Deep Eddy Pool is an Austin institution! I spent many years at deep Eddie pool with family, friends…read moreand colleagues. It's nothing like swimming on a hot summer day. Your first impression of the pool will probably be wow it's large with so many lanes and many areas where you can just swim or float to your hearts content. Another impression might be and it was especially for me the bright blue water of the pool. It looks refreshing, cool, and inviting. Deep Eddiy pool has a oblong shape typical of large pools of its size. The pool has architecturally clean lines with precise corners. When you stand on the pool platform the vastness of the pool rushes to the forefront. Everytime I stick my foot in the water of the Deep Eddy pool, that cool refreshing feeling envelopes my body. Entry fees are very reasonable and can beas low as $2 per day. Paid parking is available in front of the pool and on the street. Nice relaxing self-care day...

Ok if you're desperate for some water…read more The water was crisp and cool even on a 99° day in August Half the pool is designated for swimming laps. There are no lounge chairs so bring a blanket for the ground and expect it to get dirty because people have to sit in the grass/dirt. There are a few trees for shade. No alcohol or food/drink allowed. I brought in my water bottle and no one said anything so I guess water is ok There is a parking lot but you must pay to park and it gets filled quickly Bike trails lead up to it Locker rooms are half indoor/half outdoor and rather dingy. Several lifeguards on duty. periodically they make everyone get out of the pool for 5 min (one an hour?) There needs to be someone skimming the pool throughout the day..there's a ton of bugs/leaves that get in the water. Also, since people lounge on the dirt lawn, everyone's feet are dirty when getting in the pool. The pool ropes had some sort of black sludge caked into them. It was pretty gross. $5 for an adult. Free for veterans.

I dont care for this pool at all…read more First of all the HOA has a really hard time keeping up with this place, it is always getting vandalized and the HOA is always have to put more money into the place all the time, its not even worth it when more than half of your HOA budget goes a pool that is only open about 4 months out of the year. Complete waste of money. Also, there is almost no shade around this place. The one shaded area is always dirty and actually pretty far away from the pool. Since this is more of a family pool, I wish they had triple the shade. Its like a giant tank of water in the middle of a hot field. Each year I try the keycard they give us and it is always wrong, then it takes weeks to get back to the HOA to get you a new card so you can actually use the pool like you should. This has happened every year to me. Keycard system is great, when it works and the lifeguards really enforce the rules, so when the key does not work, they stare at you through the gate saying, too bad. And the lifeguards are rude. They probably have to with a lot of crap, but they have always been rude to me and I dont know why we cant hire people that live in Austin, for some reason we hire people from the czech or something as an exchange program. I dont know why because the language barrier is an issue sometimes.

Barton Springs Pool I heard from movies, hippie vibes and just general word of mouth content over…read morethe years in regards to what is in the Austin area. So I wanted to make sure we made a stop here while we were in Austin as it seemed essential for having a good city experience here. Barton Springs is open every day but Thursdays so plan accordingly for that. I am told it's a day where they clean the pool. It took a little bit of navigating to get to the pool as we had to plan to come here on a hot day as opposed to a rainy day which we were encountering here on our trip but it worked out fine. We landed on a warm day and got pool time. And Barton Springs is perfect to come to on a hot day. The temperature is between 68-70 degrees which makes it great swimming all year round here. The bottom of the pool has plant life and it's not all concrete and polished at the bottom so be aware of that... it's definitely has a natural look. There are also signs not to touch the rocks at the bottom as it is the home to some rare amphibians I believe. But aside from that as long as you follow the signs you're good. The water is extremely refreshing and invigorating and even after leaving the pool and you are on your way you still feel for a while thise sensations which added more to the impressive experience we had here. Parking fees and entrance fees to the pool are reasonable. It's $5 if you are a resident and $9 if you aren't. I highly, highly recommend making a stop at Barton Springs if you are in Austin... it definitely helps complete the city experience here.

