The eye exam was pleasurable and was a great experience. The staff is very helpful as well. The selection of glasses is not the typical styles you think of going to a doc office. They have all different from classic to trendy and from lower end pricing to higher including name brands like Ray Ban, coach, Tory Burch, MK and even Tom Ford. I was interested to learn the VSP cover more than half of these designer frames cost! Win win! My Glasses were in before the week was up and I was on my way. My right eye swelled up and I had bruises on my face. They did a cat scan and said no bones were broken. I didn't realize I had additional damage that would require eye surgery. Two days later, I couldn't see clearly in my right eye. I called Dr. Mahootchie's office and they got me in the next morning. Apparently, I hit my head so hard I knocked the crystal lens from cataract surgery 10 years before out of position. I have been Dr. Mahootchie's patient for many years and trust him completely. I knew he would take care of it for me. On Oct. 7th I had surgery at the Surgery Center on the grounds behind the Eye Clinic of Florida. I was reminded when I arrived, what a superb staff he has. Getting any kind of Eye surgery is always a situation that can make a patient worry. I can honestly say I wasn't concerned at all. I have been on the receiving end of his excellent care fore many years. His experience and expertise are unparalleled. He's a fantastic surgeon and his staff both in the office and in the Surgery Center are professional, welcoming, respectful and very kind. There is no other opthalmologist I would ever consider going to. You can trust him to take wonderful care of you. My surgery on the 7th was a success. Went to have an appointment for the first time with my son. I spent over $100 with insurance for…read morejust for the visit it appears. I asked for the prescription and they said it wasn't set. We got another appointment but kept having to reschedule because I have a special needs child. When I tried to set another appointment to get the actual prescription I should have gotten on the first try, they said I owe a fee for the cancelled appointments AND I have to pay for another appointment where I may or may not get the prescription again. Don't go there, they make you pay extra one way or another. They make you wait at least 30 minutes after your appointment time. They shove another sales opportunity at you with the eye therapy... conveniently not covered by insurance.

After several unsuccessful surgeries including an excruciating scleral buckle procedure I was told there was nothing more she could do for me, offered a two dollar off eye drop coupon and said good luck. Charged insurance and out of pocket thousands, institute received very large payment with no positive outcomes. Bottom line, left me to suffer without so much as a courtesy concern.
