I frequent this restaurant on a weekly basis just so I can get my fix of the Sala Thai Massaman Beef Curry. There are a million things that look good on the menu that I haven't got around to trying yet because I just cant get past the Massaman curry. It could be intervention time, I've gotta branch out people. I also go for the service, The lady who makes the magic happen has hospitality running through her veins; she always makes dining in an absolute pleasure with her super friendly demeanor. But what is also great is I can get takeaway so I can indulge my Massaman fetish away from the worlds prying eyes. You can find Sala Thai just off the main street in Stirling in the Adelaide hills. it doesn't accommodate hoards of people though so book ahead because its quite popular. Another plus is they will split the bill for you if you ask, love that. Oh and one last thing...Massaman Beef Curry.

Definitely the best yellow curry I have tried. Also, they are creative with their dishes and don't just throw the same veggies in every dish. They also do some great special dishes such as the yellow barramundi curry and red duck or basil duck. The owners are always very friendly and accommodating and will stop to have a chat with you. We have dined in and had take away on many occasions and can highly recommend both.

The little restaurant is set up to primarily be a take-away shop, but there is some seating inside if you prefer to enjoy your Thai food where it was made. Every time we call to place an order for pick up, they quote us about a 15 minute wait, and every time we arrive to claim our dinner, it is hot, fresh and ready to go. My fellow diners tell me that the Thai Green Curry and Thai Red Curry are fantastic, as is the pud thai. I personally adore the Basil and Chilli Tofu Noodles. We always order a side of the special vegetarian fried rice and ask for no egg. The staff are accommodating and remove the egg as requested with no hassle. My Basil and Chilli Tofu Noodles ring in at $11.50 and, along with serves of fried rice, will typically last me for three meals: the original dinner, plus two workday lunches. For value and fresh Thai food, I recommend that you let In Thais en-tice your tastebuds (sorry, had to do it!).

Mind you, the food is pretty cheap, and the service is pretty quick as well. Okay, it is basic rice or noodles with an assortment of toppings, and it is pretty small which means that you need to be lucky to get a seat, especially if it is busy. However they do offer takeaway, which means that you can go and sit on one of the benches outside (if it is a nice day of course). It's not a bad place, and the food was pretty good as well, and I'd probably come here again for a cheap meal.

My favourite would have to be the Malaysian stall. They do a good char keoy teow, curry laksa and hokkien mee dishes here. Don't bother getting the nasi lemak dish though as the sambal was awful. Prices range from $9-$10.50. I never bother with the Indian stall as it is way to expensive but you will find some good Indian bread and vegetarian dishes. Go for the Tom Yam at the Thai stall and sizzling beef and spring rolls at the Chinese stall. A dedicated drink stalls with coke, juices, soya bean, beer and wine would appease any diner. All in all, it's a pleasant little Asia under one roof.

If you can't decide, order a dish from them all. The venue is licensed, so grab a drink while you decide, and take a seat. All sections will promptly bring the food out to you. The prices are very cheap - I'm convinced you can't buy the materials for what they charge here. This is why I keep coming back for more, and then re-order take away to heat up later. The food came really fast and the staff were very efficient and attentive. The menu is HUGE! There is HEAPS to choose from for both meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans. The only problem you will have here is choosing what to eat, as everything sounds and looks delicious. My partner and I shared the vegan pork cold rolls and they were absolutely to die for. Fresh and with plenty of sauce! For mains, I had the basil tofu stir fry and my partner had the BBQ and crispy pork rice dish. Both of the portions were very big and the flavours were incredible. The prices are great also. Awesome value for money. We are already looking forward to going back.

It came with cold salad in the bowl, and quite a large bowl for $9, and the salad was dressed with an Asian flavored dressing. There was a large quantity of vermicelli at the bottom of the bowl. The meal had a good balance of sweet, sour, salty and spicy. The fish sauce was used in the perfect quantity, as too much can be overpowering. The restaurant is situated in a small group of shops and be aware of the car parking space in the front with half hour limits between 9am and 9pm. Dinner time on a mid weeknight and the restaurant is more than half full, we were shown to our table which is nicely spaced from the others. In the larger dining room, there are a couple large round tables in the corner which cater for big groups. The smaller dining area as you enter accommodated 2s and 4s, well spaced as well. Deco is clean and fresh with couple of big paintings on the walls. I liked the screen of sticks which separated the entry and dining room with decorative pots at one end. Food - as there are only the two of us which really limits the choices for sharing, nevertheless, we had one entree and 2 mains to share and that was plenty. The servings were generous especially the fish dish which we ordered. Our entree of duck salad was fresh and flavoursome, the sweet, sour and heat were all there, perhaps the chillies could have been cut back but I think it was good as an entree to get the senses going and to expect what's to follow! The signature dish of grilled chicken with green papaya and carrot salad live up to expectation. The chicken was moist and the salad was well balanced. The first mouthful of a bit of chicken, salad and accompanied by warm sticky rice was just sensational. Just wished the sticky rice can stay warm till the end of our last mouthful of the dish. The steam salmon in savoury custard was a bit too runny for my liking and the custard had separated with over cooked 'egg', but it tasted great, in fact, I was glad of the 'sauce' in the end to douse my rice like a good curry does. We left without sampling desserts which were mainly ice cream and sticky rice. The rainbow ice cream bar of strawberry, coconut, pandan and orange sounds a great combination, looks like I'll be back one day. I'll try the curries then as well.
