As an added bonus we were near the three country border of The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium (Kudos to us!!). Issues arose immediately upon arrival when after a long train ride the check in was a bit rude and abrupt. Meh chalk it up to a long day for the staff. Ask for a spa service guide in English and get a frown and a no sorry we don't. I could easily accept this if the hotel hadn't provided a beer menu and in room information in English. The most expensive thing I am going to have is a visit to the spa..c'mon..please? Found our way to the bar (as the lounge was closed..and never opened during our brief stay). Had a friendly bartender and a good selection of beers and a GREAT selection of scotches. The wait for a call from spa continued... We walked the lovely grounds and found our way to the spa to ask questions in person. Oh no we are booked all day tomorrow and closed Sunday sorry...so no spa visit (I agree short notice and slots fill up fast but still wife was NOT happy). Room was nice and large but the whole experience had left the two of us a tad grumpy. We decided to bail a day early and head back to Amsterdam. Figures breakfast was great and it was a sunny day for a train ride back north..

Rooms are just fine and the area is nice and quiet. I'm told the cigar smoking options in the bar are going to change soon. This was one of the last bastions of civilized indoor cigar smoking in Germany. drat. Make use of the spa-it's special. The drawback to this hotel is that the wi-fi is sketchy at best and not free. Perhaps the building is too solidly built for the wi-fi to travel but this really does need immediate attention if they wish to attract all kinds of travellers.

The room was comparably small for a double bed, however the reservation was for a single occupant. Both the room and the toilet were clean. Warm water was available for bathing. The radiator once turned on increased the room temperature to a comfortable level. The window was freely openable to let fresh air in. The hotel respected my request to have a quiet room (not overlooking the main road) on a higher floor. Hotel staff were welcoming. The breakfast buffet was diverse and contained a good range of breads and diary products. Two espresso machines were available. I recommend this hotel for solo and couple travelers.

Always a bit quirky…read moreand fun, Ibis has a young feel to it and is simple and clean--just what's needed for a short 1 or 2 night stay (I'd even stay longer personally). Room sizes are small but you don't need much if visiting the city. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They were super accommodating and let us check in before the normal check in time (starts at 14.00 but we got there at noon). We were also able to park our car for that day and the day after for 9 eur (pretty cheap!) Location is also fantastic! Near to Europa Platz, this is the perfect hotel to stay at if you are visiting the Carolus Thermen Bad, only a 5-7 minute walk away. Also quite a quick walk to the center, about 15 minutes (there's also a well connected bus stop right in front of the hotel). Price is very reasonable, 40 per person, including breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, their breakfast buffet is small but has a large selection, including yogurt, bagels, breads, pastries, smoothies, fresh juices, cheeses, cold meats, cereals and a good warm beverage dispenser. I'll definitely return here again next time I want to go to Aachen!

The room was nice. It was a bedroom with a little living room. I wish we had it for more than one night. There was a lot of street noice and because it was so hot we had the windows open... but to be honest it didn't bother me and I fell asleep right away. My wife had trouble although butte had just arrived so her location clock and jet lag might have contributed. I had been here for two nithghts already. The desk person recommended good places for dinner and breakfast. next door and each was good. I wouldn't hesitate stay here again.

Aachen is home to the triangle of boarders which was really neat to see! The hotel staff is VERY friendly, and we absolutely loved the whole time we stayed! If you're military and have an esso cars, there's an esso gas station located about 3km up the road!

Unfortunately, my second time staying here had some bad impressions. I bit something like sand…read moreeating breakfast after the first night, then after 2nd night, I almost ate a tiny bug. I saw it crawling on my sesame bread. It's gray color & smaller than a sesame, kind like a silver bug book worm but smaller. still, it grossed me out & indicated poor food storage conditions as these are the hard shell rounded bread coated with sesame, which is usually purchased & stored by the hotel. I'll need to look for a new place to stay next time.
