Bad experience with one staff member that makes me not want to go back. Was over charged for my membership even though at that time the membership was on hold. Staff person accused me of not singing the right papers when I put my membership on hold. The club then charges my card for my membership when it was on hold. Then leaves the card for 6 months and tries to charge it again. Staff member then accuse me of making the mistake and says when I cancelled membership that we did this for you to be nice and this still could be your fault so we may still charge you. Just not a good experience and makes me sad about how I was treated.

Yes, it is supposed to be personal training in small groups, but really I watched the trainer (not the owner, it was one of her employees) just stand around and small talk with one of the other members and not even correct her form! I was a member for over a year and up until recently when I stopped going to this gym, I had enjoyed working with one of the trainers and fellow members. However, as Minnesota state laws relating to COVID-19 were not consistently practiced or enforced, it did not feel safe to continue. I witnessed the owners and members fail to wear a mask in the gym and/or while working out as well as members fail to wear masks covering both their nose and mouth. Let me be clear, this is NOT about lifting the mask to sip water. This was clear violation of the mandate to wear a mask over nose and mouth while working out. The owners and their trainers turned a blind eye despite multiple requests to follow the COVID-19 mandates. Aside from blatantly disregarding the law and everyone's physical safety, these recent events took an emotional toll on me as well. I have never felt less a part of the Tone 2 Day community than I did during this time. A member rolled her eyes at me in response to a request that she put on a mask while working out. I didn't get much, if any, support from the owner after this incident except to tell me she had a good online program. For these reasons, I highly recommend you look elsewhere to find a gym where more than your dollars are valued.

There's no unneeded glamor, no over-pumped-up trainers, this is real and this is practical. And it works. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is I would like to find a powerlifting contest trainer, and Powersource is more of a practical place. They train real people, all day every day, and that is good and they are very good at it, and the powerlifting trainer would kind of be overkill for them anyhow. I tried to call and get in touch with someone there to find a time to set up a meeting with a personal trainer. I was very excited and ready to start my powerlifting journey, and after seeing these positive reviews I thought this would be the place to do so. I called. Someone answered the phone, I didn't get his name, but he was chewing loudly in my ear the whole duration of the conversation. I asked for one of the owners/managing trainers and he said that no one was available. When I said I could call back later he told me "You don't need to." I hate to leave a bad review, especially considering it's my first review ever, but I'm quite fed up with not being taken seriously by gym owners, staff, and trainers. I have had my eye on this place for a while as I travel pretty often to the Minneapolis area and have been looking for a gym just like this. Minneapolis has so many Anytime Fitness and Planet Fitness, which are not bad establishments, just not a place that fits my workout personality (i.e. "lunk alarms", no real heavy lifting and dumbbells that stop at 50#). Southside definitely provides the atmosphere to focus on your strength and lifting goals. Loved the gritty atmosphere of "go in and get it done, no excuses". The main gym is awesome and has a ton of speciality bars, racks, DBs that go up to 150 and platforms specifically for oly lifting only plus other platforms for powerlifting. I came in around 3-4:30 and was one of the only there...so no issue whatsoever of having the run of the place. Honestly I wish that there was a place like this in Omaha. Will back for sure next time here.
