No reason to round up... I gave the young man a $5 bill for a $3.98 item. Him: "Do you want to round it up?" Me: "No." Him: "I don't have change." Me: "You only owe me a dollar." Him: "I don't have any dollars.. or change." Me: "Why?" Him: "I would have to go to the back and get some....." Me: "Why would you do this (to customers)?" Silence. More silence. The couple that owns it could not have been more friendly and hospitable. They were getting ready for a pop-up event that evening and had an even greater selection for that night. The staff informed us that this is the original location, so it's the smallest of the three in town, but there was so much to look at! I can't wait to check out the larger locations! All of the staff were incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. Everything was pretty well organized and not too overwhelming. There is definitely a lot inside, but in my opinion, you don't feel crowded and can easily look around for hours in here. All of the prices are wonderful as well! Everything is so affordable as well, and in great condition; some items are even brand new! Overflow beats Goodwill any day of the week! It's a relaxed environment and they give back to the community; win-win! Anything we need to donate will be donated here from now on :) Absolutely worth the visit!!

However there is also over priced junk that for some reason is never pulled from the shelves. Beware of items labeled "vintage" they are most likely overpriced. If you like it, you can buy it on eBay for the same price or less and even return it if you don't like it.

The Picker Knows is one of those places... Probably the premier, and my favorite, antique "mall" in the Des Moines metro! Rows and rows of vendor booth and cases. I'd hate to total the money up that I've spent here... And buying is great, but a lot of times I just have fun window shopping. Looking at the many different things here that I can't afford or have no business spending money on... Lol Very large display items, furniture, antiques, retro and vintage, some modern, a few clothes, comics, vinyls, Hot Wheels, some dusty and rusty things, handcrafted items, and tons of smalls! Prices are vendor driven. So some are high, some are at market, and there are great deals to be found here too. As a veteran I appreciate the veteran's only parking spot near the front door. At only 55 I pass it up a lot because there are veterans in A LOT worse shape than I am. But I have used it a couple of times. It's so easy to spend hours here! Vendors leave and new vendors fill their slots. And with the merchandise being vendor provided...the selection is ever changing! The staff is fantastic and always available for questions or to open a case! The bathrooms aren't terrible for this environment. They aren't perfect...pretty plain Jane...but they don't send you running for the hills. Lol The Picker Knows is a must stop in the Des Moines metro if you are into antiquing or thrifting!
