Although I was concerned that much of their work, though seemingly well done, was all very similar and somewhat generic (all gray and white), I know that's trendy now, and I figured I'd seek some reassurance that individual (and more creative) tastes could be accommodated. I spoke to the project manager who was responsive enough ... at first. He asked what I was looking for in a contractor and explained the process from design to installation. Everything sounded exactly like what we were looking for. And then ... I asked what the average cost for an en suite bath was. I had already done my research, which revealed that the average cost ranges from $18,000 to $25,000 (according to HomeAdvisor). Because of supply issues, I expected Slabaugh's answer to be a bit higher, but I certainly did not expect the project manager to quote a cost double that! He told me that I could expect to pay just under $60,000! I should also note that this estimate was provided without actually seeing the space. When I expressed surprise by this number, I was NOT provided with any explanation. I wasn't told that supply chain issues had increased the cost by 100% or that they used only top tier materials. There was no explanation about paying subcontractors or difficulty in finding qualified workers. Instead, I could almost hear the shrug over the phone as the project manager said, "Maybe we're not the right fit for you," a comment I found dismissive and condescending." Even so, I suggested that maybe my husband and I could stop by the showroom. I was thinking that perhaps I could get a more satisfactory explanation in person. That's when I found out that's it's only open four days a week until 5 and not at all on weekends. As someone who has a job, I explained that those times didn't work with my schedule. "People work," I said. "What do they do?" He silently shrugged again. "They take the time off." So, if you're looking to spend $20,000 more than you have to, if you want want to be dismissed and condescended to, if you want to adjust your schedule to the company you're hiring, then this might be the company for you. I, on the other hand, found a much more pleasant company with which to work, whose quote (after seeing the space) has come in at between $30,000 and $40,000. I thought it was the company calling me so I called them. The girl that answered the company phone said, no I have the wrong number. When I explained she then said oh yes, we are to busy to deal with you, that must have been a recruiter. I'll see if I can get her to call you. I also sent an e mail to the recruiter. 10 minutes later she calls. 15 minutes late. 2. She then starts asking me questions that are on my resume. I asked, do you have my resume? she said yes, so I said, did you even look at it. Duh. I doubt she did. Again more questions already answered on resume. 3. Since I started my own deck business and did it all, sales and the construction, for over 40 years, it seems to me it should be clear I can sell decks. 4. It seemed to me she was searching to think of questions to ask me. Then asking questions about something I had just explained. Or asking the same questions in a different way. 5. She asked about my tech skills and I explained I had been building websites since 1999 so I would say 10 out of 10. 6. She then asked if can I design and build excel spreadsheets from scratch. Why would a deck salesman with over 40 years experience need to do that. 7. A few more stupid questions led me to say, "You know what, based on my experience with you I no longer am interested in Klassic anything. Probably dogged a bullet. What is funny, they claim they been in business since 1996, thousands of decks, yet I never heard of them. The Cleveland BBB says they have NO REVIEWS. So I looked them up on the Ohio Business website. Their first company name was Custom Decks Inc. Why change names? Changed the name in 2013. What I can say is that I contacted them on Thursday May 29. Had to call again next day due to no contact. Nate came out on Friday May 30. Went through the whole ordeal of measuring out the deck and laying it out on graph paper. Said he might have a quote to me by email that night, but more likely Monday June 3rd. Called back on Wednesday June 5th to say I had net yet received a quote via email. Later Nate texted me to say that at this point in the season they are too busy to take on a deck that big. Why didnt he just say that when he came out instead of wasting my time and his for that matter. My guess is they were not interested in doing a wood deck. Not everyone wants plastic decks. Communication is not that great. Leaving people waiting is VERY, VERY DISRESPECTFUL and not a sign of a good business person.

The warranty is life of the home, 100% covered at no additional cost. A little less than 2 years later I started seeing new cracks forming, some in new places and some where the carbon fiber was installed. I only noticed because I was having additional work done to the home so I was taking the time to look over things. I had the foundation inspected by 3 other companies who all said the carbon fiber strips were installed incorrectly. I did a national search for carbon fiber installation and Premier was the only one I could find that installed them by gluing them into place instead of bolting the top to the sill plate and the bottom to the footer. I called Premier and Chris answered the phone and came out the next day to look at the issues. Our interaction was good! We chatted about the house, he noticed our improvements, we complemented each other's beards, all was good! I showed him the trouble areas and he said that the new areas are out of their range of work because no strips were put on those walls and that wouldn't be covered. I kind of felt like that was a loop-hole out of a warranty but fine. I asked about the installation and he assured me that it is indeed correct and another local company does it the same way. I said OK and we moved on. He did offer a solution of installing an anchor at no charge and would periodically stop by to tighten it. I said we would think about it and give him a call. Here is where the review drops. About 20 minutes after Chris left, his boss and owner Ed calls yelling at me. Absolutely bitching that I had the nerve to complain. That I was questioning their work and every other company but his was "scum". He was incredibly rude, constantly interrupted and talked over me. Then said he was going to fire Chris because it's now his fault. I strongly voiced my opinion against those actions, I would not want anyone to loose their job, especially without warrant. After arguing with him he decided he would come out and inspect. He'll be here in 2 days. I'll update this post when he does. Right now I would stay away from this company, the owner clearly has issues if he is going to yell at customers with concerns. UPDATE: Ed came out and immediately put the blame on the way the house was built. Bragged about how he's been a Mason for many years, he is an absolute professional and my house was built wrong. (The house was built in 1958). I showed him the cracks and his response was "that's normal, that's not significant enough", I said it's been less than 2 years that this was installed and he said "soil moves so the walls will continue to shift". Which means your carbon fiber is installed incorrectly, unto he went off on another tangent. His solution was to cut out several blocks in the wall install rebar and repour the wall with a wall anchor in place. My wife was upstairs and started recording when she heard things getting loud and heated between us. I'll post the video if that's an option. He said he's never had a single complaint, that I'm his 1st customer to have any concerns. That's obviously not true. Not trying to add anymore fuel to the fire, but his eyes were bloodshot and he stated several times he had "cotton mouth". I suspect Marijuana, and while it is indeed legal here and maybe he uses it for his obvious anger issues, that is completely unprofessional. I'm not against the plant, but to show up at a paying customers house like that is not acceptable. He's lost my business and hopefully people read this before he steals your money too.
