I was not impressed with Steve's services. I would not recommend paying him in the beginning of the wedding day. As soon as I paid him his money, he left early and did not fulfill his commitment. Steve was very unprofessional. He was very uncommunicative through out the planning of our wedding. He was inappropriately dressed for a wedding wearing a Scooby-Doo shirt. He was great in the beginning until he got his first payment. When the wedding started it was almost as if he was trying to rush things along he even left early once he got his second payment. THANK YOU STEVE!! Having never been to Hawaii before, I planned it all online from NZ. I was a little nervous booking a photographer online after reading forums and other people's bad experiences with other companies, but Steve was amazing. Why do i recommend Steve @Dream Weddings Hawaii?? ~ His communication was excellent, and if he did take longer to respond then he would apologise for not replying to emails sooner (great manners!) ~ He had plenty of photos/videos of his previous wedding shoots so this made it really easy for us to pick a location. We loved his spot in Ko'Olina because of the palm tree photos and rock pool pics we saw on the DreamWeddingsHawaii website. ~ His videos also enabled us to choose the right minister - we liked Elias and his gentle caring nature, over all of the other wedding companies' celebrants/ministers (so important to have someone you like, taking your wedding ceremony) ~ Steve was also able to organise the guitarist for our ceremony too, and the song list we chose, and he followed us around with his guitar during photos which was really romantic ~ Steve was a trooper. He not only managed to help me move the wedding the day before (because of a big storm that hit on Valentines Day) but he was also incredibly sick on the day we changed it too, yet still came, was really professional, and took great photos (thank you very much to his mum for helping me too!) ~ He was kind enough to let us choose another day for sunset photos too, which we did out at Magic Island in Waikiki - we are so grateful for that extra time Steve, especially seeing as you were back on form then too! ~ Then Steve drove us back to our hotel (where we took pics on my selfie-stick...brave doing so in front of a professional photographer, but he was busy driving) ~ And before we flew back home from our wedding/honeymoon we had already received our ceremony AND sunset photos, PLUS he dropped off copies of our wedding video to our hotel reception with our photo on the front of the DVDs and in blu-ray format as we requested. We're from California and both have large families so a wedding here was nearly impossible so we decided to do a destination wedding in Hawaii. I found Steve and Dream Weddings Hawaii through an online search and after researching a bit I decided to book his services. From the first time I contacted Steve he was easy to work with and made me feel at ease about planning a wedding without ever having even been to the island. He provided recommendations for other service providers in the area such as hair and makeup, cake, etc which was great considering I had no one I knew that I could ask. I had set up with Steve for a photo and video package which I was able to customize to get the number of shots I wanted, as well as he provided a simple flower circle and guitar-playing wedding singer at my request - all for a very reasonable fee. Steve also helped recommend the best location for the time of day we wanted. Having never been to Oahu myself I had nothing to go off of and had received a recommendation from a friend who used to live there. Steve kindly explained that although that beach was great it wouldn't provide the sunset shots we were looking for and would be very windy. He recommended another location and showed me example photos of the same time of day we wanted which was perfect! As you know once the wedding day starts approaching you kind of panic a bit about all the what-ifs so I had asked to meet Steve prior to the wedding day just to be safe. He kindly agreed - he offered to meet me at my hotel so it would be easier for me which was great! He quickly set my mind at ease when he recalled all the details we had previously discussed. Honestly I was surprised because being in the service industry myself I know that once you start dealing with tons of people you start to confuse the details and forget things, but not Steve. :) On the day of the wedding he and his team (Rev. Elias Parker and guitarist "sorry I don't recall your name") were on time and ready to roll. He made sure to run us through what would be happening so we wouldn't be confused with all that was going on. The ceremony was beautiful. I was surprised how much info the Reverend knew about us considering he and I had never spoken before, but I assume Steve shared our story with him, which was great. It made the ceremony more personal to us, not just the generic mumbo jumbo. The guitarist played a nice song as my dad walked my up (although it wasn't the song I requested). That was the only draw back - I had requested a ukulele player originally and that he play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as my dad walked me up since that song has a special place in our hearts, but when we arrived it was a guitarist and no over the rainbow. That's ok though because it was still beautiful and we were so caught up in the moment that it didn't even matter. Fast forward to after the ceremony - Steve started our photos. He was great about making sure to time the shots exactly right to catch the breaking waves in the background and was great at giving cues and telling us how to pose. He was very friendly and made us feel comfortable! Since the wedding was just a few days ago I haven't received my photos or video yet, but I'm sure they won't disappoint! Steve showed us a few of the shots on his camera before we left and talked about some of the ways he would edit them to adjust lighting, etc. I'm sure they'll be wonderful! So we got married 10 months ago and I forgot to post a review. I always heard that weddings were