I got there 20 minutes early and was the first one there so I could pick the reformer I wanted. When I checked in, the instructor, Adelene, told me I would be at the reformer all the way at the end of the class by the wall. I was surprised that reformers were pre-assigned. She introduced herself and was polite, but that's where the positives end. She asked if I had any injuries but didn't ask about my experience level. Class started and it was a horrible experience, poor instruction, poor visibility and lack of attention to the class as a whole. This class was extremely difficult to follow, and I couldn't keep up. The instructor focused almost entirely on correcting one student, while a few others got minimal direction. I wasn't helped or corrected at all, even though I was clearly confused. The instructor's voice was low and unclear, and when she demonstrated movements, she was often blocked by other students. She stayed at the front of the studio, occasionally moving toward the center, but never came to the back where I was. My neck started to hurt from constantly trying to see what she was doing. At one point, the woman next to me asked what she was saying, and I shrugged because I didn't know either. read more

My fave studio! I always get the best workout and I love how the instructors always offer spring suggestions on how to make the class "harder" (or easier if that's your vibe). I've been loving Adelene's Advanced class on Friday afternoons. It has really changed how I practice Pilates in general. She always gives so many good cues! read more

Love this studio! All of the instructors I have had have been amazing, motivating, and knowledgeable. It's the north end of larchmont so I never have trouble parking. The classes are challenging but doable and they do a great job of accommodating any injuries. I def recommend! read more

In response to the owner's reply: Doug, it was not just one time that new students were let in early. I saw it happen multiple times, while I was turned away twice and charged. I was never given an exception. So this is absolutely false. Doug, your studio shows favoritism to new students, which will only endanger them if they are new to a reformer. Secondly, your studio DID, in fact, block my account on Class Pass. See the screenshot uploaded here from today: "This business has disabled services for your user account." And yes, I did find a great studio to be loyal to and also take privates with a rockstar instructor. The management at your studio are all a bunch of liars. Good riddance. read more

Dr Pilates - Proof that Dr Pilates blocked me on Class Pass after I complained about favoritism with their grace period. - Pilates Near Me - Los Angeles, California

This studio is one of my favorite places to practice in the area. I've taken class with Wes and Sonya. Sonya has this melodic cadence when she's counting down each move that almost makes you forget how hard you're working. Wes offered plenty of accommodations for different mobility and flexibility levels. Both were so detailed and demonstrated how to do each exercise correctly. The studio is small but covers all the basics. The machines are always clean and in working order. There is a water bottle filling station and I noticed a shower in the restroom. Parking is the only thing I sometimes struggle so if you can walk or get dropped off, I would! read more

I've done pilates with reformers at several different studios and I've always wanted to try out this place. Finally had the chance, and I was very pleased with the experience. This small studio was clean. I found the class challenging and interesting enough that I intend to definitely return. Plenty of metered street parking. I was lucky enough to find one that had some money in it long enough till street parking became free that evening. read more

Dr Pilates - Part of the reformer - Pilates Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Lovely studio with top-notch equipment where you'll be challenged and encouraged to reach your strengthening and toning goals. Lots of classes and instructors so you can make your ideal schedule and get those results! My personal favorites are Intermediate/Advanced sessions with Sonya (precise and fun), Aaron (creative and calm), Eeda (diligent and warm) and Paige (rigorous and kind). They make you want to show up and stick with it - and they're rooting for you all the way! The studio staff are also extremely helpful and keep the place spotless and organized. If you're looking for a chill space where people take their workouts seriously, I highly recommend dr pilates! read more

Sonya was a wonderful instructor and so helpful! Good for beginners or long time pilates goers.

Amazing studio! Super helpful team and incredible instructors. Def. Feel like I'm part of a community

I've been trying to look for a new pilates studio close to my home, and signed up for a class through Class Pass to try. The space is a bit small and the machines are a bit on the older side, but the class was still challenging! I'm not sure if I'd come back, but it's a decent studio and definitely worth checking out. ENJOY! PS: Street parking only, I just got lucky. :/ read more

