The last time I came I felt very stiff and 3 months pregnant. I talked to Dr David if it was safe and he explained he is experienced and knowledgeable when someone is pregnant. For 3 weeks, it was extremely painful to sit, walk and lay down for long periods. I had been seeing a chiropractor for 3 or 4 sessions, but I wasn't seeing a change. I was going to be traveling abroad for a few weeks on a vacation and I was in massive pain -- despite having seen my chiropractor just the day before. I didn't want to get on a plane without another consultation, but my regular spot was closed. I found Dr. Dave on a Sunday and thank God! Not only did he LISTEN intently and ask lots of questions, but through a series of short tests, he took the time to explain what was going on with my back and hip. And THEN! He spent the next hour physically stretching me out and popping me to get me right. By the end of the session I felt SO much better! The daily stretch routine he gave me to make sure that I didn't revert back to pain proved to be essential after a 10 hour plane ride and for the duration of my trip. It's been 3 weeks since that session and my pain is a distant memory. I went from feeling like my pain would never go away to not even remembering what it felt like. I will definitely be purchasing more sessions to keep myself on track. I rarely write reviews, but I want to recommend him to everyone I know. Thank you, Dr. Dave!

I have been seeing Dr. Sonbol at Balance Acupuncture since 2018, and I genuinely don't know how to…read moreput into words what this woman has meant to my life and my health. Over the years, Dr. Sonbol has become so much more than my acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. She has become like a grandmother to me. There is a warmth, wisdom, and genuine love in the way she cares for her patients that is incredibly rare. And I understood just how rare it was after I had taken a break from seeing her because I moved out of state during Covid. I returned to Los Angeles years later but in 2025, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was one of the first people my intuition told me to call   During one of the most frightening and vulnerable periods of my life, when I suddenly found myself navigating oncologists, surgeons, chemotherapy, and an entire medical system, Dr. Sonbol was the one practitioner who consistently made me feel completely seen--not just as a patient or a diagnosis, but as a whole human being. I never walked into her office feeling like "the cancer patient." I walked in feeling cared for, protected, and loved. She supported me throughout chemotherapy with acupuncture and Chinese medicine, and my personal experience was remarkable. I made it through chemo with surprisingly few side effects aside from losing my hair, and I truly believe the care I received from Dr. Sonbol played a meaningful role in helping my body through it. After chemotherapy ended, she continued caring for me and helping me love and accept the new person I have stepped into. Today, I am cancer-free, and when I think about the people who carried me through that chapter of my life, Dr. Sonbol is unquestionably one of them. And this isn't limited to my cancer experience. Every time she has recommended self-care products or prescribed Chinese herbs for me over the past months, I have been amazed by how quickly I notice a difference--often within 24 hours. I've called them my miracle herbs because I cannot believe how dramatically I feel them working for me. But perhaps the greatest gift Dr. Sonbol has given me is an entirely different way of understanding health. She was the first person who taught me to think of the human body as an ecosystem--that our physical health cannot be separated from our psychological, emotional, social, and environmental lives. That idea stayed with me so profoundly that it ultimately helped inspire my own academic interest in biopsychosocial health while earning my master's degree in clinical psychology. Her influence on me has extended far beyond the treatment room. If you are considering Balance Acupuncture, I cannot recommend her highly enough. I have trusted Dr. Sonbol with my health for eight years, including during the most serious health crisis of my life. I will forever be grateful that somehow, all those years ago, I found my way into her office and into her care. My gratitude for Dr. Sonbol is greater than I can ever express in words. I can never thank her enough.