expensive, stressful but our experience with Steve it was the exact opposite. He was so nice in dealing with my wife & I, he gave great advice when it came to location, flowers and make-up. I worked with Steve to plan my November wedding. We are from the east coast, so Steve was great at helping us do our planning remotely so that we could just show up for our big day. He is great - he knows the perfect areas around the island that are relatively secluded so you can get those great tourist-free shots, and is good at suggesting places if it is raining (which is what happened to us). He is awesome and fun to shoot with, and gave us good direction for our posture to get great pictures. Finally, he is super accommodating. Like many, we were traveling from across the country to get married in Hawaii. My sister is a travel agent and Steve was recommended to her by one of the other agents she works with that arranges a lot of travel to the Islands. Steve is very responsive, professional and his work is top-notch. I checked out his website before reaching out to get an idea of the packages he offered (as well as check out his work) and called him with a list of questions. He will customize any package for you to suite your needs, and his pricing is beyond reasonable especially considering the quality of his work. We planned to be married at Sherwoods but ended up moving to the other side of the island due to rain. Steve also specializes in weather forecasting (joking, but really.....)...he called the day before our ceremony to let us know that we would need to move locations. The day of the wedding it worked out perfectly. It was raining in Waikiki where we were staying, but a 40 minute limo ride to Ko'Olina offered sunny skies and a beautiful setting (Brides - consider this location!) We wanted a low-stress Wedding, which is one of the reasons we chose to elope to Hawaii. I am still surprised how easy it was thanks to Steve. I spoke with him a couple of times when we were planning what package we wanted, he told me the only thing he needed from me after we squared away the paperwork was a photo of the bouquet he would arrange for me. While he gives a realistic timeline for how long it will take to get your photos back (believe it was 4-6 weeks for me), I had them 5 days later! I wouldn't expect anything shorter than the timeline he provides, but I think it was awesome he got them to us so soon considering we had loved ones back home anxious to see them since they were in Hawaii with us. We did the upgraded video as well. Great quality, our families loved it. Nice guy who does great work. He even dropped us off at our hotel after the Sunset photos. Really laid back but don't mistake that for him not being on top of the details on your special day - he had everything covered. The minister he works with is great as well. I was concerned it would be a bit awkward being married by someone we hadn't met before (like when you go to a funeral and the preacher mispronounces the name of the deceased!) but it wasn't like that at all. I find it funny how he remembers the whole story and decides to change what he wants in it.. This guy is full of sh**!Who takes 6 months for pics after your wedding! I was promised 3-4 weeks not months..don't promise people what u can't deliver! Besides he takes about an hour for everything on your wedding day. How busy can u be??? read more

First off, I'm a guy trying to plan a surprise vow renewal for my wife for our 10 yr anniversary. Being a guy I had no idea where to start with this, especially with planning a destination vow renewal for that matter. So of course I resorted to Google and of course I came across dozens of wedding planners offering weddings, vow renewals and everything was ala carte. At this point I'm already overwhelmed and wondering if I'm going in over my head on trying to plan something like this. So I emailed several of the planners, all were very nice, but after a couple questions came the "put down a deposit and we can discuss further". After not being able to get answers on how they perform their ceremonies, I continued my search. Along came Steve and his Dream Weddings Hawaii site. Very simple and easy to look at, what the selling feature was for me is that he had a video of a vow renewal posted and I was immediately sold. I knew exactly what I wanted with the help of that video and then chose everything else for it after (photos, video and leis). Because this was a surprise Steve listened to all my ideas and chimed in with his own ideas to make the day extra special. After my many questions and Steve responding to them all, I was the one that actually asked Steve on how I can lock him and the date down and that's when I finally paid the deposit! During the initial planning stage (which was several months prior) and a few days before the big day we went back and forth on many many emails about the finer details and he was always prompt with a response. To me this was important as he never gave me the feeling I could be ripped off here or may run off with my deposit. Fast forward to a few days before the big day. There were two very rare hurricane warnings for Oahu during that time. He had already emailed me to give me the heads up waaaaay before I found out while I was on the island. He even gave me options to change the date/times but I knew my wife would want this done on our anniversary day on August 7th, the day the hurricane was to hit the islands. I ended up changing my sunset vow renewal to the morning and Steve agreed that earlier would be definitely be better. You can actually read our story on his web site so I won't get into it anymore. If you want even finer detail (wedding & non wedding related), during my stay on Oahu I asked Steve where his favorite place to eat was on the island. I ended up receiving an email with links to his favorite spots on the island to several places and if the restaurant didn't have a website he looked the number/address up for me. As for the pictures, after the wedding Steve had all of our prints touched up and uploaded to a for us to download within a day after our vow renewal.