Bring grippy socks! A small studio with about 12-16 benches for Pilates. The workout I went to was heavy on the resistance bands - so if you like them you will love this class. The class is tough and definitely not for beginners- I didn't read the ClassPass disclaimer fully and pushed thru but i should have started with a beginners class as it tells you to. Luckily I've done Pilates classes and workout boards before so I was okay but the instructor had to spend some time correcting my form LOL. It's priced really well on ClassPass for Pilates if you're into that- so I definitely recommend! Parking is okay early in the AM or later but the streets of Hollywood get packed so give yourself time (: read more

I've been attending regularly for over two years now. Every teacher I've had brings something unique which makes each class feel like a different workout. My abs, thighs and booty LOVE IT! If you're new or nervous about Pilates, they have great one-on-one sessions. That's how I started. The facility is spotless and their amazing staff makes sure to wipe every machine down in between classes. read more

I really wanted to like Dr. Pilates. It's close to work and they have so much class availability. I took my first class with Tatiana and fell inlove. I had mentioned to her about my injury and she guided me through the class with ease. She helped with breathing and posture which is amazing so after her class I wanted to try Dr. Pilates once again. I had my second class with Eeda and I felt humiliated that I wanted to run out of the class within 20 minutes. She was so rude that I felt humiliated in the class. She first introduced herself to me and she knows that it was my second time at Dr. Pilates. I also mentioned to her about my injury and she was empathetic saying that she has the same injury. Midway of the class she made everyone face my direction where I am in front and she was giving positions I have no idea of (every instructor is different and since I am new to her class I woulnd't know her flow of things). It wouldve been nice to be shown how its done but she just kept raising her voice that im doing it wrong and that I should step aside and just watch. HOW RUDE. I have never been to a Pilates studio that an instructor would ask me to STEP ASIDE. I am a paying customer as well and I was there to work out. If she needed me to watch, at least she could do is show it to me as she was right in front of me. but she was just saying things in words and refuses to show me how she wanted things to go. I am also not new with Pilates so I wouldn't say I'm a beginner. I have been doing this for months and wanted to see how Dr. Pilates could be an addition to the studios I have tried. I wish I would have stayed with Tatiana. But needless to say, I have never felt more humiliated with Eeda. She should have been more careful with people who have injuries, not HUMILIATE them. read more

I've been going to classes at DR Pilates for over 5 years. The staff is wonderful and caring. They kept me motivated while greeting me with hugs, greatly helping me through the loss of my husband, who had also been a client. Aaron is my go-to instructor 3 times a week and is popular with senior or new clients because he gears his program to make us concentrate and work hard, not wear us out. read more

Absolutely Love Dr Pilates! I am fortunate to be able attend classes everyday and have for the last 4 months. It such an inviting studio, the instructors are all very knowledgeable, respectful of injuries with modifications and always available to help me. Entire staff is welcoming and helpful in every way. I never feel like I don't belong there. I have gained so much strength, balance and confidence in my practice. I highly recommend giving it a try. I have never had a bad class, but because of my personal schedule, Aaron, Elena, Emma, Paige and Brynna are favs. You really can't miss here, it's all personal preference. Dr Pilates is the only proper pilates studio that offers classes every hour between 12 - 4 PM in L.A. I work nights and most studios have such limited options for my schedule. When I called Dr. Pilates, I found the staff to be helpful and informative. Luckily, they were running a sweet deal when I called. At Stephanie's suggestion, I purchased 3 classes for $80. She let me know that if I like the studio and purchase a 6 month membership for a monthly unlimited package they would apply the $80 towards package. After trying 2 classes with two different instructors I was hooked. I was able to purchase an unlimited monthly membership (w/6 month commitment) for $213 a month. If you do Pilates on the regular, you know what a good deal this is. I've been going to Dr. Pilates, at least 4 times a week for the last month. Every instructor is detail oriented, gives corrections and offers options for those who are more or less advanced. As for the complainers... I drive a big sprinter van and I've never had an issue parking. Not once. If you do Pilates, you know you can't show up late. It's not about the studio being lame. You're being disruptive to everybody else that arrived on time. Giving a 5 minute grace period is very fair. The studio very clean and they keep the temperature very comfortable. Big bonus, the bathroom is super clean with a shower! read more

Best Pilates studio in Hollywood! Awesome teachers and a lot of them so you can change it up and always keep your body challenged. My favorite ones are Sonya, Tara & Brynna. They are so fun - classes fly by. It's also a nice room and very clean. Staff is lovely and I like that classes are a quick 50 mins which is super convenient and pretty much leaves no excuse not to work out. Also, I never have issues finding parking - there's always plenty of street parking available on Melrose or the side streets. Highly recommended. read more

