Shopping As far as shopping and variety of clothes I love…read morethis Plato's closet. I always find stuff that I like with decent prices. More expensive then Goodwill but a good value vs buying from the actual store. They consistently have a ton of stuff so I think it's a great place for thrifters. But I've never found any high-end clothing brands. Still I would give 5 stars. Selling As far as selling goes I'm mostly happy with what I get for my items. I would guesstimate I usually get around 80-90% of retail value. But usually I'm selling stuff that I'm on the verge of giving to Goodwill so something's better than nothing. Or I will try Plato's first for fast cash and if they don't buy it then I'll list online. For higher price name brand stuff I don't think they are a good place to sell to. For instance my sister tried to sell Jordan's there that had a $150-250 resell and they offered $20. Also I've learned that you must call the day of or even before right before you head there to make sure they are buying. I've shown up a few times within buying hours and have been told they aren't buying. Overall Staff is nice. They have fitting room and a good return policy to be a thrift store. I believe you get a refund within 14 days and store credit after that.

Unwisely, I suggest coming to this disaster of a store. I say everytime I come here, I won't be back.. but somehow always end up giving them another undeserved chance. We walk in 15 minutes past 6 and "we don't buy after 6pm". So why do you stay open until 9pm? For fun? To waste time? There were atleast 4 employees standing around doing NOTHING and they were not at all busy. God forbid you do your job. Oh and unlike most Platos stores I've been to, they won't accept leaving your stuff there overnight and calling you the next day when it's gone through. And this is why I prefer to go to the Plato's on Fishers. Hopefully next time I'll have enough sense to steer clear of the trainwreck and stick to waiting for the Fishers location to be open.

Plato's Closet - One more reason I have no respect for this location. Order has been canceled without any reason given. You priced it, you shouldstand by it.

Falling under the umbrella of Good News Mission, a near-eastside ministry that started off as what one some would call a "homeless shelter" but has grown to include a youth center, supports for families, and even a neighborhood health clinic with a focus on the near-eastside. Good News Ministries Thrift Shop offers used or new clothing, furniture, appliances, household items, and much more. The thrift shop is run by residents from the men's shelter and offers them work experience and direct customer interaction. I drive by the thrift shop just about every single day on the way to work and had long been curious, however, I never stopped in until recently to finally check it out. Those who were working in the story were friendly and helpful. Rest assured that this is not a Goodwill store - it's smaller, less organized, and definitely more crowded and a bit run down. However, I found it to be clean and actually was surprised how much they actually had. 100% of the proceeds from the thrift shop help to support the various efforts of Good News Ministries. It's worth noting that this very much a ministry as is everything with Good News. There's a strong foundation of faith here, specifically Christian, and it radiates throughout their offerings. In terms of accessibility, I'd say the thrift shop offers casual accessibility. Yes, you can get in it and the actual environment typically will depend on what they have at the time. I generally had not much difficulty, but it's a bit hit-and-miss. Because it's an old Village Pantry, the building itself was generally designed with accessibility in mind. I've never seen an actual crowd here. The small parking lot has informal options for accessibility like aisle ends, etc. The thrift shop is catty-corner to the Good News 10-unit family shelter and right by the East Washington Branch Library. Would I return? Definitely. Prices are good, options are plentiful, customer service is casual but helpful, and Good News has been around since the 1950s and has a long history of helping those with housing instability. Since this is only their 2nd review, I think it's safe to say this highly visible but often unnoticed thrift shop is definitely an under-appreciated gem here in Indy and a terrific way of supporting Good News Mission. Oh, and yes, they do accept donations. You can visit their website to find out more.
