This was my first experience with a float tank and this kind of therapy / sensory deprivation. It was recommended by someone who used to own a high end float tank and had quite a bit of experience in this area. I was really looking forward to it but it just didn't deliver. The facilities are really nice, the staff was friendly and professional, but the reason I'm not rating it well overall is because of the actual float experience. The temperature of the water was not what it was described to be- it was way colder and I was shivering for the last 20-30 minutes. Even with the earplugs, I heard noisy pipes and the water system doing its thing, music, doors opening and closing. There was too much ambient light creeping in through the pod lid. I just was not able to have that nice sensory-deprivation experience and float without a care in the world, and without sensory input. There was way too much input and the temp of the water was ridiculously low and it was overall hard to enjoy. read more

Always a lovely time at Drift. The team here is amazing, kind, friendly, and understanding. I have been enjoying floating here for years. The pods and in shower rooms are luxurious and easy to use. All of the information is helpful and understandable. They provide everything needed to have a great time. I have also enjoyed the sauna and electronic light therapy. They also have a lounge and oxygen bar available. Its relaxing to people watch on main. Pro tips and suggestions: I heavily encourage that you float at least 3 times before you decide if its for you. Second, get the cbd right before your float. Its expensive but adds another layer of relaxation. Last, do not start with the two hour option first. More is not better in this scenario. You can build up to it but its a long time initially. I highly recommend if you are needing time to process through either thoughts or emotional work. Floating here is consistently a joy. This was an amazing experience at drift float and spa. The staff was so helpful in scheduling the perfect day. Their list of services can be overwhelming, but the guy who answered the phone help find the best services and package for what my friend and I were looking for... which was pain management and relaxation. We ended up doing the drift away package for two which is a phenomenal deal. We start off with the light therapy which seemed very "new age" to me. It was surprisingly amazing and so relaxing. It was hard to believe the 30 minutes had passed because it seem like it was only 10 minutes. Next was there 45 minute infrared light Sauna. It was relaxing in and we got a nice wet. After the sauna was the float spa. Each person has their own tab and their own room. The float spa is filled with over 1000 pounds of Epsom salt. Be careful with the salt because if it gets in your nose or eyes it can be very discomforting. The lights change color in the bathtub, but I don't think we were told that it gets pitch black, so at one point when I open my eyes it was black and I concluded that it's probably supposed to be that way and, so I just drifted into my sleep. It was a very nice experience. You must take a shower before and after the float. This is a nice experience from the first phone call to the departure. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. I'm relatively new to the float experience. This was something I had heard about for years and wanted to try. I was surprised and excited that there was a little place in Greenville! I've had all three of my floats now, and while I'm still personally not sure if it's for me as a practice, I am sure that I will probably not come back, for reasons that will become clear. (Skip to "cons") but in the interest of fairness, I will list the pros and the cons: Pros: - Friendly, helpful staff, a lot of them have floated before and can offer helpful perspective and tips - Complimentary tea before or after your float / service, - Personalized name on the door of the suite with a fun moniker (mine was Joyful Jellyfish), - The suite is quiet, maybe soundproof? Not sure, - Can play your own music if you wish and request different lights, no lights etc. - Actual float pod is pretty nice, though I admittedly have limited experience. I liked that it was easy to open and close and had a gap to keep things from getting stuffy. - Fresh towel and washcloth, and there is body wash, shampoo, and conditioner available, including shampoo and conditioner for kinky / curly hair types, like mine (4c), so that was very nice. - complimentary ear plugs, comb, petroleum jelly (for cuts and the like), and makeup wipe The cons, including my personal death knell: - The floor of the shower is pretty slick, it's some kind of marble looking texture that, frankly, feels unsafe to be on. Some sort of non-slip material would be a better choice, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. And only one of the suites I've been in had a safety bar. I'm also not sure how often they clean those. - The towels provided, while clean, are pretty rough in texture. If you decide to go here I would definitely recommend bringing your own. - there is no separation of the floor for the spa and float pod. Both are on what appears to be a non-slip material of some kind, but it holds water and gets everywhere, and sometimes is left over for the next person :/ not a fan - The Death Knell: on my third and final float, while in the lobby, a person brought in their dog, used the bathroom, then checked in for a float appointment?? I'm deeply confused as to why dogs are allowed in a place like a spa, where people are getting intimate and hygienic treatments, let alone in the float suite itself?? And not only was the person allowed to do that, the person checking in behind them remarked that they were thinking they should have brought their dog as well, and the staff member just laughed. I was very disappointed to witness this, as Drift has a lot of things I genuinely like. However with the combination of the awkward setup and questionable hygiene, I don't think I'll be back. If an actual animal in a spa doesn't bother you, you'll be quite at home. read more