First time there and new to Pilates. Sonya , the instructor, was fabulous, taking extra watch over my husband and I and being very kind while doing so. The girls at the front desk were welcoming and very helpful getting us all signed in and ready to go! We're going back this week! Great find! Not far from our house read more

Dr Pilates is my home away from home! The classes are challenging but approachable and the teachers are really great. The staff know you by name and welcome you each time. Best Pilates in the neighborhood! I came back recently, and have been taking Wes' beginner classes -- he's patient and fantastic at helping me and everyone else get acquainted (or in my case reacquainted) with the reformer. I love dr pilates. I've been going twice a week for four months and feel stronger and leaner. I used to exercise and lift weights at home, but I feel like dr pilates is intense enough that I do yoga on my off days, and it is more than enough for me to look and feel great. I enjoy the instructors because they are detailed in their alignment and creativity. My favorite teachers are Jennifer, Lauren and Adelene. The studio is immaculately clean, and classes start and end on time. Briana is always welcoming when I come to class. This is my all time favorite pilates studio in Los Angeles! (And I've been to a ton of them) It's immaculately clean, the staff is lovely, the community is really welcoming and friendly, and feels like a family after a short time. I love how they have classes on the hour every hour from early morning til nighttime. I have a few teachers that are my favorites but it's truly hard to go wrong. And it's easy to sign up for classes via the Mindbody app which is so convenient. Highly recommend! read more

If you're looking for a great full body workout that's accessible no matter your fitness level with attentive and skilled instructors and great staff, look no further than dr pilates. The studio is run efficiently--they have a smooth system that keeps the flow of hourly classes on time while making sure sanitation of equipment is consistent. The friendly and professional staff are on top of it and communicate clearly, but are never pushy. They really set the tone for the studio and have managed to keep dr pilates a safe, respectful, and friendly place for everyone. The instructors all have different styles from the classical pilates end of the spectrum to the circuit training end. They're all worth trying to experience the diversity of approaches to pilates and no matter what, it's a great workout. The instructors are all quite knowledgable and specific on what muscle groups you're engaging, so they will correct your form, which I think is crucial. Pilates itself is customizable to your strength level and the instructors are clear and quick to provide modifications to accommodate you. There are folks recovering from or with chronic injuries who attend regularly and pregnant women as well. There is also a wide age range--pilates is really for everyone. In terms of quality of work out, I'll put it this way: I sleep so well at night after I've gone to pilates. I started as someone who never worked out and would go to the studio twice per week to now going 5-6 times per week. It was a struggle early on but it's amazing to see what your body can do with some consistency and focus. Yes, I've seen some esthetic changes to my body that pop culture would deem positive, but most importantly, I've noticed a significant increase in my mobility, strength, and flexibility. read more

Love Dr. Pilates! As someone who sits all day and having to constantly bend, my back, shoulders, and neck were in constant pain. My whole body always felt stiff and tense. I knew I had to do something about it and people always recommended pilates. One day I was driving to work and noticed Dr Pilates close by, which was perfect! I decided to give it a try and signed up for the new client intro pack. Initially, it felt very intimidating. I never realized how inflexible I was. I could barely get past my knees when trying to touch my toes. Fast forward, and 6 months later, my whole body feels amazing. The stretching, strength training, and breathing exercises has really helped loosen up my whole body. And, I can finally touch my toes! Highly recommend Dr. Pilates! I've been trying to get back on my fitness game recently and have been eyeing dr pilates for a while and I finally took a class last night with Jennifer. I'd say I was out of shape with no core strength. The class was so hard!! But Jennifer pushed me to keep going and motivated me to finish the class. It was an all levels class but it kicked my bum real bad. Great burns. We used weights and a box on top of the reformer which was also fun. Jennifer did not have any breaks in between which I appreciated and she changed all the weights for us on the reformer which saved a lot of time. She was efficient and quick to correct my form and actively walked around the studio to see everyone moving. She also demonstrated some of the position changes and moves which was so helpful. I got a new member package 3 classes for $75 on the MINDBODY app. You can sign up for classes on the app and they will call you if you are on the waitlist to see if you can come to the class. Great first experience with dr pilates. Come ready to be sore!! read more