It's a pretty big park, offering several different landscapes and activities. Great for families and outings with friends. The city views were beautiful. The forest and springs had that cooling effect that made the hot sun bearable. The springs were cold but very refreshing once fully submerged. A little too cold for my water loving 2 yr old. He also didn't like the green algae but still enjoyed the experience. Warning: VERY SLIPPERY in the springs and uneven rocky trails in some areas. Have water shoes if you don't like to be barefoot. The bottom of the springs swimming section feels smooth; slippery with some uneven dips. We stayed on the approved 4ft or less side for my kid's life vest. Bring a float or rent a canoe to enjoy the deeper waters. Pro:There are several ADA ramps we could have used for the stroller. As 1st time visitors we took some risky chances trekking down rocky slopes and too many stairs that wasn't necessary. Find the ramps. Con: Multiple entrances and parking. We were almost defeated by the parking situation on a Saturday early afternoon (1pm). We drove around over an hour looking for a spot in the many parking lots closer to the swimming pool section. With so many entries and people barely leaving it was a constant flow of new cars swooping in forcing us into lot loops. So close to turning back, we kept following the water trail and figure there had to be another way to the water! Bingo we parked on the other side of swimming section and took the 12 min walk directly through the fields to the pool area. If you're like us you'll drive around the parking lots so much you'll learn the landscapes. Must pay for parking. We got a ticket after following the advice that there are no parking fees on the weekend. Don't listen just pay the hourly rate parking fees. Swimming Pool Fee: There is a minimum fee associated with entering the springs. Fees are tiered by age and residence. As non-residents we only paid $13 ($9 adult/$4 young kid). Veterans are free, no ticket, must show VA ID. Reasonable fees for the amenities, especially the life guards and bathrooms. Downloading the app is easier and faster than standing in line at the credit card kiosks. The teller windows are a little faster but, cash only, We were pleasantly excited to also take advantage of the playground and train ride. Super cute. 2 year old loved both. Highly recommended for visitors who like to explore, be in nature and community, and stay cool.

From day one, his attention to detail, communication, and craftsmanship were outstanding. Before we received the final contract, Nate spent months with us on the design, going back and forth on every detail and with extreme patience. He was able to provide accurate pricing on all the additions and changes. When we would ask for something he would explain WHY it can or cannot be done. Every step of the process was handled with professionalism and care, and it is clear he takes immense pride in his work. What stood out the most, though, was his character. He's honest, dependable, and truly cares about doing things the right way. In an industry where that isn't always guaranteed, working with someone who leads with integrity made the entire experience stress-free and genuinely enjoyable. Nate has a degree in civil engineering from A&M and is able to explain the physics of why we might not want to do something we think we want to do. We were wanting a special feature for the pool and Nate said we could do it as long as it was done a certain way. We pushed back and he gently provided the justification and engineering evidence to support his stance. We are so glad he talked us down from making a potential thousands of dollars mistake and he handled it with patience, care and understanding. He consistently went above and beyond, caught things we never would have noticed, and made sure everything was done to the highest standard. It was a total slam dunk from start to finish. If you're considering building a pool, I would recommend Athena Pools without hesitation. He didn't just build us a pool -- he created a space our family will enjoy for years to come. We're incredibly grateful for Nate and his entire team's work and would choose him again in a heartbeat.

This is totally my favorite city pool short of Deep Eddy and Barton Springs. I drop by here after work quite a bit for a swim, its only 3 dollars and never crowded. The lap lanes are almost always empty and the diving board is the shiznit. I'm baffled that there seems to be so few people here at all times given its location. Its near the ACC and Crockett campuses and you'd think it would be over ran with children. The real eye-catcher here is that the pool always seems to be extremely clean. City pools arent known for the cleanliness generally so color me impressed. There also tons of life guards so .. while I dont have children if I did I'd totally feel comfortable setting them loose on the pool while I read a book. Speaking of reading books I spend about half my time here laying on serape under a tree reading and its an amazing experience. The sounds of a few children playing in the park. The occasional splash of the pool as someone leaps from the diving board. I cant say enough good things about Garrison Pool and I'm sure if you check it out you will feel the same way.
