I contacted the firm to request a quote on replacing the old drapes at my front window. They were really falling apart after 40+ years. Jolynn Rodriquez came to the house, and managed to climb up the 40 steps from the sidewalk carrying several books of samples. We picked a couple of fabrics. She took measurements and gave me a reasonable price, estimating delivery in about 6 weeks. In 7 weeks she called and we made an appointment for the installation. Spencer did the installing in just about one hour. The drapes did not meet at the bottom hems. I called Jolynn, and she came up that day. She climbed on my ladder, did some adjustments at the top, and fixed the problem. We understand that you can buy shades and blinds and drapes and put them up yourself. We understand that we can go out and be our own general contractor, arranging construction, delivery, and every detail. But, that is not us. Some of our blinds came with the house when we bought it 32 years ago. Seriously. They mostly still worked, and the few that had broken off were no huge deal. Right? The replacement blinds a chain put in a few years ago in the livingroom were falling apart and awkward, but we bought them because we were -- and still are -- ignorant of the latest styles and options. We went to the chain because they offered a one-stop solution, and that appealed to us. This time we did want a better quality installation. And, we needed to replace a mix of window coverings: shades that opened from the top, shades that opened either top or bottom, and the same in blinds. Where to go? We went here to Yelp and called a top-rated company. He thanked us but said he had moved on to another speciality, BUT he suggested that we call Jolynn. Well. Excellent. She understood what we wanted both in terms of the coverings and in terms of the handholding. She came over a couple times to show us options in styles and colors. She talked to us, and politely pushed us to finally make decisions -- if we don't replace something in 32 years you understand that a little push might be helpful! She set our expectations on when the coverings would be made by the manufacturers and the time for the installation process. She beat both the delivery time and the installation effort. When there was a problem with one measurement which she'd made, there was no question about whether we really needed an exact fit. After having the room remodeled as a home theater room I needed really good drapes to use the room on sunny days. After reading the reviews on Yelp and studying the photos on Yelp and her website I called Jolynn and she responded right away. We exchanged pictures from our smart phones so she could understand what I needed and set up an appointment within two days! She arrived on time and really took many measurements and we discussed colors and features. She really knows her stuff having done this for quite a while. She really takes in the customers comments into her designs. She also quoted me up to five or six weeks on the invoice and in my case longer than that for installation. She required full payment up front. She gave me a detailed invoice of what I had paid for and the 'estimated' time it would take before my custom drapes would be installed. In my case that exceeded the estimated five and six weeks! I called Jolynn after six weeks wondering where I was in the queue and she called right back to let me know she would call back within 24 hours with the answer. After exchanging phone messages she set up an appointment for her installer. The installer arrived two hours after the planned window. He installed the first set of drapes, and when he started the second set of drapes it was found out they were cut to the wrong size which meant the installer would have to come back at a later time after they were corrected. I later found out this due to an error by a subcontractor located in the East Bay. The installer returned very shortly and installed the corrected drapery. I was happy with the outcome, but the lengthy delays and flawed construction of the second set of drapery took a couple of stars off in my satisfaction with the whole experience. If you are not in a rush and can absorb the delays she did a OK job that met my requirements. read more

Jolynn was excellent to work with. I was skeptical that having a pro company come in would result in something that would be 'enough better' than what we could do ourselves, considering the price. I was wrong, wrong, wrong. Jolynn had the contacts to find the less-common solution we wanted, the samples on hand to quickly help us narrow down our visual color, style and opacity choices, the design skills to help us create window treatments that would fit our house, and most importantly the experience to properly measure the slightly off-kilter space and make allowances for small variations in both floor-to-ceiling height and in slightly different window-to-corner sizing on the left and right sides. I wouldn't have thought to take those into consideration. The results were excellent, and considering that window coverings are not something we change more than roughly once a decade, well worth the expense. The drapes came in on time, cost what she said they'd cost, were installed beautifully, and look fantastic in our home. I am happy to recommend Drapery Works - they did an awesome job! read more

We were looking for some new drapes to replace our 17 year old ones in the living room. After doing some reviews we contacted Jolynn. She is a representative for Hunter Douglas. She had a huge assortment of samples for us to review and was very knowledgeable about their products. She was patient and willing to work with us even though we were unsure of what we wanted. Finally, we picked some vertical blinds. The installer came a few weeks later and commented that he liked working with Jolynn as she knows how to take proper measurements. He quickly installed our drapes and we are very pleased. We had gone to a nearby retail place that sells Hunter Douglas, but their estimate was 10-20% higher that what Jolynn provided. Honestly, this whole experience was a mess. I've tried to give her feedback privately and directly, but she doesn't respond. Her suggestions were wild and out of budget. She didn't talk to me about the mechanisms for the shades even once, and they all have chains. I have 2 little kids, so this isn't safe. She knew that. Her install guy was perpetually late and the first time it was because she gave him the wrong address. She regularly sends what appear to be actual photos she takes of her computer screen that include other customer's personal information. One of the shades just never showed up. It was expensive, she didn't ask the right questions/give helpful guidance, I had to keep following up, and the quality is no different than 3 day blinds. read more
