I wanted to enroll in puppy kindergarten and was glad to learn that the registration is on going. You can start at any date and will get 5 lessons of 1 hour. On his first day, Bodhi got to meet with Alana & Roxanne, the trainers, and was right at home. We were shown the proper way to have dogs greet and moved to the hall where the training happens. The training hall is large and clean. The classes have a nice flow and are very interactive. You also get to interact with other dogs. There is a small break halfway through the class. Alana is very knowledgable and Roxanne gives your dog the extra attention that they sometime need. The Ottawa Canine School also has a day care including a one just for small dogs on Thursdays. Bodhi loved his experience and since he was already familiar with the settings because of puppy kindergarten, he was immediately comfortable. The only downside that I would like to point out is that you have to reserve/cancel in advance as there is no walk-ins. I would recommend both the classes and the day care and not to hesitate to contact them if you have any questions.

Visited the Ottawa Canine School for their Fun Friday small dog play date. BEYOND disappointed at…read morethe woman who ran the playdate. Extremely uninterested and unfriendly throughout. Not to mention that when my dog tried to PLAY (GASP!) at the PLAY DATE, she wouldn't cease following him around everywhere he went and giving the whole family looks, instead of approaching us with any concerns/letting us explain my dogs noisy and energetic ways. From the moment we walked in we all felt judged and considered leaving early after being told that we couldn't use some agility equipment because we were making my dog jump "too high" (maybe 3/4 of a foot?) while we were just testing out what he would be like. I was highly considering taking Timber there for some agility classes because the facility really is gorgeous, welcoming and well-kept but FAT CHANCE now. I have no doubt that their TRAINING would be fine, but this experience absolutely ruined it for me. Such a terrible waste of my $20.

We love the option to watch the live stream cameras and check in throughout the day. We have also done a recall class with Annie and learned a lot during that process. Our dog is a better dog for it. We truly appreciate the care and effort that John, Sophie and the staff put forward with each visit. Glad to have a place like this in Ottawa.

They do not ensure paying customers are aware of their strict policies and instead of informing clients they simply disregard their mistakes and blame the customer. Not sure what kind of customer service is in their "policy" but I have never experienced such disrespect from an establishment before. However I will give them 1 star for refunding me part of the classes (but not the one they made a mistake on :)!)

I found the puppy…read morekindergarten to be excellent but after taking my dog to obedience level 1, I decided not to take my dog back. Unfortunately, your experience varies greatly depending on the instructor that you get. The instructor who taught puppy kindergarten was very positive and accepting of the unique personalities of each individual dog, and provided tips and tricks to deal with specific behaviours. It was helpful and the puppies had a good time as well. The owner of Carolark taught us in level 1 and I found her both critical and judgmental. My sister was also in the class with her dog and actually stopped going to class part way through because of the owner's negative and narrow-minded attitude. Going to class was something I began to dread each week, as I wondered what I would be scolded for next. We passed the class because I put in the work and time as any owner who takes time to do a class would, but it was a time of self-doubt in my journey of responsible dog ownership. I would recommend that if you have an easy going dog, you might be ok at Carolark; but if your dog is a bit of a goofball or has high energy, or if there are some problem behaviours you are looking to get help with, I would choose another school.

I've taken my puppy to the puppy classes, level I obedience and we are now registered for level II…read moreobedience. Don't get me wrong, the previous poster isn't wrong, there were times I felt judged and as if I was being scolded for being a new puppy mom. I left my ego at the door though (as I had to! I DIDN'T know what I was doing)They were always direct in their corrections, and were always quick to tell me and my puppy when we were doing well. After each class if I had questions they were happy to answer them, from crate training, to housebreaking, to the jumping and nipping that we're still struggling with they have always had great suggestions. I went from having a very crazy puppy, who would fly around the house, do whatever he wanted, jumped and nipped, pulled like crazy to a sweet mannered puppy (aside from his excitement with new people which were working on!) who walks nicely on a leash and looks to me for directions on everything. Carolark didn't do this alone, there was A LOT of work involved at home to follow up on what we learned so that he got the consistency he deserved so he wasn't lost. They are very well informed people though, and clearly dog lovers who are teaching people how to communicate with their dogs. I'm happy with my choice in Carolark..
