First it started when I set up an appointment to see the venue and no one answered my calls or text messages. First red flag. Then I would send MULTIPLE messages and MULTIPLE calls and would not get answered. Then come to my event their fire alarm kept going off throughout the whole day keep in mind if they know about it then why didn't they come fix it the day or maybe a couple days prior to the event. I have a $500 refundable deposit for my event. Now in the contract it said to have the venue cleaned and take the trash out which is what we did. Then they text me about the back door not being able to shut and leaving ONE bag of ice in the freezer. Now be for real, fixing a door and leaving a bag of ice is not worth $500. We came to the agreement of them giving me my $250 back for the refund and then come to say 2 days later she decides to send me pictures of the restroom from "my so call event day" after we had already agreed on getting my deposit back. Now she tried to tell me if I deserved to get my deposit back when clearly in there contract it does not say I had to clean and scrub their bathrooms. I told them to give send me the pictures with the dates and she did not. Now I am not the only person who has gone through this and read everyone's review before mine. Save yourself a headache from them and your MONEY! Don't make the mistake we did and not listen to our friends when they told us that they were already known for never refunding anyone's deposits.! I still let them at least try to keep $250 but the full $500 for a door that just wasn't closing properly and leaving ONE trash can in the bathroom and a toilet that was not BROKEN IS NOT WORTH THEM KEEPING MY FULL $500

At $40 per ticket, I expected a decent experience. Unfortunately, the food quality was extremely disappointing and well below even basic banquet standards. We were greeted with room-temperature water (no ice) and bowls of wilted lettuce that had clearly been sitting out for too long. The main course included a plain, boiled chicken breast--completely unseasoned and stark white in appearance. The green beans tasted like they came straight from a can and were also unseasoned--no butter, garlic, or anything to improve their flavor. The only redeeming item was the lasagna, which was actually quite good and the only part of the meal I finished. I work in the restaurant industry, and I'm not someone who complains easily. But this meal was unacceptable. For an event honoring student-athletes and their families, more care and attention to quality should have been given. I wasn't expecting gourmet dining, but serving 700 guests such poorly prepared food sends a message: if they don't put in the effort for a high-profile banquet like this, I would seriously reconsider trusting them with a once-in-a-lifetime event like a wedding.

The decor can only be described as Vegas meets Rome. Kind of like a less fancy Caesars Palace vibe. The staff did a great job with the dinner service, but the food itself was not too great. Very bland and no seasoning at all. The bartender knows her stuff and makes a good, strong drink! Sound system was excellent and the AV seemed to run very smoothly for the event.

Baking macarons is a tricky thing and Damaris did such a good job breaking down all the steps. She gave us lots of tips and tricks for our home baking, and you can see her passion for what she does. That said, I have been to several of the cooking schools in Columbus and this was my least favorite overall attendee experience. It was more expensive, yet very "basic" for lack of a better word. All of the cooking classes I have attended come with some kind of amenities - a welcome cocktail, wine bar, cheese and crackers, hot coffee/tea, etc. Something. This class was three hours long and there was nothing offered but water and iced tea (on a 20 degree day). We also did not receive any kind of information prior to the class, so parking was like solving a mystery (hint: the parking lot is behind the house down a side alleyway)

So first off I want to say I am glad my husband purchased me this gift. In theory cooking with tea…read moresounded like the coolest thing ever and it was a very thoughtful gift, but the actual experience was a bit lackluster. The Seasoned Farmhouse is a beautiful space, but the cooking class was just okay. I unfortunately didn't learn any new skills and the main reason for this review being so low is because my husband and I got food poisoning at the event. I felt sick as soon as I ate the food and didn't feel better until 24 hours later. I have lots of thoughts on why this happened, that I will explain later. Class + Recipes: The recipes we tried were good. It was a class all about learning how to cook with tea. We made Shaoxing Wine Tea-Poached Chicken with Scallion Oil, Sweet Tea-Brined Roast Chicken, Salad Greens with Golden Raisin Vinaigrette, Tea-Poached Eggs, Black Tea Poppy Seed Muffins, Earl Grey Tea Cake with Chopped Chocolate and Tea-Infused Cream Cheese Frosting and Roasted Yukon Potato Wedges with Aioli Sauce. The food tasted good and I appreciated the amount of thought that Chef Cindy Ramsey put into creating them. However, I was severely disappointed with the set-up of the class. I've been to 6 cooking classes at other locations and always was assigned to a specific station where each participant would make each dish and learn new cooking skills. This class was set-up where we were given a 20 minute lecture and then told to wash our hands and disperse to focus on different aspects of the meal. For instance I mixed the aioli sauce, iced the cake and teared lettuce leaves. Though we were told to wash our hands, we didn't wear gloves and this is what I believe caused my husband and I to get sick. Cons: Lack of cleanliness. During the demonstrations sometimes the chef would touch raw ingredients like eggs and chicken and would then touch other ingredients that would not be cooked. This leads to cross contamination and should have been avoided on the chefs behalf. In addition, because 10 different people peeled eggs, and various people touched ingredient components that would not be cooked I believe this also may be the cause of getting sick. As a science nerd let me share that we all have a different skin microbiome. Sometimes people carry more of one bacteria on their skin than others. Also depending on the length and cleanliness of finger nails, this also could cause unwanted bacteria on food that was prepared without being cooked. If these bacteria get into the ingredients, some people can get ill from them. Net: PLEASE HAVE ALL PARTICIPANTS WEAR GLOVES WHEN PREPARING FOOD, ESPECIALLY ITEMS THAT WILL NOT BE COOKED. I feel like the price of the class was not cheap and hopefully could cover the cost of gloves in the future. Based on this experience, I would not come here again and do not recommend it to someone who is looking for a more traditional style cooking class.

Their storefront is great to see each item and how they go together. I also loved the recommendations Katarina was able to make. I never felt pressured to rent more or go outside of my budget either. Event Source fulfills some kind of strange, sick need within my soul…read more I'm one of those people who daydreams about setting tables. Weird but true! In Event Source, I can play with the table settings to my heart's content. Whenever I have cause to be in here, I literally look at the options and try to dream up events where I can employ my fantasies. Those are some pretty strong feelings about tablecloths, eh?! Tablecloths, napkins, flatware, china, serving pieces, chairs, tables, the list goes on and on. You'd be really surprised what you can rent for your event! And boy, do I. For our wedding, I liked the linens that came with the venue, but we punched up the tables by adding a different napkin and a table runner. For the more "VIP" tables we changed out the tablecloth and napkin, and added chargers. Doing the whole room would've been a little too spendy, but with Event Source, we could very effectively make our wedding look above-ordinary. I also used Event Source when I hosted Thanksgiving for 22 people at my house. I ordered all the china (I have some nice china, but man, who has 22 place settings?), which was super fun because of course I went with something I wouldn't have BOUGHT in that kind of quantity. Gold filigree for everyone! (Also, bread plates, gold handled flatware, gold rimmed water goblet and wine glass.) Napkins and tablecloths, too. A plate is, like, less than $2 to rent. Totally worth it. The best part -- didn't have to wash dishes! Yep, ES asks that you return them "dirty" (we rinsed at least). Same goes for linens. Just put 'em in the provided laundry bags. Do you know how long it would've taken me to launder and iron all those table linens?! It may have never gotten done. You can rent things in sets of 10 (some other items may have different quantities... Ask!). Think beyond the wedding. ES is a lifesaver (and a dreamscape) for other events as well! Customer service is top notch. Next time you're headed to ES, can I come?
