We live in Montana half the year, so once a year we head to Spokane for the weekend to do some…read moreshopping. We normally stay in a hotel or the KOA. We waited too late to book the KOA so we went searching for a new campground as we wanted to bring our trailer so we could fill the fridge with Trader Joe's products. After doing some research, we discovered this RV park, which looked newer as we didn't remember seeing it before. The reviews were mixed, so I was a little concerned, but it was only two nights. We booked a specific site and on upon arrival around 7 PM Friday we quickly checked in and directed to our site. My first impression was "wow this place is pristine and clean". The grass was perfectly manicured green. The sites were concrete pads that were very clean level and well spaced out. I used the bathroom just to check it out, and it was also spotless. The location was ideal for shopping and to head downtown to Nordstrom's and dinner. You're also super close to a Trader Joe's, Safeway, Target, DSW, World Market and tons of restaurants like Olive Garden, Red Robin and other chains and local places. My only complaint was that the entire RV park is lit-up like a parking lot all night. I can see how this is great for security, but if you want to sleep with the windows open, that might be bothersome for you. Our AC was being fickle, so we did need the windows open and it was quite bright, but it won't be enough to deter me from using this place in the future. I definitely recommend this location for an in-town RV stay.

There is an excellent restaurant on premises, with finer dining options, along with affordable standards. There are a couple shower/bathroom combos available, with a few obligatory pee-atoriums for the tent campers who don't have rigs. With plenty of old growth trees, it has a rather 'woodsy' feel, which is what one wants in a camping experience. Everyone is friendly. Staff, campers, folks at the resto, were all smiles and pleasant. We enjoyed our stay here, but I have my eye on perhaps visiting mid-week, or in the shoulder seasons for a more quiet experience. However, if I were a few decades younger, I would have partied my a** off, and would be here every other weekend...

The property is right on a beautiful lake with plenty of wildlife. The onsite restaurant had fantasic food and the wait staff was very friendly. The fully stocked bar has whatever you may like to include some house specialties that are not to miss. The owners are very friendly and accomodating and are just genuinely nice folks to talk with. Spirit Lake is one of those beautiful places tucked away as a hidden gem. If you need a RV spot this is certainly a go to. We are sure to be back.

I have returned 2 more summers and plan to continue into the future. I have seen positive growth in myself as a nurse, and the staff is serious about safety. My children all have their own opinions on what they liked and disliked about camp, and I continue to allow each of them to decide their participation level. They all loved swimming daily, archery and riding the "Big Boat" to camp. Two kids don't love the outdoor air sleeping, but the 3rd one invites friends and looks forward to it every year!

By taking away our right to choose our site there is no way you get a favorite site, or a site next to friends. At a time when Thousand Trails has to deeply discount, 20% off memberships to sell them you would think they would be more member oriented. We want our right to choose returned. I even asked if we could determine our campsite for our trip in mid June so we could camp next to friends camping at the same time and was told that was not possible. I am seriously thinking about getting rid of my membership.

This year they have decided they need to pick your site for you instead of you choosing your own. Which if you are camping with friends, you probably are not getting spots near each other. Both times we stayed this year, we get to the assigned site and they are definitely not acceptable for our size rig with slides. The first site for the first outing, my husband tried to make it work, but it was way too short and narrow. No fire or use of a picnic table were happening. Slide would have been over the fire pit and no way to even sit at the picnic table. The second outing, they had us in a spot with a huge boulder on one side and our door was facing a well traveled dusty road and very limited space from the door to the road. The staff at the office worked with us to find different spots both times. If they had not have worked with us, we would have left. Sad after we had been looking forward to the trips. Luckily it was a slower time of the year. Imagine if it had been 4th of July or some other busy weekend. And the fact we spent retirement money on this membership!! The campground itself needs some work to it. The KOA side has nicer fire ring, some patio sites and the electrical outlets appear to be updated and newer. The sites appear to get better care than thousand trail side. water and electrical services at thousand trails are very old and you share your services between 2 sites throughout the campground. And sites are not level. Tree trimming and or removal Definitely should be considered. We are really questioning our decision in purchasing our membership. Also doubtful that anyone from thousand trails will even respond to this review
