I came here on a recommendation of a friend. So far over 8 years. Plenty of strip mall parking. Easy to make appointments. I never had to wait for an appointment. We don't see a specific doctor since it's usually a wellness checkup. So far each doctor has been friendly toward my child so no complaints there. They have three waiting rooms: a) Sick kids b) healthy kids c) adolescents There are plenty of patient rooms which are roomy. There is a check in deck and check out area for privacy. The normal routine has an eye check so if you go to an eye doctor then ask them to pass as you/your insurance will be billed for it. On the way out the kids are given a sticker and a pretzel. You can get a print out of shots/stats when you're there. Otherwise I believe there is a charge which is normal these days. Once a year they hold a flu shot clinic which I love. It's on a Saturday and the office is close to regular patients. They only give out flu shots. They usually have a theme and the kids get prizes such as coloring books, snacks...etc. Will I be back? I been taking my daughter there going on 3 years ago. Things were rocky at first and then I met Dr.McCarthey. he is a great pediatrician just hard to book him for appts. So far, no complaints here. read more

I've been going to these Pediatricians my entire life. Everything was fine until I started experiencing back pain about 3 years ago and when I said that I believed it was a herniated disc my Pediatrician told me there was no way and then sent me home with absolutely no help. When i went back a year later with worse pain, another doctor refused to x-ray me or give me an MRI and blindly sent me to PT (which made it worse). After seeing an orthopedic and getting x-rays and an MRI, turns out I've had untreated scoliosis and two herniated discs in my back. The pain is the worst it's ever been and the Pediatrics just ignored my severe pain. read more

We switched to another practice after two instances where the doctor was rude, once on the phone and once in person. She apparently didn't appreciate me asking questions about my child's bloodwork results. We switched to CHOP, the doctors there are professional and do not have bad attitudes. read more

I have been going to this office for 20 years. I can always rely on great service and excellent care when it comes to all three kids. There is plenty of parking and space on the waiting room. There is a waiting room for sick kids, healthy kids and even a waiting room for teens. I've never had to wait for long periods of time. The rooms and bathrooms are always clean. I don't even live in Delaware County anymore and I still travel to have my kids seen here. They have a flu shot clinic one day in the fall which is very convenient and quick. You will be in and out in less than 10 minutes. I recommend this office to everyone!!! read more

We have had nothing but positive experiences at Drexel Hill Pediatrics. We love the on call nurses and doctors - always friendly and willing to help give advice when I'm worried about something at home, no matter the hour. They let you stay in the room and nurse after appointments if you need to, instead of rushing you out. We were even able to meet with a lactation consultant when we had some questions and she was so accommodating. We have chosen to see the same Doctor throughout my son's first year - Dr. Matt. He makes you feel welcome and heard. They are opening new offices this Spring so the facilities will get a face lift. We simply love this practice! read more

LOVE Dr. Matt!! Truthfully if we have to see any other doctor they all are great! Never have to wait weeks for an appointment like our old office and on sick visits they get us right in! They have Saturday sick visits and a flu shot clinic which makes everything easier. The women at the front desk are great. Ice noticed since they moved I haven't seen some of the old nurses which we loved (Nicole) but maybe that's just because we dont go those days. There is one who wasn't so friendly last Saturday morning but I'm going to write it off as she pulled the short end of the stick and was upset she had to work a Saturday shift. Matthew McCarthy is a racist and classist! He laughed in my face and jokingly had a good time at mine and my son's expense! As a doctor, I expected more from him and am ashamed at his behavior and plan to see that many people know how racist and classist he is! I needed an emergency medical cert filled out and faxed! When I spoke to the nurse earlier today she never mentioned a fee. Four hours later a nurse called me back and said there is a new $12 fee attached to filling out paperwork. This was NOT explained earlier so I spoke to Jill Veslynski the office manager who was just as rude. I went to the office to explain I just paid my son's college tuition and my finances were very difficult at the time! While there Matt McCarthy laughed and said in front of Jill that I should learn to " prioritize my finances" and while Jill was holding the PECO papers to avoid shut off (they just needed to be faxed) she and he REFUSED because I didn't have the $12 fee. I am upset that he laughed and joked in my face at the expense of my utilities being cut off. He's not fit to practice at Drexel Hill pediatrics where my three sons have been attending for over 15 years with no problems. This no bedside manner ignorant and classist doctor is not the right fit for a fine practice like DHPM. He needs to learn how to speak to parents and patients! A parent hearing what happened gave me $20 for my son's form to be faxed! I'm embarrassed, ashamed and feel humiliated that I had to go through such an ordeal! I pray DHPM makes Matt McCarthy take further courses on ethical and behavioral practices and he needs to apologize in writing and in person before I go further with my claim for racism and classism against him. read more

