I recently took the all female basic pistol course with AFT. There were 6 of us in the class, and…read morethe maximum class size is 12 so that everyone gets the necessary attention. I very much appreciated the small class size because it gave us more time to answer questions and for hands-on practice. Susan was our instructor, and she was great. She was both patient and eager with our questions, and quick to give a real life examples of the technical information provided. The two day course is perfect. The classroom day is heavy on safety and pistol knowledge. I thought that I wouldn't want all that information, but all of it was worthwhile. I ended that day comfortable with how a pistol works, how to handle misfires and hangfires, and how to safely grip and handle a pistol. I was initially nervous on the gun range day, but Tom, Susan and Michelle were so great - patient and encouraging. We were able to handle a variety of pistols and shot seated, standing with both hands and standing using one hand at a time. If found shooting oddly relaxing, and I zoned out a few times when shooting multiple shots at a time. I wanted to shoot more and if I'd had a gun, I could have. So if you have a gun, bring it with you (unloaded of course) and they'll work with you on your grip and shooting methods with it. It was hard to use so much of a weekend for this course (9:00-4:00 on Saturday and 8:30-2:00 on Sunday), but it was so, so worth it. Yelp 100 #60

Whew... today was a GOOD day!…read more I completed my training at LAWES Private Training Academy and I have to say--this experience was nothing short of amazing. The level of professionalism, structure, and attention to detail really stood out from beginning to end. Sgt. Thompson ran a tight, professional program and made sure everything was done the right way. You can tell he takes pride in what he does and expects the same from everyone in the room. And Mr. Earl Seegars... hands down one of the best trainers I've ever worked with. He made the training engaging and enjoyable, but never once lost sight of the seriousness that comes with handling a firearm. He pushes you, builds your confidence, and makes sure you walk away better than you came in. I walked in ready to learn, and walked out feeling confident, prepared, and proud of myself. If you're looking for real training done the right way, I highly recommend LAWES Private Training Academy. On to the next level
