In comes the ingenuity of Hong Kong's land developer: it sits next to the biggest regeneration area for the forseeable future; Kai Tak. This new mall isn't a purpose built one, its actually built to cater for the residents living upstairs. You will find this as soon as you walk in: there are no major brand name stores and in fact most of the basement area is taken up by the Yata supermarket. There are of course the normal chain stores though in general the whole feeling with this place could be described as neighborly. If you were looking around for a less tourist filled mall for a leisurely afternoon trek then this place may be for you- I say afternoon because its actually quite small and you should be done with it within about 2 hours. I would say that its good in the sense it caters for most basic stuff and you don't have to fight with other people just to get to the toilet. Though it may not be the first mall that comes to my mind if I was a tourist in Hong Kong. If you find yourself working in the area or living in Kowloon East then I guess this would be a place that I would do my groceries from,

There are not that many shops besides Ikea and Aeon. Dining options are limited as well. Hence the 3 stars. However they have many shops and activities that cater to kids: indoor playhouse, go kart, etc. we took our daughter to the indoor playhouse on 12th floor she loved it. I haven't been there for a long time as the shopping mall became old and unattractive. Recently I went there again and was pleasantly surprised how much it improved. It underwent extensive renovation and they added a lot of new shops and good restaurants. All necessities are covered, all the banks are there, they have a cinema, a lot of electronics shops and a very good supermarket. In general everything here is inexpensive or medium prices.

I stumbled onto this shop while browsing in the Wanchai Computer Shops. Had been looking for a Sony…read moreE lens the last 2 days and have been quoted some ridiculous prices. There was a good range of Sony Cameras and accessories as well as other products. Darren the sales person was able to show me a Sony E lens for 10% less than the lowest quote I have been offered so far. Carmen the resident photographic expert gave me lots of helpful hints. It was easy to see that Carmen was passionate about photography. They all spoke good English. I was most happy to purchase the lens from these guys. It tested well on my camera and did what it was supposed to. Obviously I was a little apprehensive about the warranty etc. But for the price, I took a punt. I have since been able to register the lens with the Australian Sony website and the serial number posed not problems, for what it is worth. Overall it was a very pleasant experience without having to haggle. Alan's contribution was a nod to agree on the price and an advice to me NOT buy the Nikon Lens to Sony E mount adapter yet as there was problems. I wish these guys well and hope they continue to look after their customers.

Shopping in Hong Kong…read more.. The Arcade of The Peninsula Hotel has an exclusive collection of high-end shops. There are several levels. We didn't go to the Mezzanine Level, but we did visit the Goyard Boutique on the Ground Floor. We also used the impressive restroom on the Basement Level. Besides having a shelf for belongings, there was also a purse hook, and sanitizer in each stall! If you're looking for Brand Names, this is the place to shop!

This stunning building is home to the Peninsula Arcade that's filled with many high end shops many familiar like Chanel and Louis Vuitton and some that I'm so not aware of places such as Goyard and Jimmy Chen just to name a few. It was a lovely place to browse and see the various shops though it's out of my price range and we walk through with the Phantom Of The Opera playing has my posture and vibe feeling a bit fabulous. Back in the day, Lucky Plaza was a seedy mall that sold everything from pirated video games to X…read morerated videos. When you went in there, there was the distinct smell of cigarettes lingering in the air and seeping from the inside of the mall. The shops were either empty or operated by people who you really don't want to mess with and the deeper you went inside the less desirable it became. Turn the clock forward to the modern day, the place has cleaned itself up big time. There are no smokers, no fake CDs- instead there is now a supermarket, some old shops have carried through the regeneration including some shops selling mobile phones and watches which have been here forever. The mall's focus is now less centralized than before, you have a lot of shops focused on ladies fashion, a number of stores that sells mobile and electronics and a number of pharmacies. This turnaround is such a big one that I trust anyone who came here in the old days probably couldn't recognize it now . Good riddance to the old days when I just thought this place was waiting to be taken apart and this regeneration has really breathed a new lease of life into the margin of the Shatin City Centre complex. Would I come here all the way to see it? No. If you live nearby though, this is a pretty good place to kill time.

Walking distance from New Town Plaza, Lucky Plaza is a little shopping mall that is home to many…read moresmall shops. There are no big names here (for that, head back to New Town Plaza!). Instead, the shops here are more so small, family-owned businesses - a very refreshing chain from the other internationalized and chain-dominating malls of HK. Lucky Plaza is not big - you can circle it in a couple of minutes if you try. My favorite thing to do here is to explore the 'locker shops'. This is a concept where the shop consists of multiple squares, each divided from one another, and the sets of items in each are different. Rent in HK is expensive, and sometimes, a store owner may not have that much to sell. These locker stores allow them to rent out a locker or two monthly to sell their items while not having to be physically present in the store. As a result, a locker store is basically a ton of shops within a shop. It may be surprising what you can find here! My most recent purchase from Lucky Plaza was actually a drinking game from one of the locker shops here - I thought it would make a fun gift for a friend's birthday, and it was pretty inexpensive! K-pop merchandise is very popular here, including posters, folders and even playing cards, with each card featuring a different photo of a Korean celebrity! If you're interested in scrap booking or other crafts, you'll be able to find a lot of nice materials for that too. There are about three or four of these locker shops and they are usually the main reason for me coming to Lucky Plaza. The clothing stores at Lucky Plaza are not so remarkable though - a lot of brightly colored oversized t-shirts or outfits that are just way over the top. There are one or two accessories shops that are worth checking out though. As for food, your dining options are pretty limited. Tam Zai (Yunan-style noodles) is not bad, but I'm not a fan of the other restaurants here. It's best to venture back to New Town Plaza where there are a lot more restaurants to choose from!

This mall is a perfect illustration of that excess. It's floor after floor of food, clothes, electronics, etc. Just look at my photo. It's like 10 or 11 floors, just stuffed with people. The food court gets so full that people will just stand next to your table, waiting for you to finish so they can grab a place to eat. Please, please let there never be a fire in this place.
