I had tried acupuncture before for migraines and the Western trained doc didn't help at all but the Chinese trained doc I tried after worked wonders but is now retired. Since I'm active military, I moved out of Maryland to Texas in 2016 but I've continued to come back every year to get his treatment because I've tried many other acupuncturist and they don't come close to the effectiveness when it comes to his way of treatment. Therefore, if you want to guarantee the doctor understands the process completely, I recommend finding someone who grew up with that culture. He understands what it is you need, doesn't hide behind semantics over what a symptom or disorder might be called, and knows exactly where to treat.
