They don't have an overwhelming draft or canned menu which to me is appreciated. I don't mind choices however when you have a craft beer menu that's deep it can be quite daunting. So to the Heckler crew, thank you for keeping it simple. This visit I had the Fried Pickles which if being honest were good but they're not the best I've had. If I could give a recommendation I would move away from the breading that's being used as I feel it takes away from the actual pickle which for me is about 90% of the taste profile. The breading was a bit overpowering. Sometimes simple is better. But that's just my opinion as a fried pickle enthusiast. Now as for the pizza, I have to give a solid high five. I've been here three times and everytime I've gotten a pizza and none have disappointed. This time around I got the meat lovers and it was fresh, and delicious. Overall, Heckler is a great place to go and one thing I do love about this place is that it's always a chill vibe, with great service.

So many great people they pay tribute to and that made me smile inside and out. Also, a sweet and cute service dog walks around waiting for you to drop food, so that helps! The restaurant did not serve bar food until 8pm, so I went with their chicken fried rice. I love that it was huge and stuffed with vegetables, chicken, and most importantly flavor! It was not too salty and just made you want to keep eating more and more. The bartender/waitress/greeter warned me that I would never be able to finish this and she promptly brought me a box. For the atmosphere, food, and drinks I definitely will be back. Great little spot to hit on the weekends for well priced drinks and to meet new friends.

As far as ambiance, it doesn't really get any points for style....nothing really says "hey we're a speed shop" like you'd see at Quaker Stake or other speed themed bars and restaurants. This was the second time I came to this establishment. Thie first time around was good, even if 3 of the beers I wanted to try weren't available. This trip had a mission: create a new dish utilizing two separate dishes. In this case the Loaded Tots (bacon, jalapeno, sour cream and chives with beer cheese sauce on top of crispy tater tots) AND Mac-n-Cheese bites (fried and served with a spicy aioli sauce). The plan, a successful one at that, was to utilize the toppings from the tots, to cover the mac bites (see picture for results). This creation not only caught the eye of the bartender, Branden (great service btw) who tried my concoction and loved it. But then that of the chef (Al?), who then saw the new dish and was like "now I know". Sadly this isn't a dish that can just be added to the menu. But if it could, oh boy, watch out!! There's also great specials throughout the week, like Wednesday is $2 Off any draft beer. Thursdays offer a discount to beer packs. Come for the food. Drink a few beers.
