Photography and film are two things that I thoroughly enjoy, so when I find a store that sells gadgets for either of those activities I'm a happy man. Even if the stuff the sell is the same as in Mong Kok or Sham Shui Po it's still interesting to know about them, for any level of cameraman.
Dragon Image caters for the part time professional. The equipment is good enough for certain projects but not nearly acceptable for the bigger, more glamorous shoots. That doesn't matter, though, because you need to start somewhere. I went in more out of curiosity than necessity after spotting it along the bridge that goes from the immigration tower to the Wan Chai MTR. They have the basic camera accessories, some nice looking LED lights, soft boxes and the bare necessities for studio lighting - strobe lights, some diffusers, that sort of thing. I'm not a big shot (no pun intended) by any means so I was more than happy to check out their gear. What really caught my eye were the number of table setups they have for photographing products. A mini range of different light boxes and even a small rotating machine for smaller jewelry that would work perfectly for a product video for watches. They price their equipment a little bit higher than that in Sham Shui Po but they also have a few things I couldn't find in Kowloon, and the difference wasn't life threatening!
I rated this store as average simply because of what I compare it to. It is a place I will go to when looking for camera related things, just not the first place. That being said there are not many of these stores on HK island and the next time I'm in need of a rotating watch stand I know exactly where to go! read more
