never again after the abuse our sweet maltese, rocky, suffered at the hands of your employees. blistering several places on his soft pink skin with a razor shaving mats (you are not a groomer) , causing him to have an apparent stroke/seizure so he never could keep his balance again ... i took care of him like a baby for six months, thanks to you. he walked in happy and perfectly well, ready to pick a usual toy from the box that day of his appointment and couldn't walk out. not once have you called with his routine test results for blood and fecal ... i have to believe you never did them ... nor to check on him. he is gone now, and i will never recommend your place to anyone else, and i will never set foot in there again. you should be ashamed, dr. grace. we trusted you. your staff not only abused rocky while laughing, you charged for routine work never done and charged for removing those mats, which that hateful woman was not trained to do. i have pictures of rocky and his blistered bare skin. we searched your business out when we first moved here and truly felt it was the best around ... until that one day when it became torture for our sweet boy. shame on you for not even caring enough to check back and see how he was doing, charging for tests obviously never done (you always called in the past) and charging. $50.00 for "shaving" ... not cutting out those simple mats ... which was not her place to do anyway. i can only pray that no other little creature has to be tortured at the hands of your staff. front desk clerks were holding rocky stretched out in mid air with nothing, not even a table under him. what were you thinking to let our precious little animal be treated like that. our hearts are forever broken since that day, and a sight that will be in my mind forever. if you love animals, like i thought you did, you will never let this happen again. you had a great staff in the past ... what happened? by not receiving a call from you since september, to check on rocky and give test results, i have to believe you were fully aware of the abuse he suffered that day and chose to let us go away quietly. we were advised to report your business, even bring a lawsuit in order to protect animals in the future, but we had to take care of our sweet boy ... making his new way of living as "normal" under the circumstances as we could. he was still our sweet rocky inside, and we gave him every minute of love and compassion until the day came we knew it was time to let him go. he was not, after the burns healed in physical pain, but with lack of balance, i had to hand feed him, we couldn't take our walks, and he wore doggie diapers. we would never have allowed him to be in pain just to satisfy out need and desire to have him with us. it just became like we were taking care of a handicapped child from the day we left your office, until we finally had to say goodbye. this was a nightmare that should never have happened. when you broke rocky, you broke a lot of hearts. alicia & gary miller driftwood was a wonderful place, until the day it became a nightmare. i pray, for the sake of other animals, that you take a closer look at the staff you have working for you. read more

Avoid at all costs. All support staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. When we asked for Instructions on how to give our pets medication we were told to the label which did not say anything. When I got to the point that I needed to remove my pets from this practice the woman on the phone told me that she didn't give a shit. Actually she told me she doesn't give a shit multiple times. They refuse to give me my pets medication. They can't even answer their phones or return calls. Horrible horrendous read more

I did a lot of research before bringing my fur baby kitty, Lola here after moving to Jacksonville. Dr.Grace and Jen not only were extremely knowledgeable but they also didn't try to upsell me extra shots and things my indoor kitty didn't need. They told me just what she needed and comforted me as I had her teeth cleaned. They even called me before they started which has never happened! They actually are very friendly and funny and we had some good laughs before I made the decision to have Lola's teeth cleaned but they made her feel comfortable as well as me. They say a dog knows a good human - my dog went right behind the counter and didn't want to come out. That says a LOT! We moved into the area when our dog Redford took a nose dive on the cement sidewalk, he whined for a while and since he was 15 1/2 yrs old we took our old guy to the vet. We looked up veterinary near me and found Driftwood which had 30 before they close. We took off quickly hoping they would take Redford in with no appointment. We made it with 5 min to spare. They were expecting another call in emergency and thought we were them until they saw my old Redford a knotted up Shitzu. They took him to the back and Dr. Grace Shook took him in right away. Grace also found he had a very bad heart murmur gave us meds and he got better but he was so old that a few weeks later he stopped eating his dementia got really bad that we had to put him down. We asked the doctor if we could drop off the meds, we didn't want to throw them Out they said sure. A few days later we got a beautiful bouquet of flowers with condolences from Dr. Grace and staff it was such a beautiful gesture that we cried. During our first visit to this vet we thought it was going to be great. Close by, nice and clean, friendly staff, and a vet who seemed to know a lot and advised us of food, medication, and it seemed that she thought very highly of her own recommendation's. Three months ago, we took our sweet dog in and he was diagnosed with ringworm, and then later he was diagnosed with fungus. The whole time our dog was being treated and medicated for these items and was not getting any better. He was losing all his hair, had scabs all over him, and then started to have really bad flaking skin. When my partner reached out to her on a Friday night, Dr. Shook was extremely rude to him and advised him that we were not following her instructions, and referred us to a dog dermatologist two hours away. Well we didn't go. We went to a new vet at the end of July, who diagnosed our dog with an allergy and NOT a fungus, and two week later HE LOOKS AMAZING. He is no longer suffering and miserable. Has not scabs, no flakey skin, and his hair is growing back. Dr. Shook thinks a lot of herself, and only her opinion matters, but the fact is my dog suffered under her care. If you use this vet, get a second opinion to protect your dogs heath and safety. read more

We are new to the area and decided to go with this Vet due to the reviews. I have two dogs that I have brought in. On our first visit I really liked the staff and we thought we had made a great choice. Upon leaving our first visit we were asked by the staff who we purchase the dogs medication from. I told them we use Chewy and we were told not to use them and that they sell "fake medication" and were given their online pharmacy information. That worried me, so the next time we ordered the dogs prescription through the Vet instead. I put an order in for Simparica Trio. The following day I was informed that this medication has caused lifetime seizures in many dogs. I then contacted the Vet directly and I was told that they could not switch the medication back to their old medication, even though it had not been sent out yet. Then I was told I could purchase it from them, after I had just spent $130 on medication that they refused to exchange so of course I did not want to after the customer service I had just received. I asked to have it filled through Chewy and was told we had to physically come to the office to pick up a prescription, which no other vet has ever required, and they refused to approve it over the phone. I was also told via email that Chewy was an "untrusted online source". It is obvious all this Dr. cares about is money and not your pet. I let the Dr. know how I felt about this and I was then told I can no longer bring my pets there. This Dr. does not care about your pet, she only cares about making money and this is very evident. The most caring and knowledgeable veterinarian and staff! My dog has several health problems she has struggled with her entire life and now that she is getting into her elderly years I'm thankful to have Dr. Grace tending to her care. My dog is also very anxious about vet visits and her first visit to Driftwood was the only vet visit in her adult life that she has not been shaking with anxiety. She made it through all of her exams and procedures and was still happy and calm and the end of the visit. The facilities are spotless and state of the art, and they are up to date on all the latest information in veterinary medicine from procedures and drugs, to dietary and hollistic options. Dr. Grace is ethical, intelligent and honest about treatment options and outcomes. I was able to discuss matters at length with her and not feel rushed out. She treated me and my pet as I believe she would her own. As long as I live in the area I'll never have a reason to search for another Veterinarian. Thank you for your care! read more
