As an added bonus we were near the three country border of The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium (Kudos to us!!). Issues arose immediately upon arrival when after a long train ride the check in was a bit rude and abrupt. Meh chalk it up to a long day for the staff. Ask for a spa service guide in English and get a frown and a no sorry we don't. I could easily accept this if the hotel hadn't provided a beer menu and in room information in English. The most expensive thing I am going to have is a visit to the spa..c'mon..please? Found our way to the bar (as the lounge was closed..and never opened during our brief stay). Had a friendly bartender and a good selection of beers and a GREAT selection of scotches. The wait for a call from spa continued... We walked the lovely grounds and found our way to the spa to ask questions in person. Oh no we are booked all day tomorrow and closed Sunday sorry...so no spa visit (I agree short notice and slots fill up fast but still wife was NOT happy). Room was nice and large but the whole experience had left the two of us a tad grumpy. We decided to bail a day early and head back to Amsterdam. Figures breakfast was great and it was a sunny day for a train ride back north..

The restaurant is of great quality and the wine bar excellent. I would recommend this place to everyone who's looking for peace and quiet. The surroundings are good for walking and visiting the very nice German town Aachen.

great place. had a 3 room cottage, was awsome. in the forest saw lots of deer. lots to do there for…read morethe kids. do not pay for fishing there and do not bother to go fishing there. it totally sucks and there are only tiny stuff there. its a waste of time. the pool area was also great and they had a neat water slide. i recommend it if you got kids.

Rooms are just fine and the area is nice and quiet. I'm told the cigar smoking options in the bar are going to change soon. This was one of the last bastions of civilized indoor cigar smoking in Germany. drat. Make use of the spa-it's special. The drawback to this hotel is that the wi-fi is sketchy at best and not free. Perhaps the building is too solidly built for the wi-fi to travel but this really does need immediate attention if they wish to attract all kinds of travellers.

The proprieters, the wonderful Marc and Conny Krickel, offered to drive all the way to Amsterdam to pick me up (three hours one way). When a flight delay on my part made this impossible, they came to the train station and waited 30 minutes for my train. Comfort: Chic, modern yet comfortable and impeccably clean. Dining: Breakfast is a full breakfast with local breads, cheese, fruit, granola, yogurt and outstanding coffee. The owners are also really good cooks and our food was delicious and I am a picky 'foodie'. Our room was on the funky side but this is exactly the kind of place I prefer. It was so cozy and comfortable. We look forward to staying here again.
