I ordered 5 yards of garden soil as well as 5 yards of mushroom compost, for a new garden bed, I paid approx. $400. I asked the store manager if this soil had many weed seeds, I was assured there were no weeds in the soil.
The soil arrived, and I was not too impressed it looked like a lot of clay.
I figured the mushroom compost would mix in with the soil and make it workable. It took many hours to fill the bed, which I did alone ( I am a woman gardener). After a few spring rains, I realized that the clay was horrible, the bed did not drain properly and the soil was becoming cooked by the summer sun, I could barely crack the surface to plant. I wound up diging out the Dragun soil and disposing of it when I wanted to plant a new perennial. To add insult to injury, there were ten million weeds coming up in my garden bed, which had been pristine. I had thistle and reeds and smart-week and even knotweed!!!! I had never had any of these weeds in my area, no less my garden...
When I called Draguns to complain, I was told that the weeds were not in the soil, all of their soil has no weeds except the soil that I received????? I guess I won Draguna weed lottery!!! The guy told me that he did not care how I reviewed him on the internet!!! read more