I enjoy the float spa experience and the facility is nice. Unfortunately, they seem to hire mostly inexperienced and poorly trained massage therapists. They are far overpriced for massage compared to nicer facilities in greenville. I have tried five different massage therapists there. Two out of the five gave a decent massage, but one of those was not professional and smelled like smoke. The other three gave mediocre to bad massages and I left feeling frustrated and like I needed to go home and give myself a better massage with tennis balls and a foam roller. I have received the same feedback from friends who have gotten massages there. Three of my friends have seen different massage therapists than the ones I've seen and said that they were the worst massages that they have ever received. I have received better massages from students at $15 an hour. They have a great sale every summer and I keep hoping that they will hire a good massage therapist so it'll be worth it. Unfortunately once again I have left feeling angry and like I wasted my time. read more

I found Drift in looking for local infrared sauna options. I had seen a sauna in Charlotte with slightly higher prices, so at a more modest price point, I walked in with zero expectations. And, WOW. Drift is a fabulous spa! The facility is extremely modern and luxurious, far nicer than I was expecting. I was blown away. I've only used the infrared sauna and the lounge here, and both are very nice. The sauna can be a challenge if you are heat-intolerant as I tend to be. When I mentioned this to Kelly, the owner, when I met her, she recommended I try different automatic programs, which run at various temperatures. I've done this and it helps a lot - I find it much more comfortable being below 140° than above it. Also included are cold water and cold, scented towels to use getting out of the sauna. These cool towels feel absolutely amazing on hot skin! I personally am using the sauna to try to treat hypothyroidism and low body temperature, which I'm assuming may take a while (if it works at all), and I don't really like heat, so I really had no expectations for immediate results. But, after my first session, I realized shortly afterward that the pain I've been having in my shoulder had basically evaporated. This made me want more! I immediately bought an unlimited package, good for 30 days and which is the same cost as 4 sessions. The price already seems fair, and this package makes the price point highly accessible. This has helped me with pain relief and also wound healing so far. And, using the spa is just a pleasure. There's a small parking lot right in front of the door, street parking very nearby, and a parking deck. The staff are all friendly and the bathrooms are outfitted luxuriously. I'm a little afraid of the float pods, but the rest of the experience is so nice, I feel I may have to try it. They offer a "newbie" float package of basically buy 2, get 1 free, saying you really need to do it 3 times to try it. I'd say the same for the sauna; I've definitely acclimated and am enjoying it more after a few sessions. Great local biz, highly recommend! read more

My wife and I have been interested in sensory deprivation for a few years, but haven't been able to get away to a town that has it available. We found out about Drift a few weeks ago and wanted to try it, since it's near our home in Greenville. Wow. We both had different experiences, and enjoyed our stay. Sixty minutes, each, for our first time. This place is clean, well organized and had attention to detail we did not expect. Now, I had a hard time relaxing, my fault not theirs, and I could hear doors or carts moving around, so not sound proof. But visually it was pitch black. I could not tell if my eyes were open, other than knowing to blink. I did have a "enlightened" moment. (I'm not the type of person to say such things, but I had a moment of clarity that everything in my life would be OK.) It was a great experience, they are open later than you would expect and we will be back. Try it, expect nothing, and enjoy the calming, soothing, and relaxation offered. read more

