I went to Dr. Doctora about 12 years ago to have my wisdom teeth removed and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Mine were fused to the jawbone but he performed the extractions under sedation and before I knew it, we were done. Recovery was very fast and I haven't had a single issue since. With such a great experience, when my son needed his wisdom teeth extracted to prevent destroying thousands of dollars of orthodontic treatment, Dr. Doctora was the obvious choice. He did a great job on my son, and my son's recovery has been quick. Dr. Doctora even called later in the evening to check on how he was doing. From the beginning , the experience with the front desk/ check in staff, to Dr.Doctora was a horrible experience ! My special needs son was in a lot of pain, and he failed to relate to my son's insurance. This caused a delay and the insurance turned us down. My son has to be in the hospital for removal of his teeth. The only person whom cared was his assistant MiKayla.. the office is Cold .. the dr. is cold! I found a doctor whom cares and knows how to relate to us and the insurance and now the surgery is scheduled.. I cannot ever recommend another person to this doctor. I believe he was not qualified enough for my son, therefore he should have recommended another doctor.. then my son would have already had the procedure. Terrible Experience! read more

Upon recommendation from a dentist, I visited Dr Joe Doctora's Smyrna office, having had prolonged issues with my wisdom teeth and required surgery. It turned out to be an excellent recommendation, as the entire procedure was first class, from start to finish. The staff were caring and excellent overall in handling my case. Then Dr Doctora did an excellent job, removing 4 wisdom teeth, as though nothing happened. It's been just over two weeks since the surgery, and everything is feeling normal with me. The healing has been very quick, and Dr Joe Doctora continued to be in touch, following up on my recovery. Dr. Joe Doctora is the BEST oral surgeon! I had been to 2 other oral surgeons in an effort to have a molar extracted. My issue was that I did NOT want to be sedated for the extraction. The 1st oral Surgeon said that he puts EVERYONE out, so he would not be able to do my extraction. He charged my insurance for the consultation and I had to pay $77 out of pocket for wasting my time. I then had to wait two weeks for an appointment with another oral surgeon. This oral surgeon's office assured me that they would pull the tooth without putting me under. However, when I got to my appointment the oral surgeon said HE would feel more comfortable putting me out. So, sadly it wasn't really about me, it was about what the oral surgeon wanted. So, I left that office without having my tooth extracted. I then found Dr. Doctora, and I'm so glad I did! From the friendly office staff, to the caring dental assistants, and Dr. Doctora himself, my experience there was excellent. He totally understood my desire not to be sedated. 2 numbing shots in the gums and a 5 minute painless extraction. Yes, painless. I had the tooth extracted 5 days ago and it's healing nicely. Never even had to take so much as an aspirin. Small bruise the size of a quarter, that's it. I will never go to any other oral surgeon. I highly recommend Dr. Doctora and his staff! read more

My wife had oral surgery this week in preparation for full dentures. Dr. Doctora and his staff made this potentially intimidating procedure seem almost routine. The office staff was helpful, on time, and informative by explaining everything we could expect during and after the procedure. We were only in the office for about an hour and the work was completed. My wife is doing very well, following post procedure instructions and experiencing minimum pain or discomfort, and resting well. Great doctor. Great staff. Wisdom teeth removal hurt like a . Hopefully they will be able to help me get more comfortable since it's day 5 and I'm still at a 10 on a pain scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest). I've been given only bare minimal pain meds and I've had constant pain since the surgery 5 days ago. Also still numb in the face. Worried but like I said hopefully they will help me out once I go up to their office today for help. read more

I had been recommended to take my wisdom teeth out because they were coming in sideways and my dentist referred me here. There's a reason she recommended this place highly, Dr. Joe Doctora is very genuine and caring towards his patience. When I got there he was very open to any concerns and questions I had. His office workers and assistants are very caring and friendly. Overall a great environment, but even after my visit Dr. Joe Doctora would contact me personally to see how my recovery was going, would answer my texts within reasonable time, and even gave me some items that were useful in my recovery. It's funny, I had the same tooth removed on the other side of my mouth 2 yrs ago and it cost me $125 without insurance. Somehow the price more than doubled between then and now. I was $25 short for the procedure, I'm obviously in a lot of pain. Offered my bank info to pull the payment wed when i get paid. Wouldn't hear of it Tried to charge me for a consultation after I was referred by my dentist. I know what the problem is. All you need to do is pull the tooth and sew me up. AND they refused to tell me what the thing would cost me until 45 minutes into the visit. I have no credit because my spouse has no concept of finance. Wanted me to finance $20. I know there are good reviews on this guy, but I get the sense that it's all about the money and screw the guy in agony. Won't prescribe pain meds because he's too lazy to figure out if the patient is pill seeking. Now in all fairness once they gave me the finger over $20, I gave them the rough side of my tongue. Doctora tried to act indignant as though I was a snowflake whining for free healthcare. Quit acting like I asked you for your green card. Quit acting like I'm asking for a discount on a luxury. I had 90% of the bill. You could've waited the 4 days for $25. There is no way I will ever recommend this guy. I have no idea about his abilities or after care; this is entirely about his demeanor and the demeanor of his office mgr. Would rate 0 stars if possible. read more

Just had my daughter's wisdom teeth removed and she was traumatized! At the consultation we were told she would be " put under" and she was not! Because of this she felt everything, the pulling and tugging on her teeth as well as the pain. I highly discourage going here to have your teeth removed. I am not the type to complain but this is uncalled for. read more

This was the most painful experience of my life i was not put to sleep before the procedure like i was suppose to be i was told not to eat or drink for know reason at all and then i got sent home with nothing for the pain and still have not been able too eat bc the pain is too bad my advice stay away read more

I went to Dr Doctura with massive fears and anxieties about having extractions done. I had extremely bad and painful previous experiences with other dentists, and was quite fearful and anxious to go through any procedures again. This time I had very little choice but to have it done. His staff was quite professional, and compassionate, and assured me that "it will be just fine". That statement is in quotation marks because I have heard that many times before by others. The day came, and I was still quite anxious....couldn't sleep the night before. I arrived, the moment came for the procedure, and Dr Doctora came in..... We were using light sedation, and he assured me again that things will be fine. If I wanted him to stop at any time, ...he would. He took things quietly and slowly, and talked to me the whole time. Before I knew it, it was done, and I felt just fine. I had a little discomfort later on when the novacaine wore off, but it was minimal. (I used an ice pack, and it was fine) Minimal pain, less than minimal bleeding, and pretty much back to normal activities later on that day. I have received 2 followup phone calls to see how I was doing. This is a truly professional operation, with a most capable, and caring staff and leader. He and his staff eased the heart and mind of an old lady with strong fears and anxieties, and for that in and of itself, I am most grateful, and will never forget the caring and supportive mindset of all concerned. read more
