Do not go to Dr Pautler; I am a licensed clinical medical social worker. The drops that he uses for dilation are too strong; I am still dilated after 5 days!! I called into the office to speak to Paulter MD twice during the week and he did not call me back. I was not given informed consent regarding the risk of dilation. But when I talked to his assistant, he immediately told me that people with light colored eyes could be dilated for 48 hours; I was never told this. If people with light colored eyes stay dilated longer, why don't they use less dilation solution? Why don't they use a solution that's not as strong? Why don't they warn them? All good questions but I was unable to speak to the doctor to ask him. The ongoing dilation has interfered with my ability to drive especially at night; it has interfered with my ability to work, it has interfered with my ability to socialize normally but I was not informed of the risks. You have choices about which doctor you go to; don't go to this doctor. Go to a doctor who will call you back when there is a problem. Kevin M, LCSW read more