Let me start off by saying everything here could take you out of your comfort zone when you first read the services. I promise it is worth the adventure and you will not feel uncomfortable once you walk through the doors. You walk out a new person. Refreshed , Relaxed and Rejuvenated. The staff is friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable. It is unlike most spas and way ahead. My appointment was to "float". It looks scary but it's amazing. The float tank is all salt water (a lot of salt water) which gives you a natural float experience (and soft skin). You can close the dome and go into a total relaxed state or leave it open if you aren't comfortable. Try it closed. I came out feeling like I had 8 hrs sleep, and a full body massage. Aches and pains erased. I felt amazing. My daughter chose the Lucia light experience. She said she was skeptical at first but within minutes she was in a deep meditated state. She said afterwards she slept better and felt so alert but peaceful. She is definitely going back. I can't wait to go back to float and try the sauna. My boyfriend and I decided to try floating because we like new experiences. The staff was extremely professional and welcoming the entire time. They interacted with us minimally so we could relax but we knew they were always there in case we needed anything. The floating itself was pretty cool. Honestly, it's not my thing as I personally can't just "turn it all off" in my mind and I have tinnitus so I always hear something. But it was a unique experience and I'm glad I tried it. I will say I did feel relaxed afterwards. The facility is immaculate overall, and I enjoyed a nice shower in the oversized shower after my float. A great first float experience. I made appointments online for Z and I. Love a place that has online scheduling. There was plenty of information provided on the website and in the confirmation emails so we felt pretty comfortable going in. The day of, we were sent a text letting us know our spaces were ready a bit early, which was nice since we were a bit early arriving. We went in, were given a tour of the space so we knew where restrooms were. A rundown of the process was given to us and we were on our own to float. The space is very clean and inviting and has that wonderful "spa" smell - not sure how to describe but like very calming and clean. The float itself is a very personal experience. I think the best advice I read ahead of time is to go in not expecting anything. I do think it's true you need to go a few times to determine if floating is for you. We would definitely return to Drift. All around, it was a great experience. We'll be back! read more

If you are wanting to experience an out of body experience than you have a desire to experience some crazy realms. THIS IS NOT a good way to accomplish an out of body experience. The bath has a bunch of terrible things in it, and has done bad things to my body. If you want to experience an out of body experience I suggest looking up how to naturally. It's so easy to do it when you really know how. I really feel like the float bath made it harder for me to have those out of body experiences. Like it's harder to work with my other eye. read more

This place has changed my life. Before coming here, I struggled with a lot of ailments as I am a disabled veteran. I walked with a cane, suffered from severe PTSD and depression and had panic attacks constantly. I will admit I was a skeptic of this float/drift stuff, wasn't sure what it was. Is it for anxiety, is it for mind peace, is it for pain, is it for depression, is it simply for relaxation or is it for focusing on the inner self mind body connection? I am a retired United States Navy Deep Sea Diving Master Diver with 30 years of active service and 7 additional years diving with the Department of the Navy at the Marine Corp Air Station, Miramar Ca. prior to being medically retired. I have been floating, drifting and diving around oceans all over the world most of my life, how could this POD of salt water be any different than a night dive in a warm water ocean other than not breathing inside a helmet, wearing a hot water or wet suit or requiring decompression? I have had lower back surgery, cervical spine surgery, stomach surgery, severe head trauma while underwater replacing a propellor on a Fast Attack nuclear submarine. I now require bilateral shoulder replacements, right hip replacement and I receive artificial cartilage injections in my knees to name a few of my issues. Answer is I don't know what's different about this POD of salt water other than all the waters I've been in, ALTHOUGH IT IS DIFFERENT. When I drift it is the only hour of my life I am not in pain, I feel calm in the silence of the environment, my anxiety fades my many pains take a short vacation, it somehow reminds me of dives when you only hear your breath although the calm warmth of the water and silence takes me somewhere else. When I drift I simply smile as my mind searches for my bodies ever present pain and its nowhere to be found. The staff is always welcoming, the website appointment capability is fast and straight forward. Kelly, the owner, takes the time to talk with you and listen. If you are veteran and or anyone that suffers from any malady I may have mentioned in this short synopsis of my experience I encourage you to give this place a try. Today was my first experience at Drift. A good friend of mine is a regular client of theirs and is always raving about the infrared sauna experience that they offer. So today was the day that I decided to link up for girl time and make an appointment to tag along with her. The first thing that I enjoyed was the fact that the location is in an area heading into downtown.. so for me and where I travel from I didn't have to experiences going through actual downtown traffic. So that alone was a yay for me. The location is situated on the bottom floor of a luxury apartment building which has a restaurant, cafe, and small shop attached to it. So the area in my opinion is really quaint and communal feeling. Upon walking into Drift I was greeted with sincerity by the staff which included the owners mother (who was extremely nice)The atmosphere was that blissful feeling of what you would want a spa to feel like. Very relaxed with modern touches. Our sauna visit lasted 45 mins and was definitely not what I was expecting. Keep in mind this is my first time in a sauna to begin with let alone one that is high tech with music and multi lighting options. By the time our session was over and we initially walked out of the room I felt a sense of true relaxation! This spa is by appointment only and I will for sure be making another appointment to try out their other services. The float pod will be my next adventure! Apologies for lack of photos!! read more