I chose this practice because my nurse practitioner recommended them. Dr. Sopas is a lactation consultant so I thought that would be a great asset to have while I learned to breast feed my newborn. I called the practice a month prior to my due date and they told me just to call when my son was born and arrange an appointment typically for 3 days post birth. My son was born on a Wednesday; I called the office and they told me to come in on Monday. The pediatrician and nurses at the hospital strongly encouraged me to make a Saturday appointment; they said it was important to try and document his low weight which would likely be that day. The office gave me THE HARDEST time about this b/c Saturday is for sick kids / acute care only. A). I think having a newborn is an ACUTE issue, I didn't exactly plan the birthday. B). When I called a month prior you told me the ideal time to come in was 3 days later, why should Wednesday babies not get ideal treatment? They eventually obliged as I said if they couldn't take me I would go else where. We went in for the appointment on Saturday. I was unable to see Dr. Sopas (which was understandable since it was a weekend appointment), and I found the doctor we did see to be rather cold. In fact she made me cry lecturing me about bringing my newborn in on a Saturday as that is when all the sick kids come in (I guess on Mondays only healthy kids come, right!?). She was not amazing, but we kept our original Monday appt to give Dr. Sopas a chance. Dr. Sopas was better, but not worth dealing with the practice. No one calls you back, the nursing staff is not friendly (even with the babies!) it was all very cold. Their nurses can't even hold your babies I guess as a liability issue? They wouldn't even go as far to adjust my baby's position on the scale. I also found the offices dirty. Obviously, I switched after two appointments and have been using Chop homecare network. Everyone in that office has been incredibly friendly, and even though I was stressed and not sleeping more so than ever before in my life, no one has managed to make me cry! ****edit 10/1/2014 nearly 15 months after this incident one of the doctors at the practice reached out to me. He seemed very sincere and listened to my issues and responded promptly. I am leaving my review because this is what actually happened to me, but it is worth noting that someone apologized for what happened and listened to my suggestions. Have been relying on this medical team for close to three decades. They are very down to earth, honest and care about the children. The newer lobby makeover is a nice touch, but at the end of the day the quality and breadth of experience of the docs is what keeps me coming back. read more

I have been going to DHPA for over 34 years. Overall I've been completely satisfied. Dr. Liz is the best. She's gentle, kind and knowledgeable. My girls absolutely love her! They are easy to contact and getting an appointment is fairly easy. read more

Looks nice but that means nothing. On multiple occasions my daughter and my wife's two sons have been misdiagnosed. Quick story my daughter at 5 months old was misdiagnosed and no meds given. My daughter became so ill I took her to CHOP and they took care of her. My wife's sons are never given any meds for their sickness lingers on. What's the point of going to this place if they don't give meds to recover? Wtf am I suppose to do with a recipe sheet for lemon tea? I absolutely LOVE this office. I went to this office as a child and then i started to bring my daughter here as well. Dr. Matt is so great with the kids and he's so sweet!!!! The pediatricians are great here but the biggest issue is when you need to talk to a pediatrician you get put on hold for at least 15 min before speaking to a receptionist and another 30-40 min before being able to speak to a doctor. read more

This practice does not care about their patients. They downplay everything. My daughter had a fever of 105 for over a week and they did nothing about it, nor acted like they cared at all. I took her to the ER and she ended up having strep throat. She had strep 3 times in a month and they did not care at all. They are only looking to make money off of doing nothing for you. Last three days she has had a temp again up to 105 and all they said was well i guess you could bring her in again but I don't know what we would do for you. Also, the nurse said she was going to talk to the doctor and call me back and never called back, this was 3pm yesterday.... Definitely switching practices. You are in business of helping children, it is sick that you do not even ACT like you care. Disgusting. read more

Love Dr. Soppas, although it's sometimes hard to get an appointment with her (I make ours as soon as they open scheduling for the month we need). I have found the staff very warm & helpful, particularly with insurance issues. Calling the office generally gets you put to voice mail unless your child is sick, but they always call back by 4 the same day. Online appointment requests make it a bit easier. read more

I can not wait to switch my daughter out of this practice. I call to make appointments and can't speak to a person, have to leave a message and be called back. My daughter needed a shot before she could start a medication that was monumental to her health and it took them several days to make the appointment. They are money hungry and fee based. The office manager is a nasty person with no customer service skills. There is always a very long wait to see a doctor and it is so incredibly HOT in the rooms it is disgusting. There is probably so much bacteria just growing in there. The office is run down and not kid friendly. So basically you get there, and you are in a play area. Then the MA's room you and you sit in a room with NOTHING for your child to do while it is 100 degrees in there. It's like going to hell. The doctors themselves are ok, but not out of the ordinary. There is a new CHOP primary care opening by my house and as soon as it does, I am so out of this crap hole. read more
