small dog pen was very small while the large dog pen had ample amounts of space. There were a bunch of obstacles set up for the dogs to play around on. In addition, there are benches/shaded area for the owners to sit around and talk. When my girlfriend and I got there, some of the regulars came up to strike up a conversation. It looked like most of the dog owners were nice and responsible; however, there were a few owners whose dogs were causing issues (it is quite evident). We saw an intact male dog that was acting a bit aggressive. He was marking his territory and growling at all the other dogs. He would chase them around and try to mount the female dogs. The owner would always break things up, but continued to let his dog roam around to stir up trouble. There was also another dog that was running around and bullying the other dogs. My pup is fairly docile and would just stand around when that dog would come up. The dog would try to jump on top of my dog gnaw her ears off. The owner had to restrain the dog several times but would allow him to continue to run around. The combination of these two dogs caused my pup to be quite scared. I have never seen the hairs on her back stand up before, but I got to see it today. Once these two dogs came in, the regular that I was talking to decided to leave. She told us that a lot of people stopped coming here as often because the newer dog owners were causing issues. She said there has been an increase in dogs that were not well trained and with owners that are unable to restrain their dogs. All in all, the park is awesome and there are really cool people here. On the other hand, there are a few owners that ruin the fun for others. I will try to come here more often at different hours to get a better feel for the crowd. Only advice would be to monitor the dogs in the pen to see which ones are acting aggressive. You can always go to the other side of the pen or leave. Eventually my girlfriend and I decided to bounce to avoid any more issues. read more

This place is a bit far from my place, but still a pretty decent place to bring your dog to socialize. There's two main areas for your dogs to roam free separated by size. The big area is a grassy area with a cement sidewalk that goes all the way around. Off to the side are agility obstacles (2 ramps, 3 hurdle bars, a tube, and 3 loops). Plenty of doggy poop bags for you to pick up after your dog. There are a few benches scattered throughout and a small shaded area with a few benches grouped in one spot. Minus one star because the grassy areas also has a lot of dirt which gets very muddy especially after it rains. read more

Even so, as dog owners if you see poops take the time to pick it up even if its now youw own dogs. This is a nice park, granted they could have made the small dog area bigger. But we need to take the time to take care of this park. One of our dogs had pooped stuck on her when she sat on the grassy area. We had poop all over the bottom of our shoes. Please be a responsible dog owners and pick up after your dogs. I understand sometimes we will not see them do their business then do the opposite and pick up poops that you see on the ground. read more

The park is nice, and close to my home, but it needs to be kept up better. There's lots of mud, areas with missing grass, and dead grass. I like how roomy the park is for my large breed dogs. The agility structures are nice and I love that there are clean up stations. As for the people that bring their dogs here, please don't bring your little dogs into the big dog enclosure. It's a safety concern. Just because your dog is comfortable around big dogs, doesn't mean other people's big dogs are comfortable around little dogs. It's irritating! Keep your small dogs in your designated small park! Also, CLEAN UP after your dogs! read more

This park is incredible! We go almost every day. Layout: There's a small dog and big dog area as well as a separate fenced area for dogs who misbehave or don't socialize too well. Bonus: Both the small and big dog areas have agility equipment including ramps, tire hoops, and adjustable hurdles. The equipment is extremely well maintained. People: So far everyone we've met seems like a responsible dog owner and there haven't been any fights or issues. read more

It is a nice little park if you are close to north fremont. They have small and large dogs area. If you come after sun set you won't find many dogs. They turn off the lights by 830pm and it gets really dark which Is a bit of bummer. Parking on street side and this seems busy street where you have to watch out while getting out and getting in your car! read more

We live about 1 minute drive to this lovely dog park and it's a great place for us to let our puppy loose to socialize with other doggies. They have two areas: one for small dogs and one for bigger dogs. Both sides has obstacle courses for the doggies to go through and play with. The downside is that it kinda smells because the dogs poop and pee everywhere! But what do you expect, they're dogs! read more

Yippee for grassy dog parks. I take my dog here often. It's the perfect place to bring dogs of all sizes. It has three different sections. -One is for the itsy bitsy ones, like my dog. -The middle one is for the gigantor beasts that could and squash my beast. -The last one is a fabulous secret that I don't want to tell. But, it's rarely inhabited and I think it's meant for training or maybe dogs who are unruly. But, because there are never other dogs in there, my dog loves to go there to spend time with me on those days she just prefers to have me to herself...ALONE. It's almost like her very own yard with no other dogs to bother her. We play fetch, she takes care of business, has the freedom of being off leash, I don't have to worry about a thing. Shhhh... don't tell anyone about this space. I want to keep it this way. On all the other days, we're all making new friends at the doggie park. read more

I've always been a fan of this place. When I lived out here I used to bring my pups. That time the other gated area wasn't there yet. But I'm glad they have that area. It's sorta the dirty area tho. The gate is less fancy, the benches are not kept well, some dog poops were not picked up. But no other dogs so I'm glad its there. My complain about this area is not the park but the dog owners. Then again, most dog parks attact many dog owners who know nothing about owning a dog. read more

I was hopping to find another dog park for my little guy. Thought this park would be a different. Super small section for the smaller dog. So not much running room. The grass look like it's hasn't been maintain. There's some dog poop bag for owner to pick up their dog poop but a scooper would be nice? There's two bench for owner to sit. As I was leaving, I did see another park without the obstacles and is much bigger. Maybe I went to the wrong side park.. regardless, the small dog with the obstacle is not for me. read more
