I called him and apologized and he agreed that my rude neighbor even wished me dead. He said he wasn't afraid of my neighbor and had an Idea and said he would come by the next day. I was surprised he would tell me he even wanted to deal with my fence painting. I was happy to hear him say he'd freak out to as I did stand my ground. John was super busy the next day and I said no rush at all. I'm just glad he understood because I had cement work as well. He assured me he was the man I could count on. I then tried probably 5 x by phone or text without a reply. If you didn't want to do anything John, you should NOT have gaslighted me man. That is not cool. He cannot be trusted. I saw he was reading my texts and never answered me again. I told him my last text that I was glad he wasn't sick or in an accident. Nothing is worse that being gaslighted. You may want to look it up if you don't understand the term sir. Buyer beware. Good day, Rich from Warrenville.

I had to contact him to try to get a quote. He called me on a Saturday night and then I never heard from him again for another week. He finally sent me a quote, which wasn't what I even wanted. Asked me to call him the next day. I called him the next day our call got disconnected and he texted me and told me he would call me when he got better service..three days later came, never heard from him until I gave him a bad review. Please don't use this business. It's been three weeks and they're very bad in communication.

The hardware for the gates was placed on backwards. Various cracked boards, exposed nails and bowing of boards. I was charged $700 for a mesh tarp that they referred to as a "sun sail", which was a brazen lie. I was told the tarp would be functional and easily removable. It was bolted down and not removable and provided zero sun protection. When I demanded it be removed and me refunded my money I was given the runaround. Once taken down I inspected this plastic Amazon tarp and found that they had removed the tags!!! SCAM. They did come out and replace the cracked boards and switch the hardware, and on another visit to address more complaints the owner himself came for a walkthrough and basically tried to gaslight me into asking if I had treated the fence yet saying that the wood was bowing because the fence needed to be treated- mind you it has only been four months since installation, and I was instructed to let the wood dry out. Coincidentally, I was already in the process and had stained a few boards with stain samples a few days prior to our walkthrough, which he saw with his own eyes. I am an educated homeowner and property manager. I know good work when I see it. The poor quality of wood and craftsmanship of the fence/pergola has nothing to do with the fence not being stained 16 weeks post install. Not one time did I ever receive an apology about the major mistakes, the setback and slope of the fence and the countless oversights and poor quality. The playing dumb routine rubbed me the wrong way as well as being blamed for being slow to stain the boards and told that no customer had ever complained about their TARPS or ever wanted to know the manufacturer and care instructions. Comb over your statement of work before proceeding with this company and make sure you have time to micromanage and babysit. Also, they go by various other names i.e., Chattel's Design, Aiken Pool and Aiken Fence. If you can speak Spanish that will also be a helpful because none of the guys working spoke English.

(Lengthy review incoming- but I'm elite for a reason!) We've had one of those years where all the…read morebig expense items happen- car accidents, ER visits, car problems, and eventually septic issues. We weren't aware when we purchased our house that it was on septic (happens with an as-is purchase) and found out after doing a good bit of landscaping. We decided to leave the tank be until something happened and sure enough a few months later after some heavy rain we found the original concrete tank had started collapsing in on itself forming a small sinkhole (aka toddler death trap in my toddler's favorite place to play). In a tizzy we called multiple septic companies to get an idea of how long it would last before the whole system failed and to get quotes on replacing the tank and drain field. Sandhills were some of the first to come out that same day to look at it. Other companies couldn't come by for another day or two. From the start I appreciated their quick response to help calm nerves when other companies weren't as rushed to help. I did end up getting quotes from 3-4 other main companies around and ultimately we went with Sandhills for a few reasons but the biggest one was they were the only ones who were willing to work around our wild garden situation and try their best not to kill things. The other companies were a lot less willing to work with us on that and also were very pushy about doing things "their way", which just didn't allow for much as far as saving our plants went. The quote we got from Sandhills was a little higher than the other companies but we chose them for their willingness to work around plants and their professionalism. They weren't able to fit us in for about 3 weeks, which stressed me out with a septic tank on the fritz and company visiting us and a toddler all while being pregnant, but thankfully the tank lasted and we didn't have to resort to another company. I do think they'd have done their best to move us up if the system totally failed but they are also busy so it just worked out in the end and I'm thankful for that. Rodney and Deshon were very nice and worked hard during the two days it took to replace the septic tank and redo all the drain field, and also demolish the old tank so it wouldn't be a sinkhole anymore. He even had his son out working (summer job I guess!) which sped things up. A few things were unexpected for them like a lot of groundwater filling the hole before placing the tank but my toddler and I were out there watching a lot of the work (excavators are pretty cool, and I'm a soil scientist who loves to see some redox features) and at no point did I hear any complaining about that delaying them or the heat or anything. I've worked manual labor jobs before and am prone to complaining about things like that so I noticed and appreciated that. They also didn't up the final cost due to those delays and I thought that was a possibility; given our year I'm thankful they didn't! Overall I can't recommend them enough and am very glad the stars aligned for us to hire them. Nearly all plants survived the chaos and I am finally not stressed out about our septic tank.