First review of 2019 to the great Drift Spa. I've only done the IR sauna so can't comment on the float tanks - and that's pretty much it. However, I have to say in general this is one of the nicest spa facilities in Greenville - just beautiful. The design in all aspects is very cool and zen and a definite step up from many other local operations. From entering the front door you are immersed in a beautiful modern, high-ceilinged tranquil setting full of art, sweetness and light - just what I would expect from a true spa but around here people don't seem to make the effort. There is a delightful chill-out room type place where you can sit and relax after your treatments with tea, etc. The staff are as warm, welcoming and helpful as they can possibly be. Your reserved sauna room is identified by a personal ID message on the door. The sauna room is excellent and very well set up with a small seating area for 2. I've only done it as a couple with my wife and 2 folks can easily get in, get naked (or whatever). The sauna itself is well designed and again perfect for 2 with an L-shaped double internal bench and nice quality towels are there waiting for you. Inside, you have total control over the sauna via a wall mounted tablet on which you can select different programs as well as streaming audio and video entertainment with a great chill out Pandora channel as default. Also there is a roof vent that can be adjusted to moderate the temp and a separate lighting remote. I've found the IR sauna experience to be wonderful, relaxing and rejuvenating. There is plenty of evidence for direct benefit from this kind of exposure. I'm a biomedical research PhD and an abundance of direct evidence for near IR radiation on wound healing, cellular stimulation and other potential benefits. I can't claim to have any direct knowledge of this particular spa system and make your own judgments on that but it is certainly relaxing and makes for wonderful post-workout experience. There is a very nice well-appointed bathroom just across the hall and a water fountain to fill your bottle.There is also a small fridge in the sauna room with chilled water and towels for afterwards - very nice. The location is excellent and there is plenty of free parking directly outside in an internal courtyard of the building and part of the adjacent garage. I hope Drift continues to do well and can perhaps expand into other spa services. They certainly know what they are doing and could definitely create the premier spa destination in the area. If you are interested in their current services, I can certainly recommend the overall experience and the IR sauna in particular. read more

We've tried almost all that Drift has to offer (floating, infrared sauna, and Lucia light). While we enjoyed all of them, I didn't feel that I had noticeable long lasting effects. Unlike getting something like a massage, these services, while relaxing, didn't seem to do anything noticeable for me beyond that in the moment relaxation. It is possible that I just need to utilize the services more often, but that is out of my price range. read more

I absolutely love this place. Going in, I was a tad bit nervous, even after doing research on floating. I was a first time floater, but the staff was so nice and reassuring. They reassured me that I had complete control of my environment while in the pod: if I needed to get out of the pod, I could. Once I was in the pod, it was an amazing experience, almost like floating in space. It's the most relaxed I've been in years. The facility was beautiful, and had all the amenities you could ask for. In each of the floating rooms, there are huge showers, along with products like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, ear plugs, makeup remover wipes, and more. The lounge was great and very relaxing...I wanted to stay all day! While I didn't do the massage, sauna, or oxygen bar, I will definitely be back to try all of those.
